Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
We can also use other tools to remove hard ear wax, foreign bodies, peeling dead skin or for ear infection removal.
All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green at Audiology Associates.

Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

First time something like this popped up in my algorithm and it immediately sent me back to 5th grade health. We had a project where everyone in class had to do a presentation on one part of the body. I studied the ear. Needless to say that over 15 years have passed and I have since meticulously cleaned my ears and constantly worry about other people keeping their ears clean. Ear health is so important y’all

Most people don't need to clean their ears. The ear naturally cleans itself, you just need to remove the debris as it pushes itself out. Please don't stick q tips in your ear

I was on the edge of my seat on this one! My muscles were straining along with Taylor's movements in the ear. Wow, I don't think I've ever seen wax this hard before. Great job, Taylor! 👏🏼

I always wonder how people live like this. Then my husband reminds me of my own hearing issues in 1 ear (its due to hereditary) and my refusal to even go get accessed for a hearing aid. I noticed a horrible pressure issue in my early 20's and did see an ENT. She deemed my hearing was 30% gone. Im now 40 and havent been back since. Maybe these videos will help me not be so afraid of being checked out and accepting whatever news the ENT gives me.

You should definitely go! I’m losing my vision and was very scared of my first follow up visit but it felt great to get it over with and move on for the year! Besides, knowing a device that can help you exist is a wonderful thing, you should take advantage of what it can offer!

Omg!! Go! I got hearing aids and I was amazed at how much I wasn't hearing when I could hear again. Keep in mind, HAs don't return your lost hearing, they are a tool to help improve. .

Yes this is what I wonder. . . could he even hear at all in that ear? I have unilateral sensorineural hearing loss from barely surviving Lassa fever, it's improved a lot over the years, but it was scary when I was completely deaf in one ear. He must feel wonderful to have it out!

As one who's been hard of hearing all my life, wearing hearing aids for over a half a century, I was told early on to keep my ears cleaned out. This scares the hell out of me seeing this massive plug of earwax. Kudos to you for removing it! The poor patient has to be relieved now!

As an ambitious IT guy I used to build my own PCs almost from scratch. To grab some fine screws that you might have dropped into a case there was a flexible metallic tube with a three-pronged gripper that you could extend from the tube. This three pronged gripper extended and opened up on a spring loaded button. It open slowly and could be inserted into most materials to then grip that material by releasing the pressure on the button. I would imagine that for these procedures a finer, more medical version of that tool might offer some aid in these procedures. At the very least it could break up the surface of these extremely hard earwax plugs, allowing for better purchase for the more traditional tools.

That was such an exciting ear wax removal. It was suspenseful because so many tools were not working very well at first since the wax was so old. But I’m glad Taylor didn’t give up and he got it out and the patient was OK. Enjoyed listening to Ryece and Taylor’s banter and narration of what was going on in the ear canal.
