Bob did a song called “Eastside Story” it came out in the mid 60’s with Bob’s band called The Last Heard. They also did the original version of the song “Heavy Music in 1967.
Pre-Silver Bullet. They won't touch that. Punch Andrews wants the earlier (BETTER) half of Bob's career buried, and Jay and Amber only choose what's hot on Spotify, so…sigh.
Knew you guys would love this one, couldn't wait for you to hear it! This was one of my Momma's favorite songs. She just passed this Summer, we enjoyed so much great music together, I miss her. 😢. You should hear, Come to Poppa, and Fire Down Below next!

Bob Seger and Silver Bullet Band was my Moms(RIP MOM LOVE YOU) All Time Favorite! I remember this old, GIGANTIC,turn table stereo system my Mom had. And Bob cranked to the Gods, and her dancing and vacuuming at same time. “Her Strut” was one of her favorites. She passed on her bday, Feb 7th 2021. Made us promise to take her out of hospital, after Covid hit her. She knew they would not allow her kids, and grandkids to be with her. We all were vaxed, with gloves and masks. Lots of oxygen. Spoke to us all one by one. Then altogether. She knew she was dying. But she did it on HER TERMS. She will forever be my Hero! So thank you guys for playing this. To me, this is a “Ghost Kiss”. Her bday is in just a few weeks.💙😇
I know it's mostly out of our control...but I hope to go out on my terms also. The memories we leave for our families and friends are a comfort that will always be there for them. God bless
That’s like Free Bird with my sister that died during Covid from cancer. I live 2K miles away Couldn’t see her but did talk to her 1 hr before she passed.
Gosh, you're making me weep up. You have my empathy. To this day I cannot listen to my son's favorite songs. He died in '99 as a young teen and his music puts me in a fractured funk, even after all these years. May you feel comforted & encouraged.❤

yea it was written about Jane Fonda and how all the politicians hated her back during the Vietnam war, but she was so hot back then they couldnt stop looking at her.
Love everything about Bob Seger. "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man," from the late 60s, was Bob Seger's first hit song. His band was known as Bob Seger System back then.
Her Strut and Fire Lake are two of my favorite Bob Segar songs. I also love "Like a Rock." It's a very sentimental song. The lines "20 years, where'd they go?" "20 years, I don't know." Hits me every time I hear it. Time goes by so fast when your young, but you don't realize it until decades later. It's like "I was young once, what happened?!" Lol! Enjoy your youth kids, because it will be over in a flash! ❤
I was lucky enough to be at Cobo hall in Detroit in '75 when "Live bullet" was recorded. I was 15 and me and a friend of mine hitch hiked the 50 or so miles from Ann Arbor to Detroit to be there.
This song is about Jane Fonda and her strut from her movie Barbarella She rocked a lot of young boys my older brothers Are Bob age and when they were young Jane was the IT GIRL Also in the same movie there is a character name Duran Duran and this is how the British band Duran Duran got their name
I was in college at the time and ran out and bought this album when it came out in 1980. It was kind of a turning point for Bob going from the 70s into the 80s. He hit us with a rocker with "Her strut" but at the same time he was delving more into a country direction as well, with the title track "Against The Wind" and "Fire Lake"
As a big fan of "Stranger In Town", I was highly anticipating "Against The Wind". But did not care so much for the first two singles, "Fire Lake" And "Against The Wind". I finally heard "Her Strut" as an album cut and it totally saved this album. Then two other decent songs were released, "You'll Accompany Me" and "Horizontal Bop".
J and Amber, you guys HAVE GOTTA do Ramblin Gamblin Man, specifically the "Ramblin Gamblin Man 1970" video ! It's the song that got Bob national attention, and this version shows exactly how hard Bob used to rock !
Love how your both react to Bob Segar. I know you have reacted to Sammy Hagar Solo and with Van Halen but you got to hear his voice RAW loud and strong when he was so so young singing with Ronnie Montrose either Rock Candy or Bad Motor Scooter!
Amber and J, LOVED your reactions! I remember requesting this one early on and couldn't wait for you two to hear this one. "They do respect her but (( butt )), they love to watch her strut!" Such a great line and the double meaning on the word but!! 😁 One of my favorite tunes!! ❤ @RobSquadReactions
His first national hit was “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man”. It’s short, but it’s a raw rocking Seger from the early days when they were called the Bob Seger System. You’ll like it.
Thanks a million for responding to this one. My stepdad got me hooked on the amazing tunes of Mr. Bob Seger. Unfortunately my stepdad passed away in August of 2023 due to a medical condition he had been battling for nearly 4 years. This was a fantastic banger to him and me. We both loved it. The guitar solo is terrific on the studio recording but loses a bit live because it is played by a different person. Still one of his most overlooked songs. It's too bad because the studio recording has plenty of power. Thanks again ❤
I have been suggesting this one FOREVER--so glad you finally got to hear this side of Seger! ♥ Bob wrote this song about Jane Fonda, and while some nowadays see it as a bit sexist, Jane took it as the compliment it was intended to be--a description of an independent, confident, sexy woman. And I love the clever double entendre: "They do respect her but(t).." lol. For another high-energy Seger song, please check out "Rock 'n Roll Never Forgets" next!
Y’all are hitting a lot of my favorites the past few days👍👍👍👍Love Seger! Still waiting for you to do “C’est La Vie (You Never Can Tell)”. It’s a cover of the Chuck Berry tune, although it has a faster pace. A good choice for when you do another day of covers; Emmy Lou Harris also did a good cover of this song.👍
One of my FAV SEGER SONGS!! WOW - Ya'll are reacting to some GREAT ONEs, TONIGHT!! Love the lyrics to this one and the cadence to this one just SOUNDS like a chick walkin' down the street, swingin' her hips!!!! HUGS, YA'LL!!
The brilliance of breaking that sentence where he does is that it leaves the possibility of interpreting whether that word is a preposition or a noun, and how many Ts are used in its spelling.
Bob, never fails to please! I love the play on words, "They do respect her but/butt? They love to watch her strutt!" Did you ever listen to Kathmandu? I wish you could put a Playlist of his music so we'd know what to suggest. I don't think he/they have a song I don't like...that's saying a lot. God bless.
Yeah, here you have already Mentioned songs like “come to Papa” (filthy!) And I’ve suggested “Get Outta Denver“ But, really, let’s just have every few months a new great song by Bob!😂 It just doesn’t matter, they’re all great!
Love love love Bob. I know y’all have done a bunch of Bob Seger but you’re missing a great one. It’s called C’est la vie a French title but it’s not in French. Killer piano for Jay killer horns for Amber and it’s up beat up tempo fun it’s made for you two I promise.
This song never fails to bring back memories of a girl I saw walking down the street many, many years ago. Her strut caused me to slam on the brakes, pull over and introduce myself.
Bob Seger, the first album I ever remember hearing in my life. My Dad would play it. My dad was an alcoholic. My parents divorced when I was 5. For some reason Bob Seger always reminds me of good times because my parents were together. Although I had a bad relationship with my Dad overall . He drank himself to death at the age of 39. He was never there for me when I needed. He taught me how to be an amazing farther by doing what he did not do. I did not go to his funeral nor did I cry when he passed. I do understand he suffered from a disease and his father my grandpa a Korean war vet who suffered PTSD and pushed my dad into his bad habits that lead to his early end.
I know thank you every time people give out request. I always think it doesn't unlike it would never get played and like if the vehicle really like this.
This is by far my favorite Bob Segar song. They wrote this with Jane Fonda in mind. Love your reactions. Waiting patiently for you to react to Master of Puppets by Metallica. You will love it
@@traciwhite7891 - I find this story implausible for many reasons. The guy can't even spell Seger's name correctly, so I wouldn't trust anything from him.
@@shyman99 the following is from Wikipedia...Seger has also stated that "Her Strut" was inspired by political activist Jane Fonda and her appearance before the Campaign for Economic Democracies.[5][9][10] He stated "I was quite proud of her for doing that. I admired her crust. For going in there and having the strength to speak her mind, so I kind of wrote 'Her Strut' for an '80s woman ... you know, it was the dawn of the '80s, and I wanted to write a song about how women have become so confident and stepped out so much, and I thought Jane was a great role model."[5] AXS critic Jeff Wallace feels that Seger succeeded in his objective stating that the song tells of "a strong independent woman and how she won't be controlled by anyone."[9] Fonda has claimed to be flattered by the song, stating that "you’ll know why when you hear the lyrics."[......he may not spell Seger correctly but it seems his facts are right on point
@@allanjones1680 - I don't trust everything from that site. And the line in the song that men see her as the lady of their dreams is laughable. She was far from a desirable creature in 1980. Seger would have to tell me that himself and if he did, I'd ask him how much he got paid to make that statement.
I love Bob Seger so much and this is one of my favorites of his! Other good ones I don't think you have done are Fire Down Below, Still the Same, You'll Accomp'yn Me and Come to Poppa. He has so many great songs!
In 1975 while in college my neighbor told me I had to hear this guy because I would like it. My neighbor liked disco so I didnt think I would but I gave it a listen and I've been a big fan ever after. This is my favorite song by Bob Seger. Try " Get out of Denver or his cover of Nutbush city limits, Rambling gambling man or Rock and Roll never forgets.
Bob was also my very 1st concert. Maybe 1977. Bay City Central High School. Alice Cooper opened. I was 10. My oldest Sister and her Husband took me to it.
This is probably my favorite Seger song. It just kicks a$$. Have you reacted to his Come To Papa? Also rocks. As does Katmandu and Betty Lou's Gettin' Out Tonight. That last one makes me smile & brings crazy girls-night-out memories from the 80s. Hahaha. Blessings❤
From my favorite Bob Seger album "Against The Wind". I wore out that 8-track in my car! Other good songs on just that album is "Betty Lou Is Goin Out Tonight", "Horizontal Bop", and "No Man's Land". Heck, I liked all the songs on the LP. Thanks. 😎
LOVE Bog Seger! LOVE this song!! But he has MANY I love!!!💃💃 EDIT: Please check out “Night Moves”if you haven’t. Been watching y’all forever but my memory isn’t great. 😬👍
Growing up in Michigan in the 1980's. Bob was a musical God. His songs were on the radio constantly, along with Canadian bands like Rush, Triumph, Loverboy and April Wine. My youth revisited.
Nice to see Bob back on the channel. This is a great one. Along with Her Strut there were some other rockers on the Against The Wind album: The Horizontal Bop and Long Twin Silver Line. You already did Betty Lou's Gettin' Out Tonight from this album and The Fire Down Below from Night Moves. Some other Bob suggestions are Nutbush City Limits, Come To Poppa and The Famous Final Scene. Also check out Ramblin' Gamblin' Man from his first album in 1968. Enjoy!
My favourite rocking Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band song has to be the live version of Let It Rock, it is on 2 separate live albums Live Bullet and Nine Tonight. Both versions are definite rockers, it's an extended cover of a Chuck Berry classic track. I'm pretty sure you both will love it and find it a new found favourite!!
I don't think it's more rockin' but I think yall'd love COME TO POPPA. Ty so much for this one... personally can't get enough of Bob Seger on ur channel💓
one of Bob's best tunes. saw him do it live many times. always jammin'. (and fun fact: the #1 song amongst strippers worldwide) more good Seger > 'travlin' man/beautiful loser' from "Live Bullet", one of the best showcases of drumming ever. and of course Bob's vocals.
Fun fact: Bob Seger has always had great lead guitar players in his band. He mostly stuck to playing acoustic and piano. But here he plays the lead himself.
Seger's first hit, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, is definitely a good rocker but it seems to have been largely forgotten on the internet. I would love to hear you guys react to it and I think you would like it.
You HAVE to check out In Your Time, which he wrote for/about his son, Cole, who was born when Bob was 47. It’s really deep so be prepared to get the feels. The drums Her Strut are so important because you can feel each beat as a footstep and know what kind of ‘tude that strut has. Seger and SBB did not have any bad songs. You can pull up their discography on any search engine and randomly pick any listing and it will be banging. You may get anything from slow and wistful Against The Wind to the heavy hitting Her Strut but you can’t go wrong with anything.
Another fun memory of this is realizing the double entender of the way he sings the line, "They love to watch her, but, they LOVE to watch her strut", when they know damn well it is so easy to hear it as, "They love to watch her butt; they LOVE to watch her strut" ... lol. 😅
Thanks for bringing Bob back on the channel ! If you want to see yet another facet of the one and only Bob Seger, you should check out the song "Some day" from his Smokin OP's albumn.
Seger didn't make a bad song. This one is an all-time banger!!! "Night Moves" and "Her Strut" show the absolute talent of this man and his band! "Come to Poppa" and "Rock n Roll Never Forgets" are incredible as well.
Katmandu/Beautiful Loser. Betty Lous Gettin' Out Tonight. Old Time Rock n Roll....the highlight of the Tom Cruise movie Risky Business. Against the Wind is a nice easy listening tune.
