I dunno, maybe any of the Rocky training montages. They're all badass because each one is different, and in each one he had a different obstacle. I think Rocky Balboa had the best because you knew that was it, no more rocky bouts.
The fact that the first film the training montage ends with him running up a flight of stairs and the ending of this film's montage is him running up the top of a big mountain is simply beautiful.
There used to be a statue of Rocky at the top of those steps (Philadelphia Art Institute), it was moved because so many people went there to see it and not the art inside. I was lucky enough to get my picture taken next to it.
This scene from the movie proves that it's not about the technology and sophistication of the training that builds strength, its the determination and will behind that training that counts.
I love the contrast between Rocky and Drago with this. Drago is surrounded by computers and scientists. It’s artificial. Everything he does is a simulation of the real thing. But Rocky does it for real. This peaks with Rocky climbing the mountain and Drago on the treadmill incline. Rocky finished with a victory. He beats the mountain. He climbs until there is no more mountain left to climb. But you never finish a treadmill. So there’s no victory. Instead, you run until you are too tired. So while Rocky ends when he wins, Drago ends when he quits. And it’s like this with everything. Each exercise we see Rocky do with real objects, Drago has a parallel with fancy high tech equipment. The only thing Drago has the Rocky doesn’t have is the drugs. Drago’s PEDs don’t have an obvious parallel with Rocky. But I think Rocky’s match for it is Adrian. Real human connection, his relationship with Adrien is what drives him and gives him the extra boost. Love beats Drago’s steroids.
@@AlexE5250I didn’t realize it until rewatching this montage but seeing drago stop on the treadmill while watching Rocky continue to run up the mountain should have been foreshadowing for how Rocky would outlast him in the ring.
Adrian was the woman every warrior need to get his shoulders when times are hard, and yes this training 💪🏻 not only is pure heart , but endure the elements makes you harder , what a classic
Anytime I'm on a treadmill at the gym and feel I'm about done, I put on the rocky tracks especially Rocky 4. Instant energy boost!!!!! It's like a preworkout in a song lol
I was 14 when this movie came out. I watched Rocky with my dad when I was 5 and totally fell I love with Rocky.. to this day I do a Rocky marathon when life is getting to me.. I know might sound corny but Rocky has been an inspiration my whole life.. Thank you Sylvester Stallone for giving the world Rocky.. ❤️❤️❤️
Right there with ya. I grew up in Philly and still live here. The very last part of the credits of Rocky Balboa where he’s looking out over Philly with the snow falling makes me cry for a hundred reasons. But Rocky IV was the only one I saw in the theater, and the one that I always loved most for the training scenes. … Well, except for the infamous climb up the Art Museum steps. They are inspirational and wonderful movies.
The Rocky IV soundtrack won the award for Worst Musical Score at the 6th Golden Raspberry Awards. What a bunch of fools they are! This is in my opinion the best and the most motivational music for a workout ever made. Edit: thanks all of you for the likes.
Man, are you serious!? I love the music in this one. Don't get me wrong, I also love Eye of the Tiger and Gonna Fly Now, but think this really is my favorite soundtrack.
There were a lot of Socialists (We called them "Communists" back then) who were cheering for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Yeah, it was crazy when American Hollywood Commies gave this soundtrack their middle finger. But their selections were always so egregiously zany that I think "awarding" Rocky 4 was teh straw that broke the camel's back - and they abolished the awarding council - so the award no longer exists. Take heart; the Raspeberry award's demise is actually just more proof that Rocky 4's soundtrack is one of THE best ever.
What's sad about is, that the heroes of my childhood will soon disappear. I don't can imagine a world without Stallone, De Niro, Pacino, Eddie Murphy, Schwarzenegger and all the other actors of that era.
Problem is, these great films immortalise the actors. They never age until we see them on a newer film and then it’s a massive hit of reality and nostalgia
Cuando me siento sin fuerzas ver sus videos de rocky me llena de energía y motivación para seguir adelante en todo aspecto, Rocky no solo es película es cultura y lección de vida para nunca rendirse. ❤️🎶
One of the deeper messages Sly intended to convey with all this was the unbreakable grit, drive, and tenacity Rocky had. He didn't have all the top science and technology and team of coaches at his fingertips. He just had passion, determination, and heart. And that was what allowed him to defeat Ivan Drago. It wasn't about how hard he could hit. It was about how much he could take and keep moving forward, never giving up. It's a great metaphor for life.
GuppyPal it was also the parallel that Rocky Balboa, at his core, always trained like an old school boxer because those methods worked. I always felt that Drago was trained to be a killing machine. To end fights quickly, but like Apollo, nobody took him the distance. He never had his metal tested. Rocky was used to going 15 rounds. When he cut Drago, then he became the unbreakable iron as Drago described him. He broke Drago's spirit and thus took his heart. No matter how many punches Drago threw Rocky kept coming even after being knocked down.

GuppyPal and threw his tenacity courage and heart he was able to unite two bitter countries locked in a Cold War. Not through pc political pandering or saying the right thing or being a sensitive pansy but by willing to risk it all against all odds to fight for his fallen friend without at the same time consumed by hate for the Russian people. They could see his open heartedness
Are you kidding me? I agree with you.. but not about the technology lol Rocky was way richer and from a way more advanced country than Drago. He could have had those machines! The difference was that he wasn’t taking steroids ( lol in real life he was though..) rocky just didn’t need or want the technology, even if he could have easily had it. it wasn’t his way to train
I thought the Adrian motivational speeches in Rocky 2 and Rocky 4 were the best --- very simple but powerful "I'm always with you" --- the Rocky 3 speech was kinda cringey and preachy to be honest LOL
Yeah at first she didn't support him and told him you can't win, that was hard blow for Rocky nevertheless he carried on, when she showed up and showed she really supported him no matter what, that's when Rocky gained his full confidence and took his training to another level.
I think this is one of the best scenes from all of the Rambo movies. I really enjoy watching all of the Rambo series because they are very entertaining movies and adventurous and exciting. I think I'll go watch Rambo first blood right now, and so will I.
Penso che le parole nn possono bastare per un attore di questo spessore, ognuno di noi trova la forza ad andare avanti quando nn ne può più e molto di quella magia è grazie a lui grazie per sempre Rocky.
Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.s
Somehow seeing Rocky using nature and the environment and the Earth itself to train had a spirituality to it that was a lot COOLER than all of the high tech science Drago was using.
Students study hard and you easily steal their ideas from their brains. Sounds like a good deal. Fighting for freedom. New slavery. It is my responsibility. I thought everyone should know. We are imprisoned in a place whose slogan was freedom. Don't travel to the USA. Never even for a short time. If you have any special knowledge or skills or an invention, they will steal it from your mind. The US government initially used this method to identify people who intended to harm the United States. But today, they use it for many purposes, including stealing information from people, stealing data from people's minds. And many celebrities like Taylor Swift and Harry Styles are helping to lure the US government. They'll see whatever you see. You'll never have privacy even with your wife or girlfriend. They'll see whatever you think. When Taylor Swift said I use my best colors for your portrait, she meant it's one of the newest things they're using. Or when she said, "Touch me, and you'll never be alone." Your silence would help them to do it again and again. They said, don't say anything because of The USA. I want to take her to court. They wanted to pay me $1,000,000, but that was not what I asked from them. Those are not only songhe (Taylor Swift) likes A writer of crime stories whose stories are authentic and have committed all the murders. Taylor Adolf Hitler, the Humans, are not your laboratory mice. I was used as a laboratory mouse to test new products. Sometimes what we hear are like warning lights to prevent accidents. Music is always a good form of encouraging movement. In an old gym I used to work out in, my trainer would play that music to get me moving. How I miss him. He die a while back, took his own life. Also in a lot of Karate Tournaments, they would play that music too.
Even in 2018 this whole scene just screams motivation. Stop being complacent, do more with yourself, get out of your comfort zone, and do more, be more, live more. Thanks for posting, time to start pushing myself and stop living life lazily.
I remember when I first ran in a snow storm, it didn't take more than 10 seconds for me to lose breath and stamina because of the cold filling my lungs This man ran all the way to the top of a mountain.
The older I got the more I realized what a classic the first film was. When I was a boy Rocky IV all the way. As a man, the first film is the one I feel the most.
What I find fascinating about this whole sequence, aside from what others have mentioned about Drago's training using high-tech and government sponsorship, while Rocky is sticking to the humble (if still fierce and harsh) outdoors, is how everyone is helping Drago, but Rocky is helping other people; an American helping the Russian commonfolk with various tasks, showing that spirit of harmony, even between Cold War nations.
Over 30 years old and some of the training methods seen here still hold water today. Oldskool running, climbing and lifting. It's like math, it remains true.
Incredible fight montage and Rocky 4 was about pure heart and determination, avenging his fallen brother in Creed was just the tip of the iceberg. As Rocky felt guilt for not throwing in the towel that type of guilt weighs heavy on the heart and soul and his true strength shines through by not giving into his feelings of hate and anger but using them as weapons to become stronger.
I also agree that Rocky 4 is the best rocky movie. I have watched all 5 Rocky movies( Including the 6th one which is named Rocky Balboa) and I have to say Rocky 4 stood out to me. Rocky 4 might have been well received had Stallone not made the fifth Rocky. It felt like Rocky 4 was supposed to be the last movie. It had every montage from Rocky to Rocky 3. Killing off Apollo would have made sense. Making Dolph the perfect villain in which everyone hated him. To be honest, I didn't see any political stuff other than Russia. I thought the movie was about not only Rocky avenging Apollo's death but to also change the perspective on Americans and that no matter what, you can change who you are. This is true when Russia fans started chanting for Rocky. They turned on Drago. I agree its the best soundtrack ever.
Most Boxing organizations do not allow beards as a thick beard can be seen as cushion/protection during a fight. Hollywoodwise however, anything goes. I do agree that he looked badass with it.
Me but only calisthenics, never machines, machines are for the weak, only free weights and my own body weight, thats what turns you into a beast, anyone in the gym can do machines, how many can hold a dragon flag like rocky did in this? Probably 1 or even 0
I broke my lower back and spent the next 3 weeks watching the RU-vid free Rocky marathon, and I had the faith that I would conquer this condition, and I fought my way out of it.
I queued for what seemed like days to watch this film upon its first screening. The atmosphere was incredible. Never experienced anything like it in a cinema setting before or after. Utterly incredible.
Those body lifts in rocky 4 ,he was in his mid 30s.Sly now in his mid 70s & can STILL do them.....Bravo Sly for proving that age is still just a number!👍
Why did it take me into my 40’s to realize the symbolism of the mountain to scene to show that Drago blinked first and Rocky went higher and triumphed....gosh I’m as deep as a puddle 😔
Ok I need to go back and watch. I had no idea... Stallone was the best director in the 1980's, period. He is one of the smartest movie makers of all time. No person has ever made 4 masterpieces in a row, based on a fight, and a man's relationship with his wife.
When I was younger I used to just focus on the fighting and action scenes now that im older I almost shed a tear at Adrians loyalty...now days most most women would never be the 1st to say they miss you after a argument lol
I remember when I used to watch Rocky in this part of the movie, I used to visualize that was me training for the big fight. Good old days. These movies never get old. The Italian Stallion.
What is so motivational about this video apart from the music, is that Rocky knew that aside from Adrian and Duke, that Apollo and Mickey were in his corner. It's all about spirit 💪
"..now you're gonna have to go through hell.. worse than any nightmare you every dreamed.. but in the end, I know you'll be the one standing. You know what you gotta do.. Do it. Do it."
When I first saw the movie, I always wondered how he was coping after his friend died in the ring. After seeing him crumple the picture and the look on his face, my thoughts were "Drago has no chance. Nyet, none!"
My sentiments exactly long as you got the you know the passion for it whatever you do you know whatever your heart desires you know you work hard at it you can achieve anything and when you work hard at it you don't you know you don't have to use anabolic steroids to help you achieve all your goals
That's stupid. It depends on the kind of equipment you use if you actually want strength. You wanted to post a "motivational quote" but ended up saying something dumb
3:45 A timeless and powerful look from the Bearded Stallonester when he sees Adrian there. What a movie. What a soundtrack. What an era. What a memory.
Hahaha no ordinary person can do this kind of intense physical training. I'm into martial arts and my old karate teacher used to tell me that boxers may have fewer moves but they can still easily beat up karate guys because they've been trained to take a lot of physical punishment.
***** it doesnt matter about big muscles its about technique and strength i been trainnjng in ju jitsu and im 5,7 i won a guy who was 6,1 he was much bigher
So inspiring, never get tired of rocky film's especially with drago. Don't think anyone else could have been rocky but sly, made for him. Thanks sly, & all the music is really fantastic. 💯👌👍😀🎶🎹🥁🎸🥊🥊🥊
When I first watched this as a kid, I always thought Drago was superhuman until Rocky beat him. But then as I got older, I realized what the needle was about during this scene. Therefore, my thoughts about Drago being superhuman went out the window.
Training in a low oxygen/cold environment would definitely change you more than just intense work out machines. But Drogo still has the natural advantage. Creed called him slow.... lol :(
Don't judge dislikes on younger people just because anyone born in the 90's/2000's onwards have not seen this movie, I know plenty of kids, teens and people in their early 20's who love these Rocky Movies. I am only 15 but I truly love all the Rocky movies. I have seen all seven.
