Fun fact: People from Rockstar and Volition worked on True Crime: Hong Kong. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hb4qMpO7JPY.html 4:34 It all makes sense now.
@@nativenigel7831 Sleeping Dogs was name made by SE. True Crime Hong Kong name was by Activision. They sold the game but not the name to SE. They worked on the game during Activision before new team started working on SD.
Yup and now it's become toxic as hell I stopped playing gta cause of these OP flying bikes and shit cause all we asked for was the jetpack from gta san Andreas that's it we didn't want copys of the freaken spectre from saints row and have it OP as shit no one asked for it
@@jimmynomadd9405 bruh you can see they look exactly the same and it makes no sense cause gta is suppose to be realistic and have regular vehicles but laser weapons, flying bikes, and orbital cannons who the fuck came up with ths stupid shit man gta is a crime simulator we ain't freaken secret agents and shit I mean the doomsday heist is literally copied from saints row 4 where in the beginning you gotta takedown 1 guy who wants to launch a nuke at Washington DC and then in gta we have a guy who wants to launch a nuke at los Santos they literally copied that shit from saints row as well but put more crazy shit like Robot juggernauts that turn invisible and also a clone army that's not even close to gta that's exactly what saints row 4 is
@@oohpaarjan4685 All of the games had their own charm to it which made it great! I wish people weren't so critical towards saints row 4 since it was genuinely an enjoyable game if you didnt take it too seriously
At least Volition confirmed Saints Row 5 is in development, we still have absolutely no word on GTA 6 just relying on leaks and rumors for any information I bet if GTA 6 still isn’t out or even announced by the time Saints Row 5 drops Volition will probably include jokes about that
@@NeonTheWolf they can joke all they want but in no way can they come close to what rockstar does, I hope they don’t rush the new one, they have disappointed in the past, rockstar showed us they can do the same thing
We are getting a 'remaster' of GTA V this year and it'll be as lackluster as the last graphics bump up dlc rolled into it with a few more bells and whistles maybe we got last time and somehow dare to call it a 'remaster' like nope. SRTT's remaster not even done by volition shits all over the remastered GTA V in lots of ways, though not perfect.
I've had the game for years. Still replaying and still noticing things i hadn't before. Last month was the first time i entered a store and a civilian was robbing it. And that capsized fishing boat not far from the suburbs dock.
The New one should definitely be based on sr2s principles, they don’t even have to take it over the top, with today’s technologies they can just expand on it instead of starting from scratch
Yeah it’s stupid in my opinion I love both of the games like I’m Really excited for Saints Row 5 and for the next Gta but It’s not going to come out until another million years haha
Man it was fun seeing some of the work I did 10 years ago. Lots of good times at Volition. I did the production work on the GAT V trailer and most of the copy I wrote made it into the final trailer. I was spoofing the silly “presidents Obama coins” they were selling on TV at the time. Our marketing department just wanted a silly kitchey trailer with the words GAT V so we could get it to trend on social. We payed money to make #GATV a sponsored hashtag so it would appear above #GTAV and it would auto correct on a lot of people writing about the GTA launch. Anyway we all considered it a success considering we hardly spent any money on it compared to other trailers we had done in the past.
Funny how Volition chose purple out of all colours to represent their protagonists' gang when Rockstar already had Ballas as the enemy gang from San Andreas onwards.
IKR? When I first saw that, I couldn't help thinking Volition did that on purpose as a joke about them rivaling GTA, lol. Purple was also the color of an enemy gang - the Nines - in GTA 3.
It would be cool to see an event on Volition VS Rockstar and have that Green VS Purple thing back except you'd dress as a GTA ONLINE tryhard for the gta side and dress as an abomination you made on Saints team xD
GTA 5 was so stale and boring overall with map interaction. Saint row reboot do have it charms but suffers like GTA 5 with that big empty desert and less saint row side fun. But the SR reboot has fun character creation and if saint row reboot become saint row 3 I'd take that shit over GTA 5 or 6. Assuming 6 is all about realism and boring side activities like sports. Who plays sport games in GTA 5? I don't like it and Sr 3 and 4 has the better side activities
"Would you rather" is for me the second best "BURN" moment in gaming history. The first one is Sony announcing their games were not gonna have drm restrictions... Ahh that day was magical ❤️
I know people will say that GTA online’s flying car and bike isn’t copying saints row since GTA SA has you steal a jet pack but come on! Saints row 3 has a flying bike then gta online has a flying bike? Saints row 4 has alien weapons and gta online has alien weapons? Come on! hell the GTA series has been mostly grounded in reality and toned down the crazy until GTA 5 and online!
Okay and? I seen morons say GTA 5 (It's never 4 because 4 is like the New Vegas of GTA, everyone will defend for the dumbest of reasons) copied Saints Row because there was a Monster Truck in-game
That’s not even a good comparison hell GTA SA had a monster truck. My point is what other gangster game has alien weapons and flying cars? Sure, the flying car may be a reference to the flying car cheat but like I said, GTA has been keeping things fairly straight after SA cause we don’t steal any jet packs like we did in that game. All I’m saying is GTA online went insane like the saints row series. Also GTA 4 is awesome, it’s more engaging than gta 5 that is just “LOL Millennials SUCK!”
@Deepflare12 Actually no, most of us normal GTA fans have respect for Saints Row and it's community, it's sites like IGN, Gamespot and others what were calling SR a GTA clone from back when the series was still new, it's just gotten worse as time went by, nothing to do with the fans, homie.
@@franklinclinton8409 👍, it's kinda like the reason I'm worried cause if violation goes back to the roots.. IGN, Gamspot, etc would call it a clone again..
@Adrian Scott ur mad bro and very wrong. U must be one of a handfull of people in the world that prefer sr to gta. The cars only had one speed in sr haha wtf
These are like the sweetest, most respectful jabs ever. You got both sides taking inspiration from one another and disguising them as jabs so people wont get the wrong idea or some shit lol.
@@taskforcekillah9722 Yes.. because laser guns and hover bikes originated from Saints Row. Be serious dude, there were games that had hover bikes and laser guns before Saints Row.
First off... Watching all those old Saints trailers REALLY makes me miss Saints Row... I sincerely hope the game brings things back to what the Saints are supposed to be. Second, I have always kinda enjoyed both games, though up to SR2 Saints Row has always been my favorite... Finally, something I just thought of... Wouldn't it just be some shit if at some point Rockstar and Volition got together and either made a cross over between the two, OR partnered on a new franchise together? I have no clue what it might be like, but with the experience of these types of games between the studios it would just about be guaranteed to be absolutely fricking awesome...
That might actually be dope. Saints Row never felt like a good game to me. The shooting, movement & driving felt like the last things the devs cared about. The put so much focus on silly jokes & ridiculous customization that they forgot the game has to be played.
@@SCREAMILLUSION Never said it would have to use Rockstar's engine... But, yeah, I know how unlikely it would be, I just think that together they could make something absolutely epic, that's all.
I know it'd almost definitely never happen for a long list of reasons but I've always wondered what a collaborative piece of work between Volition and Rockstar would be like.
@Adrian Scott LOL good point. There is a game I used to play on ps2 called "Gun" which was a western cowboy game. Fast paced arcade style almost. So I guess they can just make it like that.
@@tylercouture216 I didn't say I *only* wanted to see Rockstar and Volition collaborate, I said I'd be interested in seeing what a Rockstar and Volition collaboration would look like, there's a big difference.
I remember an interview with a developer from Rockstar games and he compared Grand theft Auto v driving to Saints Row driving. I forget the exact quote because it's been 7 years But he said that Grand theft Auto 5 driving mechanics are better than Saints Row because Saints Row cars are magnetized to the road. I found it interesting because typically when doing press you don't compare your games to other games.
As a fan of both i would just like to say no matter what side you are on we can all agree San Andreas and saints row 2 stood above the mountain as the best ever made
Great informative video! I had no idea the Saints colors were originally green. And it's pretty crazy how the color in GTA:SA made Volition worry so much that they had to change the color to purple in their own game.
"I'm sure it's a matter of time that these studios clash once again." That so far seems like a landslide with GTA 6 winning(besides being GTA) given the trailers for the Saints Row Reboot being very little of what Saints Row. Even though it changed it's tone from 2 to 3 it still had a iconic image of Gold, Purple, and a whole lot of silly gangster actions while the reboot is more watchdog fortnight than Saints Row.
Same, Im bored of GTA V and RDR2 so much so I bought SR3 and SR3 Remastered. Never had so much fun in terms of craziness. Levelling respect and buying invicibility by tank rampages on gangs? Why not!
If you haven't already I think you should make a video on why they haven't remastered or re released sr1 and sr2 from your point of view also great work on this video loved watching it
Great video! Honesty we as fans of both series won here. One gave us the realism of life, and the other the wackiness of video games. Being a fan of both IV and SR2. we had the best of both worlds. Grity realism of IV, and SR2 content with different things to do!!
Interesting to see the overall comparison/differences and jabs between Rockstar & Volition, but had no idea that the 3rd Street Saints were originally going to be green too😮 pretty cool seeing a lot of those old/original trailers & gameplay footage, along with those gameplay ads too😂👍
The best answer to this debate has always been “If you’re looking for realistic gameplay and mechanics then go with gta” “If youre looking for ridiculously funny and wacky gameplay, go with SR
Thats why saints row ended up where it was. You got to add on "a gritty realistic underbelly view of what goes on in a decaying city" VS "bank heist go brrrrrr" you cant make that comparison for gta iv though
This was my first time ever viewing the would you rather trailer... Watching all the villains be playable and fucking around in that trailer was hilarious
Volition was a subsidiary of THQ, when THQ went bankrupt it was sold to Deep Silver. During the auction, even Take-Two was interested in buying Volition
Pierce’s heist plan In Sr2’s first Ronin mission is a deliberate reference to the casino plan in San Andreas that’s infamously convoluted. So in saints row 2 they just skip to the fun part pointing out It was a waste of time that no one would have wanted to sit through.
@@OkachaWasTaken yeah it is. It references everything up to the black out part of the plan, even joking about shaundi sleeping with a dealer for the security code, something you “have” to do in San Andreas to get the security codes. It couldn’t be more obvious.
Rockstar is bigger and more succesful. Especially lately, and have always provided updates and online gameplay which makes it that much better. None the less, I would still rather play an older saints row game (1 or 2) over any of the older gta's. If volition wants to become bigger, and compete with gta, then they need to step up on their online gameplay and definetely graphics, as well as a better story.
