Rockets in Everyday Places

My mission has always been to bring space down to Earth for everyday people.
And I realize that not everyone will get a chance to get up close and personal with rockets in their lifetime. And even when you do see the rockets at say Kennedy Space Center, everything is just so big, it’s hard to have a good sense of scale.
So in order to help you understand just how big rockets are, I decided to bring them down to earth. I figure the best way to help show off their size is to put them in everyday settings, amongst landmarks you might be familiar with.
So hopefully we’ll give you a good sense of just how big this stuff really is.
I mean, after all, I’m sure we’ve all seen pictures of a Falcon 9, but it isn’t until you see a picture like THIS that makes you appreciate just how massive these things are...
Without further ado, may I present rockets in everyday places ---
Locations in order - Cedar Falls - Iowa (first 3 shots), Paris - France, Taj Mahal - India, Niagara Falls, New York City, Goosenecks Park - Utah

Great video, Tim!! It was really soothing to watch all the rockets with that music. And yeah, it's still SUPER crazy that we each independently came up with this concept and somehow released these videos on the SAME DAY!! I'm still trying to consider the chances :P -Wren

Everyday Astronaut u guys might be interested to know: this phenomenon, of simultaneous discoveries, is known as "Multiple Discovery"! It happens more often than people think! A couple examples include formulation of calculus and the discovery of oxygen. There have even been Nobel Peace prizes shared by different people, working on separate independent projects, for "multiple discovery"! This concept was amazing guys. Thank you both for being the lightning rod! You both captured lightning in a bottle!

Both of your serendipitously timed videos were truly awesome, congrats! Being from Paris, the shot of the Space Shuttle standing proud next to the Arc de Triomphe really hit home -- I would have never guessed it was so tall, even though I've seen it launch so many times next to its launch tower... A great concept, brilliantly executed; many thanks for this!

I have been watching your videos for quite some time now. This is one of the most beautiful and inspirational videos you have ever made. Your videos are informative, funny, entertaining. But this one embodies your entire mission statement. The big thing we all want is people that have not experience the reality of how close we are and can be to the stars. And you one hundred percent again put that in perspective. We are in a critical time to publicize space. To further humanities existence and further our understandings of future technologies. I had a similar idea to this. And I hope someone can run with this. "Or maybe I'll just do it my self if no one else does it". But instead of putting rockets In rocket gardens or museums. Make a petition to put used rockets in town squares and around cities. Have private companies and NASA award historical rockets to city landscapes. So when humanity looks out its window it sees the reality of what we are and have been doing. Not of what we might be doing. Well done Tim Dodd.

Love that you mentioned Wren and his video, although it's SpaceX specific, on realizing the size of these vehicles. I think your video does a great job of adding perspective to the rest of the major types as well. With the number of rockets being launched this year around the world, I think it's perfect timing to get some videos out there to help everyone understand just what massive structures these are that we're "throwing" into orbit.
