+Purple Turtle Yep is just that I suck too much xD, I play blitzkrieg bop but only without powercords, because I can't think fast enough to play them correctly. The sad thing is that I own both rocksmiths, a floating bridge Jackson guitar and a line 6 amplifier and can't use them correctly, I seriously need a guitar teacher.

+Kuromi Darklord just hire one for a month for him to teach you the ropes, although the RS2014 lessons are great

It sounds like maybe you should try bass may be easier for you because you hardly need to play chords

I've only been playing for a couple of months, not a lot more than 60 days on and off. I'm completely self taught with very little guidance, and I can honestly say I'm not sure what you're talking about.

If you pratice a lot every day like he did you can probablly reach that level.I have been playing for 4 years and it's not hard at all,and the fingers wont get numb if you are playing on an electric guitar.

1001avs Yes, it's true what you said, except about the daily training time regarding the guy in the video... the video makers said, the guy practiced only 1 hour per day. I think only with 60 hours experience he couldn't play like this.

None that I personally know of or have heard of. It's also only been what, 3 or 4 years since the games release? Odds are if anyone is making their own music, they aren't signed with any record labels, but who knows, maybe there is and they just haven't put that bit of information out there. It wouldn't be anything to be ashamed of, but one may be fearful of judgement when explaining how they started. Either way, some may have their own YT channel or something of that nature, where they share what they've come up with though. I've only just started playing myself, and a buddy of mine who won't admit he's very talented on the guitar, as well as you probably know, told me that the ears are very in tune with music. Odds are if you can hum it (correctly to an extent), you can play it. I've played it myself, and while I'm only in my first week of playing (and 3 days into Rocksmith), I'm struggling greatly with a lot of different things. That said, I don't think Rocksmith has any intention of teaching you the kind structure you're describing, as far as creating your own sound. That's just something you have to be capable of, or learn elsewhere I'd assume. Rocksmith is just giving you the general basics of what it takes to learn how to play a plethora of different kinds of songs, old and new. Guitar familiarization if you will. Different tuning styles, effects used, techniques like bending and sliding, basically how to read tabs, etc. It's just another tool to, not only help play their set list, but if you decide to try to cover (when you're comfortable in your abilities, ) of one of your favorites, you can now tune your guitar, read the tabs, and begin to actually play it. There's nothing like legitimate lessons from an instructor, but this is the budget route you could say, and you can do it from your home. I hope that kind of answers what you were asking.

InexperiencedGamer87 o yea one other thing as a new guitarist dont get upset about how you play it took me years to be able to play metallica solos correctly. Just remeber to unplug rocksmith every now and then and. simply play guitar. exploration on the guitar in your own way is essential for us guitarist sure it might not sound good at first but after awhile you will start to automatically know what to do. check out my channel i only have one short song on youtube but still thats 6 years of work to write and play my own stuff just be patient

I couldn't agree more. It can't hurt, if nothing else, to give it a shot. Someone like you who already knows how to play might just find it as something entertaining. Like the real deal Guitar Hero haha. Back to the last thing you said though, if you're talented at writing, like poems for instance, I think being a lyricist may just be something to possibly adjust to, or work at. James Hetfield (musician, singer, and songwriter for Metallica, (which I'm sure you knew lol, just clarifying for those who may read this at a later date) said he could never properly openly explain his feelings, so he would write, which turned into poetry, which evolved into songs. Once he would finishing writing, he would play and find a tune to it that worked, and I guess relay the rest to his band-mates to make some of the songs we know (and love). That's still tough though, because you can say a lot, but not necessarily be saying anything if that makes sense. I've just heard some "musicians" in recent years, who's lyrics don't seem to make much sense. Like random bits of rambling of sorts. I just think it's got to have some meaning/purpose behind it in some way. It doesn't always have to be deep, or some life experience, but the words need to be able to come together or flow in some way. Perfect example is knowing how "Welcome to the Jungle" came to be. I thought that was great. I don't know, it's just not always enough to have a killer melody or beat, you want something people can sing along with and it's not just nonsense lol.

Very sound advice. You are absolutely right now that I'm thinking about it. I'm sure Rocksmith is a decent teacher, but playing just the guitar without the other distractions, maybe even just some simple tabs, will be a nice break from the frustration. I'm definitely struggling, but I have to keep reminding myself that I'm only in week one, and the only other instrument I ever played before this in my 30 years of life was a trumpet back in middle school hahaha. I just have keep pacing myself, and take my time. There's no reason to rush. Even though I can't play much, before I even got Rocksmith, I would play the same 6 sets of intro tabs for hours on end, just trying to build up that forearm/wrist muscle and shoulder muscle so it doesn't feel so awkward or painful.

Yeah but this video says that he's just started learning on Rocksmith 2014, hence the 60 day challenge. He hasn't started from scratch at all if he played the original Rocksmith.

I'm pretty sure the group of people that they got together to make these videos were given the game with all the songs unlocked. You'll notice pretty much every video they're playing DLC songs at one point.

No, but it teaches you thing much more importand. Playing real songs. You can spend years not learning anything towards playing music, but with rocksmith you only do this one thing - play songs. Reading music, music theory and all this stuff can be learnt from youtube lessons (try SecretGuitarTeacher) - it is indeed important, but there is one problem. Theory won't make you a good guitarist. Practicing will. Theory is useful for creating and improvising. I've made a mistake trying to learn to improvize for two years now. I should have just learn simple songs and play them. Rocksmith is best idea as learning guitar goes. Priceless at this.

Marcin Wojtczuk But learning how to read music is extremely important if you want to play multiple instruments. I started on the double bass (upright bass) and then I got a bass guitar and it was like I never even left my double bass. Don't discount reading music that much.
