This entire scene, I think should go into the video "Acting for dummies". THIS is a... well I think it's one of the greatest scenes he has done. Him and Paulie (forgot actor name off top of head) Very, very well done. It's one of the times you see Paulie and Rocky connect on an emotional level and for lack of better words, this is a very powerful scene, not just for Rocky films, but in all.

People always rag on Stallone and his acting but I just don't understand why. If the Rocky movies aren't a perfect representation of how well he can act, I don't know what is. In my opinion, Rocky 6 is a masterpiece.

+Anerthony Ricci I couldn't agree more. His character is such a relatable representation of everyone's struggles. The way he looks around, the way he hunches over, the way he talks and especially the way he dresses. Just an average looking joe walking down the street with a life story to tell. To me that's better than all the action packed cheesy movies. Rocky has always been about relating to the audience and in this movie that was most apparent.

I remember watching this movie when I was going through a very very dark Time in my life, I remember crying a lot, but it was super relatable. scenes like this make me feel like I'm not alone on those days that all I can do is limp along through the hard days. at times it doesn't seem like he's acting, it's like slys projecting these real life lessons to the audience.

One of the most genuine portrayals of emotion on film. Those who have experienced any kind of substantial loss or depression can relate strongly to the turmoil he's going through. Sometimes you have good or bad days, and sometimes memories and feelings hit you like a train out of nowhere and it's hard to keep it together. The intensity of Rocky's pain after Paulie mentions Adrian is palpable, an excellent performance by Stallone.

I feel for Rocky in this movie. He's hurt, in pain, and doesn't know how to cope. He's smart enough not to drink or anything, but being the simple guy he is, he's not sure how to handle it. Adrian was his rock, she was his coping mechanism throughout his life. That's why he wants to fight. The "stuff in the basement"is his grieve, and anger over Adrian's death and the only way he knows how to deal with those things is by fighting.

Stallone once said of Rocky: "Every day I truly miss that character so much- I tell ya, sometimes I could just cry. Because I'll never have a voice like that again where I can just speak whatever I feel in my heart. That's the one thing I'll always cherish about that character, because if I say it, you won't believe it, but when Rocky said it, it was the truth."

F*ck, man. I can't watch these Rocky scenes without crying. It connects so well. That's why they are all great. Even though he was talking about his own (Rocky character) adversities and pain of what was lost, just the few subtle words like "You know some times it's hard to breathe" and "I just never knew it was suppose to be this hard" immediately grabs you and connects because it hits too close to home. You know exactly what he is feeling because we have all experience lost and failure and have been on the verge of defeat. It's too real and very few films do that.

This is still one of the most, outstanding well written pieces I've ever read here. I was a Combat Marine, NEVER cried, not even at my sisters funeral. But now, as I get older, I cry at a drop of a hat. I can't even control it. And my mother just had a massive stroke and cannot speak. They said it was so bad, she'll be lucky if she gets back 35% of her brain function. I cannot stop crying now and I cannot allow her to see me do that or I won't be strong for her. I'm only 50, and I feel like a pussy crying so much. But as I become older, it does get harder to breathe. Amen to that.

The Rocky saga is probably one of the hard hitting movies you can watch. Just watching him go from his young and spry self to the older and nearing his end self is w scary but needed thing. You cant stay young forever but, that doesn't mean you have to lie down and let life walk over you. And then Creed shows that you have something to offer with your experiences so, use them to guide the next generation.

Paulie is a hater and ungrateful mean prick bastard who was really a burden and useless throughout the whole series. Even if he is being real in this scene but overall, he's exactly what I said. I think it was rocky 3 when the bitch was getting wasted and mad at life cuz he didn't achieve anything and he was trying to fight rocky. Then rocky had to tell him that he had nobody to blame but himself for not achieving shit in life. I had a friend just like Paulie and some cousin's like that. Guess what, I'm glad I got rid of them. dondee500k He could have done more good movies. I mean he can act. people thought that Clint Eastwood wasnt a good actor due to Dirty Harry or all the Westerns he made but when he got taken serious more is a actor/director with films like Unforgiven and Pale Rider that all went away. Stallone has misfired on a lot of movies and roles he turned down. But he's not the worst actor of all time. Honestly when he wants to act hes better then most of the so called actors of today's world. Roger Ebert said he had the chance to be The next Marlon Brando. if he would have done more serious movies. granted Rocky V was terrible but the other 5 was great. and Cop Land too.

The look by Paulie at 1:36 is everything. He is seeing the reality and hardness of life hitting Rocky all at once. Paulie has had these feelings all his life and now after all this time it hits Rocky.

This scene from the movie was unforgettable and very emotional. The beast that was inside Rocky was a combination of grief and anger. For him loosing Adrian was difficult because she was such a big part of who he is, her love and unconditional support gave him the strength and power to win those fights. When a loved one dies the pain is unbearable but as long as you keep them in your heart the memories will always stay alive.

As he put it, "We fill gaps." To lose someone who has completed you and who you are for almost thirty years? I can't begin to imagine that kind of hurt. So when he goes on to say "I didn't know it was supposed to be this hard. It wasn't supposed to be like this." I lose it every time.

This was such a goof film. Stallone was so perfect. It was so very real. No comic book stuff like the third and fourth installations. It was the Rocky we came to know in 1976. Just a real guy from the mean streets of Philly but with a heart of gold. Rocky is probably my favorite character of all time, I just love the hell out of the guy.

Man I remember watching this in the theater when it came out after I had gotten back from over seas because my father had passed. And I saw it with an old female friend of mine that have never seen me cry or anything, but when this part came out and paulie says "Are you mad cause Adrian left you?" "She didn't leave paulie, she died" My heart sank Then the crying monologue happens and I just lost it.

This is really just a great scene between two great method actors ( yes I called Sly a great actor, which he is!) Anyone who has seen Burt Young interviewed knows this is really him channeling himself. The " is it angry?" response is so HIM, Burt really talks like that, deep guy. I really feel that Burt was/is a truly underated actor. In my opinion the real love story of Rocky has always been these two, true friendship between two very different men. Paulie gives Rocky these pearls of soulful wisdom while Rocky loves Paulie because he knows there is a good man inside that alcoholic haze. Sorry to be so dramatic but that's hows I feel em!
@cisio64123
@cisio64123 8 лет назад
+Tommy Petersen I love the friendship between Rocky and Paulie too. It's been really great to see how their friendship changed and grew over the years. In the first Rocky they were two down and outs who supported each other. Then Rocky got his shot at the big time and he took his buddy with him. Even though Paulie was a drunk and went along for the ride, you didn't hate him because you always knew he did truly love Rocky as a brother and was absolutely loyal to him. Paulie was always there in Rocky's corner to help in any way he could. Paulie did soften and grow with age as this scene shows. Paulie wasn't so great with emotion in the first few Rocky films, he couldn't even stay with Adrian when she was in her coma because he couldn't handle it. This scene shows the depth Paulie had gained when Rocky laid some really heavy emotion on Paulie and Paulie listened and supported him in a very caring way.
