I saw an interview with both Rod & George where George told Rod how his mom bought this record for George, which was her way of telling him I know you are gay but I still love you. It's sad because Boy George mom recently passed, and this would have been an incredible moment for her to have witnessed, but I'm sure she was watching from above. Beautiful song.❤
Or idiots throwing phones & giving the singer stitches and a black eye & someone throwing a bracelet! I'm 61 & went to a lot of concerts but went to enjoy the bands! Still have a corkboard full of concert tickets!🎼
If you ever wanted to see a performance of two extraordinary talents who are sincerely enjoying themselves and reveling in the moment, this is it. Thank you to whoever uploaded this. You were witness to a historic evening and duet.
Wow ... anyone notice how far ahead of the times both these boys were....great duet love George anyways as always lots of love from me and New Zealand ❤
I remember a long time ago being with a group of friends and we were discussing what the best concerts were that we had been to and Rod Stewart came up more than a few times.
I do too, but record companies in the '70s were still very skittish about songs or records about gay men. Motown released "I Was Born This Way" by Carl Bean and tracks like "Everybody's Gay in L.A." by The Miracles but these rare recordings did not commercially cross over to the mainstream. They were underground tracks and considered brave releases by those of us who were part of that era. Despite all but living in the '70s gay discos, I rarely got the opportunity to dance to these early era gay themed records but often got to dance to tracks like "In the Bush" ("push push in the bush...lol! remember that one?)
I love George so much!! ❤ I love how Rod shows his affection for George. Always touching him! I’m not use to seeing George sitting down singing on stage. I like it more when he stands as he commands the stage like no one else. Thanks Váy for sharing I love Rod and George together x❤
Thanks for sharing this performance - both were a major part of my teen/young adult life. This is one of my favorite songs from Rod. I love listening to it on my vinyl collection.
Thank you Vay 💚🌻This duet is a historic moment for me. So emotional. I think George won a lot of new hearts with his charm and humor💖, and so did Rod with his personality, too🙂
I watched him dancing backstage while Rod was singing, he was so adorable, like a happy fanboy. On stage absolutely a legend 🥰. Me too, wanna hug him so bad 😅
Absolutely moving, played incessantly when living with my late life partner and our friend Stuart in late '70's London. Hold onto the song's message and keep it in your pocket. God Bless.
I'm 63 and remember this song well. A great song and for me it pointed to the door of tolerance then understanding and finally acceptance of others unlike myself. Brilliant to see these lads together. Love from Aussie Land.
Simplenente maravilloso, dos grandes de la musica juntos, Eso es genial. Mi adorado George adorable como siempre!! 👏👏👏👏😍😍😘😘💞💞💕💕hugs and kisses desde Chile🇨🇱
Thank you so much for sharing, Vay! They have known each other for so many years and finally sang a duet. This is a historic event in music. Sir Rod is an incredibly warm and charming person. They are like two suns on the stage. :)
Rod's still sharp as a tack but you can see he's kinda a little slower these days and sort of going through the motions, maybe he's had enough of singing. Good on him, he doesn't want to end up like Phil Collins half dead on stage, he has other goals, he's bowing out at the right time 👍👍
i Love Rod Steward all my life and this song is one of the most beautiful songs he ever sang ,, man that is saying something with all the masterpeice songs ,,, later in life in the 1980's when Boy George cam on the seen ,, It did cross my mind there was some kind of picture from Rod Stewarts song Georgie boy ,, that brought Boy George to mind ,,, I so Love Rod Stewart ,,,,,and have so much thankfullness for the beauty he has brought to me with his music ,,, God bless him ,,,and Boy George He ant no Rod Stewart ,, but his voice has really developed ,,,He has turned in to a pretty darn good man of music ,,,I Love Pretty Boy his song its beautiful ,, Boy George has soul but Ole Master Rod has got the real stuff going on ,,,always has had ,,, what a voice what a man of music ,,,this was beautiful.
I met Rod Stewart and got his autograph in the fall of 1981 in Manhattan, NYC. It was at a popular place named The Ritz. Rod was at a table with 2 other people to see Tina Turner. She was making her "comeback." It was a series of concerts there. I was a part-time professional photographer at age 21. I got a photographer's and guest pass and attended many of her shows. I hung out backstage with the band and met many musical luminaries like Mick Jagger et al. Since it was an intimate setting, I didn't feel comfortable asking to photograph them. I took 190's of photos of Tina in color and Black& White. One is autographed by her and the band. There were no provions for transportation for the band members. My friend and I drove the guitarist, his guitar, and girlfriend to the famous-but at the time shoddy hotel-The Gramercy Park. They couldn't catch a taxi. Rod was gracious, Mick was standoffish. I was also invited to a rehearsal. Many great memories. P.S. After Rod, seeing Tina's show, he asked her to open for him on his upcoming tour. Of course she did. The rest is history. Peace and love to all.
