I listen to this speech every time I am feeling depressed and wanting to end it all. It resonates so much truth and makes me not want to give up. I think every kid needs to hear this.
My father passed away when I was 16. By that time he started to teach me that the life is not easy and only being honest and work hard is going to bring me success. My life was a roller coaster for few years after is death but I found strength to finish the High School and College with high grades. In this speech Stallone reminds my father who was trying to prepare me for being the man and not a coward. 37 years later I still miss him.He would have been proud for what I have achieved. I miss you Dad!

Nothing worth having comes easy. I'd Rather die fighting than nothing. That's how you make a legacy, that's how you let your name be heard. Life is a game of sacrifice. You can't be the best unless you give a little bit of blood and sweat. You have to work hard. All it takes is determination. If you did something and it went shit, at least you tried. If you stay what you are and remain shit, don't blame anyone just because you didn't have the guts to do it. Living poor is okay, but if you die poor, it's your fault. Because you didn't do anything to get things done for yourself. Don't be afraid to take risks. Don't be afraid to get hurt. You gamble everything when you don't gamble at all. I saw this movie some years ago and now that i´m a father i can understand what it mean when Rock said "you grow up good and wonderful. It was great just watching, every day was like a privilege" and sure it´s, i remember this words every time that my beautiful daugther give me the privilege to watch her grow up close to me.

Rocky was raised at streets , he learned life hard . Rocky fits in an other's movie speech (G.I. Jane ) when Masterchief said " I've never saw a wild thing sorry for itself " That's exactly what Rocko was/is , a wild thing . His son was raised protected (and that was Rock's obligation ) , but no matter what he was teaching him (because I don't think that words like that wasn't ever told at their family ) his son choose not to hear and only enjoy protection. In that case he must blame only himself! After all Rock made a short repeat of lifetime principles to him in just 2 minutes! (My own point of view having seen all Rocky's movie ... )
I'm 16 years old and I always watch this cause my it reminds me of my dad and the way he talks to his son that's how my dad talks when I miss up or when we talk to each other. And when I go down hill I'll watch this video and listen to my dad. I love you dad
I am watching this after failed to sustain in my dream. It's one month Ieft my passion, two days before I got my first month pay check but there is no reason to be happy still now I am believing I can beat the market, somewhere inside my heart there is a feel only my passion going to make me successful not my engineering graduate🙋

My motto in life is.. "being tough is the most important thing... ".. sometimes I forget that.. when you feel like dying.. step back for a while.... even if you hit Rock bottom... then come back.. This scene made me remember it... I'm in my mid 40s now.. I had my share of many failures and some success.. but then stepping back for a while.. Stepping back is the new thing I learn... I know there is someone to be blamed.. nonetheless.. I already got rid of that... now it's time to move on and get up..
Don't wish or wait. You got to hear it is all that counts. My pop had trouble speaking after I was 14 since he was dead. I SEARCHED for his replacement for 20 years..and got used along the way because people saw my weakness...but though I missed pop I didn't need him for me to know what was wrong and right and what I had to do in life. Too often I didn't do it. I'm 52. You ever want a wealth of knowledge on what NOT to do, i'm your man. That you want to hear it from your father says a lot of goo things about you. Don't let anyone or anything, especially those little voices in your head that say "you can't" tell you what's possible. You sound like you're worth a lot. Go out and get it.

My old man left when I was only 5. Growing up was hard cos I was never taught how to be a man, instead I was shown fake versions of what men do; join a gang, hate the cops, never commit to one woman, get ahead even if it means betraying those closest to you, act tough and never run from a fight... It wasn't until I met my wife that I learned what a real man is... I'm not there yet, but it's a continuous process of trying to be a better husband and an even better father than my old man was..

Because you want everything to be easy and served on a plate like in a restaurant. Well life is not a restorant. It is a place of experience where you prepare your own food and don't feel like someone else should. So stop waiting your time and energy thinking it should be easy. Because it's not. If it were easy nobody would incarnate to this world at all. This is Earth game and everyone in this game are on hardcore mode. There is no other one. So get yourself together and build your life the way you want it to be. And don't expect that somebody is going to build it for you. That's your job.
