40 years ago I used a backyard cement mixer and two shot put spheres to easily grind ores. One is well advised to first remove the mixing fins 😄 Great presentation! Thanks!

pyrite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite , and chalcopyrite are all associated with gold. Gold precipitates cultures with in the clevages of FeFe pyrite and Cu Fe pyrite to make wire and flake nuggets as these pyrite types oxidize their sulfides to sulfate. The cool thing about pyrrhotite is its instability at the surface causes a corrosion of magnetite (Fe3O4) and rust Fe(OOH).....hence your rust stains and seams

I know a one place exatly same as you said , it is located in South east of Turkey , just a 100 km far from North Iraq. There is a thermal water and surrounded with very big mountains. The mountains are a white quarz. The place was a capital of assiyrian in the ancient history and there were a 17 gold mine there in the ancient history. Also, there are a silver ore near by. If you interested in it, please contact me. I am a miner too , but operating an iron ore , not operating a gold mine.

you learned as a child and then again as an adult, I had the exact same experience, I learned how to pan in an Alaskan river from an old Sourdough (what we called the old time prospectors in AK) at about ten years old, then got serious as a retired adult ordering dirt mainly From Eagle River Alaska where I lived as a child. I've panned about 1/3 of an ounce of gold so far and am ready to try panning now in Northern Indiana near my current home. . . . . funny how you catch the fever as a kid and then again as an adult

Great video, sir, thanks for sharing. I have a... I guess rock tumbler? We call them "Tauna" here in Mexico. It's basically two very large rocks that rotate on a rock bed floor, powered by a motor. It grinds the material down and we have mercury to bind with the gold. After we're done grinding our material, we wash out the mercury, then sift it through denim. Once we squeeze out as much mercury as possible, we burn the little ball (usually two thirds mercury, one third gold) and we're left with a little gold nugget. I started not long ago and have been working crappy material, so it hasn't gone well, but I have a friend that's getting 90-100 grams a week with his. I'm about to start mining one of his lesser quality wells, since he's on a great pocket right now and he's concentrating on that mine. It's old school here, very basic. I'm a veterinarian but I find this type of work very interesting. Hopefully I'll start getting some good material soon.

Thanx so much for your book review. With a lot of hobbies/topics, it's hard to find good books. I had already shelled out some money for some Gold Prospecting Books that were aweful. Then I bought "Gold Prospecting Handbook" & "Gold Mining In The 21st Century." Opened each of them to 3 random pages & was impressed each time. Could go on & on, but their easy to read, have top quality illustrations, & have an amazingly good balance - covers the Science behind Gold Formation/Loaction/Equipment, however is not too "Technical". Also they are not vague/general as many books that cover multiple topics, but only superficially. In these books there are loads & loads of very specific questions/scenario's that are fully explained. Wish I would have watched your Book Review before wasting my money on the crappy ones!

I made a simple crusher with a 3/8 inch steel rod,(a stainless steel keel bolt from a sailboat build), with a threaded end with a corresponding nut threaded onto the rod and flush with the end making a surface area on the end of the nut and rod in the centre. It fits into a piece of PVC pipe with a little extra room around it for expansion of crushed material. Just place material to crush on hard surface and place pipe over it and smash the hell out of it with the rod/nut. Pretty light and easy to carry and make.

Interesting video ! This "rock geology" is a bit beyond me ... but my strengths are material science and design. As such, I have made a few decisions along my "prospecting years" : 1) The gold pan concept is lossy as well as back-breaking ! 2) Searching for gold in the "dirts" demands something better than a pan; better even

This vid blew my mind. Jess, I live in Indiana County Pennsylvania, home of Jimmy Stewart, IUP college, & Christmas tree capital of the world🙄 (so you didn't have Indiana the state be where u remember me saying) Anyways, I've been excavating at my buddy's/customers place for close to a year now and over this time have become obsessed with rocks and geology in general. Why this is, is because I he has a slate hillside but off to the left, I started to unearth all of these beautiful colors of river rocks, and a bunch if this dark to light blue and green rocks and then have found a bunch of quartz. As I looked at all these rocks, I've found a Bunch of metals in the quartz and then realized there was areas of the slate that had a bunch of these metals too. The quarts has all these colors you spoke of and everything tends to have, gold colored, silver colored, and darker metallic pieces that aren't ever crystalline or flakey, but are often oddly shaled little micro pieces. All if the gild colored ones are not magnetic. Okay ill speed this up. I went back through and literally every single thing you said to look for, its there. Its pretty mountainous on my area of PA and looks like plenty of ground catastrophes have occurred in the past which makes me think that its really really old gold pieces mixed all through river rock looking quartz. How should I go about finding out what we have and i. Somebody told me that maybe the local colleges geological dept might be able to help. Oh, also, im pretty sure I've found old Indian artifacts. Stone-like or clay plates that have longsjncr been broken but I could tell they were Something, as I've done concrete for a long time and knew these were not natural integrity and Then I saw the smoking gun. The one has a stick figure carved into it that looks like a man shooting a bow and arrow, and the arrow is lobbing towards another figure crouched down. But here's what blew my mind equally. Its in one that actually looks like a carved stone plate, but it's not just scratched into this. It looks exactly like when I was in pottery class and would carve into clay with a needle tool. The indentations, depth, and even how it slightly affected the surrounding material outside the lines, it looks like It was carved into clay ,a stone would not do that and I dug it from a hillside under multiple feet of stone and clay. Jess i did a Google search and it looks to be depicting Orion shooting. Everyone's given me so much crap for being so enthralled/obsessed with rocks all of a sudden so I've been reluctant to show to anyone aside from my father. He agrees with me but neither of us can quite tell what's on the figures head. Anyways, sorry for the book and thanks for the video. This was so inspiring that I'm going to go there right now and start searching. 8:30p.m. on a cold Saturday . Lol take care

Thank you,Prospector Jess, now I know even better how to explain why I've seen strange lights and sounds around the areas I frequently camp and hunt for arrowheads. I do not remove the arrowheads or other artifacts, think about it, it was meant for an animal, and that human could've died for missing...I bet I take gold when I find it now. The only true currency over the last few thousand years of human bickering and dickering and docking

Very easy to understand thank you for sharing your experience with us. I just starting to enjoy looking for gold and gemstones in Australia we even have a place where a meteorite fell hopefully one day I will get to see the place 😊

I am panning in a small river in NH. There is a lot of ledge as base also there are many extremely large rocks in middle of stream. For a small time planner which would you spend your time on? This river is known to produce small amounts of gold.

With most of the rocks you show here Prospector Jess especially with gold can be visible out of the surface .. that does indicate more deposits underneath ..? The location was never been survey by it's depth of deposit. The area mostly mountainous and volcanic obviously.
