I love the fact that Boomerang Kuwanger praise X as more than a B-Class Hunter for his ability to go that far. This kind of dialogue is what this series needed, to show how X grow on his journey. Unlike the original series where X barely given any chance to have his moments and character development.
To be fair it was a different time and with what limitations there were in the snes, showcased X’s growth well in Megaman X1 by starting with Vile being unbeatable, to finally destroying him in the final stages with recognition by Zero. The player is supposed to identify with X in the snes version. Maverick Hunter X is better at showing X grow in the long run, allowing him to be a fleshed out character, portraying him as a pacifist torn apart by his internal conflict between peace and having to fight.
Some voices are better than others. I actually think some voices in the English dub are really good for the character (Octopus, Mandrill). But the JP voice actor for Thomas Light, with his desperate plea, still makes me tear up to this day.
