Having been blessed to have recorded thru (2) genuine Dumbles once on a session. This Dude pedal, for a PEDAL Nails much of the 80's Dumble circuit sound. VERY CONVINCING.!!! Great demo Shawn.!!!! Peace.....
Thanks to you and Chris for doing great demos of this pedal. I own an original KLON and a few other so called DUMBLE PEDALS!! My Les Paul into a Fender Amp with this pedal finally sounds the way I hear it in my head. Great pedal. Diggin' it!
As always, you give the most comprehensive demo's. I really like the way you showcased various musical styles where this pedal can work. Dumble-esque flavored pedals do get pigeon holed and this pedal indeed can go more directions tonally. Lastly, everytime I watch you play, it makes me want to practice! If only I could add 10% of your skills ...I would be happy!!
I paused Pixels to watch this totally worth it. Haha! This thing sounds great and clean with good voicing options, especially for a low gain pedal. Probably your best song yet, man, with great Robben Ford-esque snap!
Very well done. I recently purchased The Dude and it is a great versatile pedal. I play Strats and an LP Traditional through a Fender Blues Jr III, or a Peavey Delta Blues 115 or a Peavey JSX 412 half stack. This pedal lets me play much cleaner while still getting the sustain and punch I'm looking for.
Loved the bite it does everytime you pick the notes on a humbucker guitar. Seems to be that pedal that you can leave turned on all day long, and it will bright and hair up your signal chain, like EP booster, for example.
Man Shawn, great video! Thanks for the extensive review. I've been looking for "The Tone" for playing with my strat. I think the Dude is the one. I've subscribed btw!
Here's the thing with this pedal. You know how most OD's have ONE sweet setting? This pedal has every setting that is sweet no matter how you dial it up. AMAZING!
+MrLespaul2000 I did and apparently he refused. IF you happen to be at the NAMM show in LA that guitar is in the Rockett Pedals booth! He'll let you play it!
Um, dude. I need lessons on your scale choices because your improvisation is absolutely out of this world! I'm going to be watching your videos regardless of the product, just so I can try and steal some licks! Absolutely phenomenal man.
Step upwards it's 2017, Shawn the Gibson and PRS. I wish that they made as many left handed guitars as they did right handed. When you describe the pedals it helps place this info into perspective. The Dude pedal if this is a Dumble esk sound then Dumble Amps are truly the tone I have been looking for but we seem to be talking tens of thousands of dollars if you can get your hands on one. I love that PRS McCarty tight bottom end nice mids and light top end. And that Shur Amp and Divided by 13 Amp it reminds me of the late 70's amps. Big Ballsy and very tight AC/DC it has this tone not over the top but gain structure that is so sweet. Thanks for the demo and keep them coming.
I just bought one of these today, great review. I'm a LP guy mostly and have a few PRS guitars including a SC58.....but your MC58 😳 is absolutely beautiful. Is that a private stock version or standard?
Oh man nice slide sound! Does the Lindley thing justice. That may have swayed me to buy this pedal. I hate picking just one "Dumble" pedal but they're kind of expensive. This one looks appealing because it apparently has the most gain on tap.
Nice, sounds great, nice video edits and great playing as usual! mind if I ask if you tried the pedal Into the suhr badger? I'm just wondering does the pedal work with a more British sounding amp.
I'm playing a PRS McCarty with 57/08 through a Fender Blues Jr or Hotrod DeVille. What settings help me have a good controlled distortion without too mud or to much harshness?
It really just depends on what you're after. The Tumnus Deluxe is based on a Klon Circuit. It's going to be less compressed and has that classic Klon mid-bite. The Dude is based on a Dumble ODS, specifically Robben Ford's Dumble ODS. It has a slightly more compressed feel, fat mids, and a smoother overdrive tone. Both are great pedals.
+McSoappy Yeah that's not my Les Paul. It belongs to Chris Van Tassel of Rockett Pedals. It's got Lollar Low wind Imperials in it that sound pretty nice. I've had that D13 FTR 37 for a long time now. It's one of the best amps I own.
+JJ JJ Hi there thanks! I actually do play without a pick a bit. Check our the XTS Winford, Visual Sound VS-XO and Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde demo songs!
+Shawn Tubbs I wish I had one locally to try out. Seems like an excellent pedal and would pair nicely with my Archer. Would you say this pedal compresses the attack transient a bit? Kind of hard to tell without playing one. I like how my Archer has a fast response. Something like a King of Tone has a similar thing in the compression vs like a Blues Driver or a Tube Screamer, which feels like it kind of compress that initial attack of the note to me.
I just noticed a pair of 20/20's on Auralex pads...had to do a double take to make sure what I was listening was still sitting there! You don't look that old...LOL! Bought my 20/20's 23 years ago!
Hey Shawn, great demo as always. Quick question...I use my 'archer' as an always on boost. I'm thinking about purchasing 'the dude' and use it as an overdrive. Have you tried the 'archer' with' the dude' at the same time? If so, how did you make out?
Shawn- don't know if you;re still responding to such an ancient demo but I'm giving it a shot. Just listened to your Archer IKON demo. I'm seriously torn between getting The Dude or the IKON. LP & Strat thru a DSL 40. No hard rock or Metal. Classic rock, I guess. Appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
+thearoom Hey there, thanks for the kind words. I have yet to do a pedal board demo but I will say that the Silver Archer, The Dude and XTS Winford are main stays on my boards.
+Shawn Tubbs I like the dude and i have a morning glory. I can never decide what to stack in to what so, i go back and forth, sometime the Glory isn't enough boost and gets lost with a full band but great with a 3 piece.., my other option is the oddfellow bishop. is that a good in-between pedal from the Glory and the dude, I like the tone of glory but want a little more umph. and the dude sounds best to me with the gain up but seam to saturated when turned up.... the bishop ?. is it worth the investment?? Is it very different from the two i have? Your view is greatly appreciated.
bitchen video brutha, nice TG2 pres ive got those . Im thinking of getting a nice overdrive pedal, How do you think this compares to the fulltone ocd or vodoo sparkle drive. thanks again peace
How different is it to the the Blue Note and would they work well together if I use the Blue Note as a clean boost and the Dude for some gain? I'm looking for low volume bluesy type tube amp break up (from my very clean Trace Velocette).
The Blue Note has a lot less gain and sounds really open. The Dude has quite a bit more gain and has a bit more natural compression. The two pedals would pair nicely together.
@@ShawnTubbs Thank you. I'm not sure I need that much gain so I'm thinking the Lenny as a clean boost into the Blue Note. Thanks again, I love your videos.
Shawn, would you prefer the Providence Stampede OD SOV-2 Overdrive over this one? Planning on buying either one, you're recomandations are highly appreciated :)
