I watched it on HBO MAX and it was INCREDIBLE. Its a shame though that we won't get a sequel but I will be buying the disc just to have in my collection.
How was the bass response from the HBO MAX stream? I've found that many movies on HBO MAX seem to really restrain the bass. Blade Runner 2049 is a great example.
@CA FiveOh's Rock Band Remix the bass was ok. It's streaming... so it's heavily compressed. Dynamics were weak. The bass had volume but missing fullness. When watching it on HBO, I thought this could actually sound great on physical media.
@@cafiveohsrockbandremix9254 I was watching on my lgc2 and the bass was ok for what it was but if on a superior HT system I bet it would be beast mode.
Black Adam was insanely enjoyable from beginning to end, and the Atmos did a phenomenal job sellling the power of the Justice Society thanks to great bass and surround effects. And the 4k transfer was amazing on the disc. Not the HBO Max stream however.
@@doublet147 usually lack of everything is my experience with hbo max but since I redid my calibration it’s a lil better I can only imagine what it would sound like on disk or kscape if it was that extra on a stream
Good job showing your physical disk. Many people discredit your opinions because you review the kaleidoscape version, which can be different. Way to shut them up! The movie was bad, but if it looks great & sounds great, I will probably purchase it.
This is seriously an Awful audio transfer. This is seriously as bad as watching one of the Avenger or Star Wars movies Audio wise. The LFE is the Only thing slightly decent. I highly recommend not to purchase this unless you don’t care about sound.

Twice Shane says that it is unlikely there will be a follow up...is it that bad? I thought there was talk about Superman vs. Black Adam and a Shazam vs. Black Adam in talks?
Awesome to see that this very enjoyable movie got great ratings for both audio and visual. Too bad the movie won't get a sequel but at least the rock got to make a good solid one off movie.
Compared to other top notch discs,the LFE on this one seems to be weak. Not saying it is not good, just relatively speaking, I feel 9.0 may be a more appropriate score for the audio performance
I made the mistake of watching BA on HBOMax. Of course the Atmos track was very lacking in all channels. The picture, well it was viewable and that’s about it. Normally when Shane gives a movie high marks for sound and picture I will add it to my collection. I am going to have to say that no matter how good it sounds or looks I just can’t justify spending the money on this disc . The movie is just that bad . I am not knocking the Rock it’s just a horrible script. Of course this is just my personal opinion. So to those who see it in a different light, ENJOY.

I've already pre-ordered the steelbook for January. And yes, I liked the movie too. With the fact it's not getting a sequel I would've loved to have seen that black adam vs superman movie that was rumored to be the follow-up.
Thought it was decent, but nothing special (3.5/5). I'm not really in a hurry to watch it again. Maybe if I just want to hear the Atmos in it I'll check it out one way or another. I'd only consider buying it at the $10 mark, but even then I'm gonna have to talk myself into it. Good review as always!
Watched this on HBO Max on an Apple TV 4K. I was surprised at how good the picture quality was on this stream. As for the sound, the bass was surprisingly good, though definitely compressed. For whatever reason, though, voices seemed to be like 5-7 dB quieter than everything else. I wonder if anyone else noticed the same?
@@StringerRell7 Dr. Fate has been one of My favorite characters since I was a child in the 60's. He & Atom Smasher are My main reasons for checking this one out.
Digital Intermediate. If a movie is shot at 2k or shot in 4k but with an abundance of effects, it tends to be mastered at 2k to save on rendering cost/space etc. A 4k DI means everything is made to benefit high resolution images from a base line. Film does not have a set DI but tends to be scalable per print size as the structure of the grain becomes more refined. 35mm has discernable detail to approximately 6-8K resolution and 70mm film approximately up to 16K in the pixel space.
