I didn't detect a single lie! Very good video. Not to try to persuade you to change your mind, but for what it's worth I still really enjoy making RL content occasionally, but only because I: A) Took a long break and B) Detached from the idea of being so involved in the game so much that it takes 100% of my creative passion Now I see RL as less of my job and more just a fun thing on the side that I make a video on every month or two and ONLY if I feel like it. I guess all I'm saying is definitely explore other topics, you will KILL it, but don't close every door either! RL can still be fun to make videos about even when it's so, so depressing.
The Trackmania analogy is perfect. It's not that people wouldn't play the game if it weren't for custom maps, but you can only play the official tracks for so long before you go insane. Essentially what's happening to RL
@@Qubk0and TM community is great. Cup and text chat provides a built in community. And map review. And i see some of the same players over and over. And I'm in lobbies (hunting cup maps, or in quails) with the best players in the world, despite being a mid-player myself. RL doesn't cultivate any community. TM does. So i have fun playing rocket league, but after 30-45 minutes, it starts to feel empty & unfulfilling. And RL built in toxic quickchats like what-a-save. The game's social infrastructure (or lack thereof) cultivates toxicity beyond just being competitive imo. On top of TM's social infrastructure (also shoutout to TMX), it's just a good community. Most people are kind & thoughtful. I think most of us are old so that helps. 🤣 I love tm so much
@@reed6514 yeah that summs up rl at moment i play rank for liek 30mins and are met with smurfs freestylers bossters or people that just bump all game doesnt and hasnt felt the same since 2019
Haha thanks for the kind words, I was ready to get roasted lol I agree though, I don’t really feel personally connected to Rocket League like I used to. The main thing keeping me going is that I just love editing and creative storytelling (but even that can get repetitive with RL). It’s so much less about the game for me at this point to be totally honest
Haha thanks man, anybody can see the love you have for video-making. My talent is being able to make fun of absolutely anything, but i couldn't when the quality is that high level
I advise u to watch ApparentlyJack and Retals’ 2 pros 1 keyboard series on both their channels. It’s really good. If u search it up u will find a playlist
Who was it? Rocketslot? Who was training some girl to make it to "gc"? When she literally couldn't even make a basic air touches after months of training videos. What ever happened to that girl? Is she ssl yet?
I have never seen or even been recommended a video of you until now. However, the way you talked about this is a nice change of pace from how everyone else does, happy to be a new sub
Whatever you do next you're going to crush. What makes your videos good is you, and your editing style. Rocket League may have been the reason to start, but personally I'm excited to see where you take your talents. Always said I selfishly wish I had the money to pay you full time to edit. You got this 👍
2:38 it’s crazy that some people think 13K is failure, I could never convince 13,000 people to watch something I made and also make them willingly decide to continue watching my stuff
I was just talking to my parents at their house this morning about how I was getting really burnt out on playing this game and how the RU-vidrs that I used to watch consistently (Pickapixel, CoralCoke, etc.) are unable to make their old content due to trading being removed. This game brought me so much joy in my teens and early twenties but it’s time for something new for me too.
My parents wanted me to try and grind to being a pro, but I’ve been playing the game for so long now and I’m gonna be in my 20s soon, feel like I’ve become unc status seeing all these younger pros dominate the scene whilst my skill level has remained the same for a couple years now no matter how much training I give myself. Was on a crazy rise back in the day so it hurts explaining it to my parents haha
I truly felt this. I mean ive been thinking about this problem for a long time with Rocket League it just continues to be cemented in stone as the months and years go by. Ive been playing Rocket League since 2015 with my best friend for so long. We would spend so many hours playing. He then took a step back to focus on college and I continued to grind. I loved the competitive and mechanical ceiling of the game and I eventually became a coach. I would coach players from any rank and then eventually worked with a few semi pro teams and it was awesome the community and feeling to be part of such a unique game. But then I quit. My drive for the game tanked in 2021. I was dealing with a lot of mental health problems and trying to struggle through school. I had lost the drive and I lost the feeling of love that came from Psyonix when working on their game. It was very apparent the game needed some attention. And I really thought Epic might actually help support Psyonix and grow the game, but instead it received nothing, got its name put in Fortnite and its name added to the money pit that is modern games. It really hurts seeing a game I was so passionate about and cared for fade into the unknown. I know I am not the only person who feels this way either. And eSports is still fun to watch, but it doesnt have the same charm as the first 8 seasons of RLCS. The worst part is I traded playing RL for playing Overwatch and if yall know, you know that game also struggles with their dev team and balancing, but at least they are trying every update that comes out. But its just sad seeing these major competitive games die for the casual player. Especially with how special Rocket League is, such a unique concept for a game and a 1 of a kind. I will also love Rocket League and the true drive it gave me for competitive video games, but I just wish it would receive the love it should from Psyonix and Epic.
As a fellow unc, I hear this, nothing for me will come close to the community in 2018-2020 and it comes down to those in charge of the game and esports decisions. You have a talent for entertaining digestible content & I'm sure if you are actually passionate about the basis of the content it will be great quality that people will stick around for. o7
I wanna keep holding on... I know it's futile... But I wanna believe as foolish as it may be.... Things will never be the same. Nothing fills the hole pre Epic Rocket League left behind... Not even Rocket League itself. Rest in peace little one🪦 Your journey is almost complete.
Kinda crazy that almost every single rocket league creator is coming to this same conclusion and this was such an avoidable thing. If they just listened to the community more over the years I can only imagine where the game would be and how different things could be. Either way, definitely going to sub and see what you make going forward!
I completely get this Speech, I've had the same thoughts recently as an Unc myself. The only thing that's really keeping me going is RLCS and the friends I have in the RLCS. With that being said you keep making your documentary style videos for other games and I'm going to keep watching them. I wish you luck with whatever you do next.
@@jpuc5568 he first of all didnt endorse "society" but said he should be gunned down irl, and second he was banned for like a week. also nothing he said is wrong even in 2024 if you actually play league, its just china games dont know how to censor someone
From what I know, Retals and AppJack's two pros on one keyboard is unqiue. It's become my favorite RL content. It's absolutely halarious and interesting to watch them essentially relearn mechanics while using their game knowledge the best as possible. The biggest reason I watch it and am glad they decided not to stop it is that it's the few unique videos I've seen.
yeah, that and lethamyr with all his weird shit of fun maps, modified gameplay and stuff. but even leth with all his map making insanity can only get us so far. if the game at least had better support for custom games, like a lobby finder ingame where you can join random public lobbies and automatically download maps if you don't have them so its accessible to play community content... but nope.
@@MrLordLowbob bro epic games have all this money and power yet they cant do public custom maps. Its BS! Unbelievable that they just dont care at all about this game. But honestly I dont care anymore as I have moved on from RL now. They lost all their OG fans by now
yea i quit rl quite a while ago and i remember saying and hearing "i hope epic doesnt ruin this game ". unfortunately as you said, it took the soul out of the game and i dont enjoy playing it anymore and havent for a while. Nothing good has came out since epic and they took things away. your video is basically exactly how i feel about the game. 👍
If you hate Epic Games, then you hate Unreal Engine as well for being made by Epic Games, not because you think that it is terribly optimized with terrible framerate!
@@elite-forcecinema1788 your comment makes 0 sense. For one I never said I hate epic games. And 2, that doesn't even make sense that if I hated epic then I hate unreal engine.... did you have any thoughts before commenting that?
I don't know what I am more mad about. The idea that this video suggests the only thing I do is SSL vs Grand Champion videos when its a miniscule percentage (like 2 or 3?) of my almost 1000 videos, OR the fact that the video is right that no matter what whenever I do the video does well. As someone who is looking to go full-time content doing Rocket League content here soon, I hear your sentiment. Here's to hoping there's a way for all of us to pivot if need be, but I fear I may be nothing without Dark(?)
I'm not buying the "I'm Old" thing. I'm almost 50 and started in 2015 and don't plan on stopping. I'll probably be stuck in Diamond at this point, but especially being older I feel pretty good about that too.
The point is that I feel completely detached from the community at this point because Epic attract swathes of children. I'm still playing the game cause it's fun as hell, but I'm not devoting a big portion of my life to it anymore
I am 41 and started in 2015 too. This is one the greatest game ever made imo. But I dont have fun anymore. I play occasionally with friends that still want to play. 4K hours on this game.
as rocket league's certified #1 hater this video is too real. always interested in people calling out the game for the shit that it is. used to love it, but it's hard to love a game when the people in charge clearly don't
I used to load this game up in the early days and just the music choice they made as it booted to the main menu was perfect and even that was so thoughtfully done, it got me so hyped to play the game, and now? Lmao it’s just depressing to boot it up, it just lazily turns on and goes to the menu with some random generic song
Epic games - “oh, you like playing 4v4 rocket league with your 3 friends? Let’s make the 4v4 playlist seasonal so that quick half hour of rocket ball you’d play after work is no longer an option. Whaaaat you don’t have as much free time at a weekend? Tooo bad because that’s when the chaos will be on… oh, and we won’t be replacing it with any other perm 4v4 mode.”
If you hate Epic Games, then you hate Unreal Engine as well for being made by Epic Games, not because you think that it is terribly optimized with terrible framerate!
@@elite-forcecinema1788 I mean, maybe? If you hate someone, then you hate someone's child because said child was made by person you hate. It does sound like a non-sequitur.
Nowadays I just watch ApparentlyJack ranking up, Wayton, Musty occasionally and I think Jhzer plays Tekken and rarely every few months we get a moiments. And your videos have been the most interesting to watch this year. It's fun to watch Sunless making videos about rocket league being depressing and kind of making fun of players and how they behave in a way? Didn’t know he had a history channel :D Sad to see the game dying on RU-vid as well :(
I still haven't launched the game since they removed trading, and it is funny seeing Rocket League RU-vidrs trying (with varying degrees of success) to keep finding fresh ideas.
man i still love rocket league. like, the game at it's core is just so damn good. but everything around it fucking sucks, including the devs. I really think removing trading was the turning point for this game. I mean, what an absolutely dogshit decision.
I mean how else they gonna get you to buy a goal explosion for 20$, when your friend just gives you his hand me downs lol. Whats funny is when I started in 2015, I prob spent hundreds of dollars buying 5 keys for 5$ every couple days for a random shot a Black Market, and havent once spent 20$ to make one I actually wanted. But thats considered gambling now lol.
devs had nothing to do with the trading. In fact, they aren't the ones to blame for anything of bad that is happening to the game. It's all about epic games being greedy bastards and don't giving a flying fuck to players, pros and teams.
The turning point was the company behind RL being sold to Epic. Just like how the quality of your favorite local restaurant dropped off right after being bought by private equity or whatever, corporations with effectively unlimited resources are killing everything good (including us by poisoning the environment).
Meanwhile, me from an Overwatch side... We were nearly in the same boat as well 😭 the most popular videos end up being 1 v 10 rank stuff, elo hell stuff, or why the game is dying. Though I can say that we do fortunately get more "content" in comparison to RL, I can sympathize with this feeling. We had it damn near back around 2020 when the game received zlich updates for a "sequel"... The purpose of the sequel that soon got cancelled was to focus on PvP. Couldn't help but feel deja vu, sorry the community is going through this ❤
its so sad that rocket league never tried to embrace that shit, like e.g. warcraft 3 or track mania or to some lesser degree even counter strike did it. just make it possible to host private servers with custom maps or modded game behaviour and create the same stupid server list logic, where you can just browse all the publicly available private servers, join and automatically download the map. imagine how much more traction weird and quirky funmaps would have gotten, because you don't need to find the players for private lobbies to even start playing it and instead just start that server with a map and people can connect if they want without having them to first get some connection credentials from someone else somewhere.
Shit. It hurts. This game has so much potential. I loved your content and i can't bear the other games. Fps ? I don't like playing kbm or improving my aim. Other games ? Yeah i like subnautica, minecraft... But none of them are competitive games. Not one can be compared to rocket league. Not one can make me love to hit shots when im just alone playing in free play. And still, Epic's ruining everything. Every content creators i like, except for the one truly passionnate. Every bit of fun i have in this game is just fading away as epic's incapability and nonchalance is growing every day where they don't add anything exciting to this game. I fell in love with this game but still it is dying days after days, being eaten bit by bit by a company caring only abt immediate profit, not knowing what managing a game is like. Sorry man i hope you have fun on your journey... Im staying subscribed bcs im curious but this shit is way too depressing (it doesn't affect me that much in my life but i hate what's happenning to the game. It could be the number 1 game in the world but epic is too dumb to realise. It's too unfair)

It's so sad seeing how rocket league is dying. I've discovered this game in 2020 when I was in search for new games with my friend. He didn't feel it, I loved it from the beginning and it became my favourite game since. 4,5 years passed and after 1,3k hours of playing I still do like launching the game and playing for some time while listening to music, but it's not the same now. What is more, I am going to the university soon and I won't have that much time as I had, so I'm also at the finishing stage I guess. Never saw your content before, this video is the only one that got recommended to me, but I fully agree with you and I'm glad you're honest about how you feel. Good luck on your future plans!
@@boneykingofsomewhere no no, fuck epic. I'm not going to go into detail but epic has continued to make "updates" that, more often than not, have genuinely removed content from the game. Makes absolutely no sense, and it's all in the name of selling more garbage to children on a DIFFERENT GAME. Rant over lol
@@boneykingofsomewhere Nah man they're just talentless and lazy, they are many ways of creating new modes and ways of monetizing the game, they just kept going in a direction that never worked
As a very casual player (since 2016, about 950 hours), I see rocket league as doing great. I love that it's something I can depend on, like chess the core game never changes. I'm a big counterstrike enjoyer too because it doesn't change much either. In an era of online service games that change the meta every month, it's nice to have something that's consistent and familiar to go back to. No matter what it feels like the same exact game as 2016 and I love it for that. I don't like the removal of trading (I was quite sad about that), but I overall think the epic acquisition was positive in my eyes. Sure, we lost trading but before the acquisition cute times were getting kind of long and I kept going up against the same players. As long as the base game is the same and there's a good pool of players I'm happy. I definitely understand your complaints, but as someone who's very casual about the game none of it really touches me personally. I don't find myself wanting more from the game ever. Honestly I don't understand how a racing game would really work. I think new content is good, don't get me wrong but I think you're just getting bored of the game. The game is pretty much the exact charming masterpiece it was when you started playing, you just are losing interest and that's okay. I don't think you should hang on every little potential content release to try and save the feeling like someone who's desperately trying to save a romantic relationship that's just not working out anymore for either person. With that said though, I wish they would do something about toxic players. Perhaps they could implement a system similar to what overwatch has with commending players for good behavior?
Solid comment. Often, I think it's us casual folks that enjoy it because we don't take it all that seriously. We haven't made it our whole identity, we haven't made a job out of it...we just play, and remember that it's still just a silly little game about cars playing soccer.
the problem is the free to play thing. free to play is nice to get a huge player base (if the game is good enough to begin with) and it also invites all sorts of shit behaviour because a ban will only lock an already free account and on you go create the next one. the same doesn't apply for other games as the initial cost is a (re-)entry barrier that I think twice if I want to waste that money with shitty behaviour. and what also helped counter strike at least when I still played it at CS 1.6 times was the ton of private servers. no sweating, playing the same people over multiple games, thus socializing instead of having new randoms every game. possibiliy of custom maps that are easily accessible (i remember all the surf maps and HE maps by the community. that's not really rocket science in terms of creative new map and game mode ideas, but its a little extra diversity that helps keeping the game fresh already)
I've been playing since not long after launch and have struggled more and more the last few years as well. I don't want to drop the game that has brought new friends and so much good into my life, not to mention the hours that I have poured into it, but it hasn't given anything back in a long, long time and that makes it so hard to continue. Totally agree with all your points here. I wasn't subbed before, but I am now. Looking forward to seeing what you do in the future, speech!
I’m 31, I’ve got 3000 hours on the game, I’ve loved it so much but you are so right. The game is literally dying and nothing is done to even try to save it. It’s just so sad. At this point I just couldn’t have anymore fun on it, people got so frustrated playing this game they get so aggressive and toxic it’s very hard not to become toxic as well, because it’s only every time. It ruined so many good days I had, and only way to get better again was to quit a game I love. So good luck in whatever you are going for and if anyone can relate to what you said in this video i warmly recommend you to quit the game, it’s for the best. Maybe someday we could hope someone realise everyone is quitting, and he would eventually do something about it. Cheers everyone
Love to see outher content creators out there supporting you. Ive been playing since 2018. I love RL. It has a place in my heart. But ive simply gone on to other games. You can't let a game stagnate while also removing features like trading and expect the game to grow. They really mismanaged RL imo. Still no beach ball/volley ballmode
Well said. I was hooked for 4 years straight until 2023/2024. Got GC, loved it, and suddenly in 2024 the game seemed to get toxic threefold. It’s just simply unenjoyable, don’t think I’ll ever be back and im kinda happy lol
It's a game that's sole existence is to play soccer with flying cars and nothing else, I'm fucking surprised it even lasted this long but you can't really change anything or add to a sports game that's just...soccer
what they needed would be to embrace community content. add a decent way to open games with custom maps and make it easy for others to find and join them. embrace that shit and your game gets basically free extra content. there are other games that did that so well too.. track mania is basically "just racing" but still the game lives off of the community and nadeo does stuff. warcraft 3, before blizzard decided to milk World of warcraft and go full corporate bullshit... the thousands of fun maps that were created. DOTA started out from there and LOL was inspired by the dota fun map. tower defense games like element TD were a warcraft 3 map before becoming a stand alone game. what did they do? they provided a high quality map editor and made it easy for people to share their maps in easily accessible custom lobbies. counterstrike same thing. sure, mapping there isn't as newbie friendly, but still possible and done. there have been quite a few weird maps and mods for counter strike too that also brought in some alternative to the standard competetive game modes. not sure how that continued after 1.6 as I didn't really like source and never really came back due to other games being my focus but still.
If you hate Epic Games, then you hate Unreal Engine as well for being made by Epic Games, not because you think that it is terribly optimized with terrible framerate!
I almost hit champ rank about 6-10 times. I’m not the most mechanical player, I have clear deficits in things I’ve basically refused to learn like wave dashing, better flip control, kickoffs and especially air control - however, I’ve been consistently high Diamond ceiling for years; primarily MMR tanked all around, I’ve been PLAT for three seasons. I’ve been angry and depressed, it’s like watching 8 year olds that think they’re really good, and having teams make bronze choices constantly. I get my kicks and joy from The Crew 2 these days, consistently top 4k in weekly PvP, and just try to ambient coexist in Rocket League without losing my sanity. I relate to pretty much all of this. Best of luck in your current and future endeavors. Do what makes you happy. It’s all that really matters in life.
Honestly, this is the 1st video you made that I am watching, and the community of this game is now so ret(!!,8. Really all Fortnite kids who spend more time being toxic about everything you do wrong but that they probably spend 95% of the time doing themselves. So I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to see what you do in the future
I've drifted away from epic's games as a whole, removing trading was the last straw on RL for me and fortnite gave me a perfect sendoff with the OG season. Haven't looked back since.
Only thing I have to say in regards to your points has to do with RLCS. I think this is the best time period we've seen for the competitive scene from a skill level. No one watches hockey, football, or baseball to elementary gameplay and mistakes. That's usually what gets people upset. People want to watch high level professional gameplay. And with all of the current knowledge the pro scene has, it's making for fantastic rocket League. The thing I think should have been mentioned is the funding/marketing for RLCS and non psyonix organized events not being as prevalent (the ewc, FIFA event, and upcoming 1s/2s/3s events are a good start.) And just another thing to note, the lack of involvement of pros in the social media space. Some are active on Twitter, but majority of them aren't on twitch or RU-vid. A lot of people gravitate towards kaydop, squishy, retals, appjack because they put in the time and effort to upload content or stream all the time. We get to see their personalities. These are relatively older pros as well, and none of the younger pros are at that same level of content
good on you for stepping back without fear! i used to make rocket league content, and i grew tired very quickly. as a champ, there is absolutely no content i can make that the algo favors anymore… so i moved on! i took a leap of faith and it’s working out better. i’m 100% certain it’ll work for you!
Rocket league before epic games: New content, fresh ideas, bug fixes, balancing, community engagement Rocket league after epic games: Took several months to fix a game breaking ddos issue which should have taken days, no new content in years, money oriented strategy, 0 community engagement, DLC cars no one gives a shit about, trying to send all the RL players to Fortnite by saying your items will be compatible with Fortnite. Rocket League would have continued to grow if Psyonix never sold out to epic games for a quick buck. I would say “Psyonix we need you!” But clearly they gave up on us before we did them. It’s so sad to see one of the most iconic and addicting games go down the shitter like this. GG. (Also I finally reached grand champ the other day, so I can finally rest in piece without ever coming back to this game)
I know my channel isn't nearly at the scale of yours, but every single thing you said in this video resonates with me as well. RL is just getting stale and its awful to see. Incredible video.
This came right on time, I just got off Rocket League multiple times lately due to: extremelly laggy servers, toxic players who don't know how to play, boring games and overall same thing over and over again, I'd rather start playing new games but RL is super fun tho, ngl, maybe all we need is a break from it.
yeah thats probably over all the years since 2015. Of course over 9 years its gonna have a ton of players, from its prime in 2015-2017 and around when epic games took over they had like a million players at a time. But now the games dead in the sense that its headed nowhere
I’ve not played Rocket League in probably 8 years, and I never paid attention to RU-vid videos about it. I love the way this video was made and had to throw a subscribe your way. Looking forward to whatever you put out next!
i kinda agree with the rlcs thing ive been thinking that for a minute, everyone is so good and so close to the skill cap, that like, there's no real difference in players. you hide the names and it's impossible to tell who is who- they all play perfect
GG friend. I feel the exact same way as you. I started playing RL in 2015 during the free if you had PSN+ launch and fell in love with it. I played almost daily for years and thought I'd never stop playing it for the rest of my life until EPIC took over. Now I haven't played in forever but I had some fun times.
Hey mate I'm staying subbed :) lets see what you do next. I've just quit RL after playing since 2015 which I felt a bit sad about initially but the game really has lost its soul :( . Your content has been awesome to watch and remember all the odd goings on that happened during the games life - thanks for that. I especially loved your video on Kamii since I was in the OCE community... Such a weird story. Good luck with your videos in the future, I'll be sure to tune in
People don't complain about Super Smash Bros not having new content. The game doesn't need it. It's essentially a sport. You don't hear NFL players going "I wish we had football racing"
Smash does get a little bit of new stuff, but I agree with what you’re saying. Especially cause there’s no classes or skill trees in RL it’s just soccer with rc cars, it’s simplicity is the greatest strength but also a limiting factor
100% Like...the game's still there. Nothing's changed. Like, who cares if the new DLC sucks? You still have the game and all the old content that you liked before, none of that went away. I really don't understand the mentality of needing a constant steam of new content in order to not hate something. I came for car soccer, and I still get to play car soccer. Everything else is just window dressing.
@@ASFalcon13 Exactly, people's attention span is too small these days. They need something new and shiny to stimulate their brain. It's sad because I wish we didn't need people like that playing but it's the only reason Epic Games keeps the game alive because it makes them money. I have a feeling in a few years we will have to download the game off of some website and use a private server. That's what they did with Mario Kart for the Wii
The difference between Smash Bros and Rocket League is that Smash has a lot more room for creativity and trying out new things. There are 89 characters in Smash, each with completely different moves and playstyles. There are plenty of community-made stages that are easy to play in-game. It was also publicly announced that there was going to be very few updates to the game after Sora was released. Rocket League, on the other hand, just started going downhill after Epic Games took over. Updates slowed down, and the updates that did come out mostly just removed meaningful content (i.e. trading, dropshot/snowday switching to a rotation) and added new low-effort cars. It has turned from a company that cares about the game being in charge to a company that is just attempting to suck as much money out of the game as possible before it dies.
@@therealjollification ...and if Rocket League's updates actually affected game, you might have a point. But they don't. The game standardized to 6 hitboxes and a single arena layout in 2017, nearly 2 years before Epic ever got their hands on it. The game's never been about giving players a huge amount of movesets and character balances, it's always been about giving everyone the same platform and letting player skill itself be the differentiator. So, like I said, window dressing. Doesn't matter what new cosmetics come out, it's always the same six hitboxes and single arena underneath. It might sound like I'm criticizing RL here, but I'm not - like @thisgoodstuff4057 pointed out, it's more like a real-world sport in that respect. Going back to the NFL...aside from the goalposts being moved to the back of the end zone in 1974, football fields have been a standard size for over a century. There are plenty of folks playing RL for precisely that reason: because it's a simple, standardized core concept that rewards player skill, and isn't getting continually cluttered up by the endless addition of badly-balanced addons. I'll concede the point about Dropshot and Snow Day (since I'm a big Snow Day fan), but I couldn't care any less about trading (since, again, the tradeables didn't affect gameplay anyway).
it just hurts, this game saved my life i was so close to doing the big bad but i realised i could maybe go pro in rl, i slowly stopped playing r6 (my main game at the time) and 5 years later i had 7k hours in rocket league, id frequently queue against pros in ranked, now i just feel sad when i play. Its lost its soul, like wayton said,he had to detach from RL emotionally, because it hurts too much to watch it go, but it just makes me sad playing it now. Epic struck gold with RL, a game with a near infinite skill ceiling, can be fun at any skill level, none pay to win cosmetics and a community that will do their job for them (Leth). Yet they still ruined it, it's just sad that theres no remorse. They dont even know what theyve done
I really just watched this video not knowing who you are or even anything about rocket league and while watching unknown content isn't that unusal, the fact that it's your final video about the game makes this situation a bit different. Well I'm glad it's this video I stumbled upon because now I can subscribe to you and see content about possibly games that I'm interested in and even if not that much I know that they will be well made.
All the power to you. I jumped late on the rl wagon and after 3 seasons and barely touching champ I’m tired of it. Toxic teammates are not the exception, they’re the rule. So much so that I already expect it going in a game. When I make a mistake I’m already dreading the next comm from my teammate. It’s just not fun anymore.
Rocket League just isn’t the type of game you are supposed to make RU-vid content about. You could, and you have done so, but rocket league content is meant to be played or watched in a sport setting.
Kind of disagree. Always liked watching people like neat mike and mertzy playing and joking with other people. The sport aspect i think is kind of boring in this game everyone feels too good.
Damn, you're not wrong... But I hope one day you are, I'm just getting back into the game and I love it so much, Rocket League is truly special, its the closest thing the entire eSports community has to an actual sport and should only be improved, removing trading and focusing on Microtransactions and so on is such a sad route to see RL going down
bro crazy i hate rocket league now and i saw this video and thought epic was gonna take the servers offline or something but seeing a young upstart creator grind is inspiring and hopefully i will get to see more of that in the future
Ironically I used to watch a lot of RL content yet never heard of you. Now that I stopped consuming said content you pop up in my feed with an announcement that you're gonna stop making content for RL and now imma sub 😂
As someone who comes from a game with an average of 16-70 average viewers (depending on the day) on twitch, I totally understand. I am new to your channel, but this is completely relatable, and I want you to know that I find your arguments fair and well reasoned. I wish thee well on your new gaming adventures.
Don't know why RU-vid recommended me this. I don't play Rocket League nor watch Rocket League videos. All I got was a dude yapping to say one simple thing that could be compiled in a twitter post. lol
Could be, sure. But since you lacked context, that's RU-vid's fault. Really weird they'd recommend it to you. For those of us who loved this game for years and saw it neglected and destroyed by Epic, a Twitter post don't cut it.
Videogames were never meant to be played forever. Live service games are a symptom of late stage capitalism, they just dont go with the medium. You youngsters grew up with it though so perhaps don't know any different.
I was never interested in RL content and never saw a single video about it, but this video was recommended to me for some reason. I really liked the style of humor in the video, your editing and pacing got some pretty good giggles out of me, so I'm now subscribed and will be looking forward to your future content! Best of luck!
I don't think I've ever seen any of your videos before, but you nailed the emotions I've felt the past few years. From no meaningful content with Leth trying and trying, the tonedeaf customer relations when we cried out as a community, and then the eventual end of trading and scrapping Psyonix for parts to create a racing game... Then the removal of Snow Day as a permanent game mode was the last straw. It hurts to play RL now.
