*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.
Thanks for watching!

The other areas to avoid are anything referencing an OHV area or staging area. Not all, but many of the OHV people generally don't give a crap about anything, they leave trash, they will camp right next to you and crank up a generator and not think twice. (Off-Highway Vehicle) 4-wheelers, side-by-sides etc.

If you haven't been there already, Aguirre Springs on the east side of the Organ Mountains is awesome. There are trails leading up from the campground with the peaks towering above. You can stop in there and then continue to White Sands NP for a completely different experience.

So sad and you really have to protect your property and yourselves... even I'm the Land of Enchantment. Having spent 4 winters at a federal wildlife refuges in NM ... with an active rail track... we were always made aware to watch for transients... back as far as 2015. But it is a beautiful state. Take care.

Hello Brian , Kelly and Hobbs. Well that sucks that Solar panels were stolen from a neighboring camp site. Personally I would never leave anything out that can be stolen so easily. I honestly would hate to leave any part of my rig behind unattended. More than likely it was not a fellow camper that stole the panels.

I was taught the cacti with the singular tall bloom is a century plant. It only has the tall stalk once in one hundred years, then the plant dies. It does bloom short blooms but the tall stalk only once every hundred years

Thanks for sharing. I often pass through Las Cruces, but it's often just a waypoint for a longer trip from Texas to the West Coast. Next time we're in that area, will make a point to visit that spot. BTW, don't blame you for not wanting to bushwack to the mine shaft. Besides the cactus and stickers, rattlesnakes would probably be getting active during this part of the year.

When you see a lot of soot on the ceiling of caves and cliff dwellings, it has been utilized as a home for ancestorial natives, and possibly many different peoples over the eons. Some of the smaller well insulated buildings found on cliff dwellings may also have partial soot. They built these as storage areas for corn and other seed. A small fire inside after filling with the food products and then seal the entrance with slab rock and mud. The fire extinguished, soot would cover some of the ceiling (helped preserve the food and perhaps a rodent deterrent) Thought you may find this interesting after seeing the soot on the cave ceiling in your video.

Another beautifully recorded hike, thanks Brian. I grew up in a low income area of Los Angeles and theft was not uncommon, not as common as it is now for sure. I believe everyone should lock it down and try not to tempt the desperate/criminal element as they are by nature lazy...put a lock on it and they'll move on til they find some fool who didn't, ask any cop.

Beautiful place.. Saldy when I have vacationed in NM I was stollen from too. Didn’t stop me from returning. I just need to remind myself I am not in my small home town in Michigan & LOCK UP EVERYTHING! Double check it’s locked & NOTHING is even visible in the car. I remember someone even saying “don’t lock your car because they will bust out windows just to see if you have anything in there because it’s locked & then you have to replace windows. I am speaking of rental cars ONLY here. I fly in & rent a car.

I'm like, "Oh! Wait! That's the Organ Mountains in Las Cruces!" I was just there in February. My aunt and uncle sold their camper. They kept it in Sunny Acres RV Park because they'd move it out of their storage, which is pretty cool, when you decide to come down to visit. They'd stay during the winter, and wouldn't have to drive their truck and trailer, so it was a lot more economical. $550 per month or something to use it with the security and all the amenities I don't think is too bad.
@DeliberateNRandom
@DeliberateNRandom 4 месяца назад
You didn't get all the way up to the sanitarium and hotel? That was really awesome! A nice lady in the visitor lounge had made some rocks that she had carefully drawn on as a free gift for donations, because you can't sell personal items. And since it's a national park, you can't take the rocks, so she made it aware that she gets them from other locations. I did put a knife in my check-in bag for protection. My aunt said a police officer had been recently killed by a homeless person and was attacked in a vacant building and stabbed. We also dealt with people asking for money while you pay at the pump, so I'd just keep an eye out while she would pump gas if she didn't want me to do it for her. It was beautiful, though. We went down to Puerto Palomas in Mexico and the Pink Store, which had lots of fun goods. I got a great deal on a hoodie, I got a painting and some fun gifts. We also stopped at Sparky's World Famous Burgers in Hatch, very cool burger joint, and The Adobe Deli was a VERY interesting restaurant. Just cool to look around at the stuffed animals and other interesting sights, like the old trolley. River Bend Hot Springs in Truth or Consequences on the Rio Grande is the nicest place I've been to for a peaceful soak. No loud talking allowed. We also went to the museum in Las Cruces. It's an absolute must! Rooms and rooms of petrified wood! No charge! Three Rivers Petroglyphs were really awesome to see, and we got ice cream at Pistachioland on the way back. White Sands National Park was really cool, too! I'd like to just walk around in the sands for a while. 275 square miles and 4.5 billion tons of gypsum "sand". If you want silver jewelry for cheap, Studio .925 in Mesilla gave me excellent deals because he knows my aunt very well. Gave us 70% off the price if you mention Diana from Montana. I spent $160 in several rings and a necklace. Very humble gentleman that worked his way up from a little table. I've got a quick video of the places we went in my videos.
