While a Rodan did fly over Tokyo briefly, they *actually laid waste to FUKUOKA* - Sorry for the oversight. • The 1st and 2nd Gen Rodans have inconsistent stats. Most of the time, the 1956 Rodans are given the same stats (wingspan/weight) as the Rodan featured in the Showa Godzilla films. Still, sometimes, Rodan's wingspan magicaly grows to 150 meters specifically for _Invasion of Astro-Monster_ in some books, while it is listed as 120m elsewhere. Other sources give him the 150m wingspan straight up.
Haruo Nakajima was no stranger to almost dying while performing in suitimation. His work on the original, 1954 Gojira is legendary for him nearly repeatedly dying through heat exhaustion and suffocation, while wearing a 200+ pound suit of black rubber, with only three tiny holes in the neck to both see and breathe through. The fact that he went on to build a career out of portraying Godzilla and other monsters is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
It's honestly quite amazing that even with how heavy and sometimes dangerous those suits were, the actors still managed to pull off those stunts with them. Nakajima really IS a legend👍
He literally came closer to death working for Toho than he did serving in the Japanese Navy in WWII. And he got shot at in a very flammable aircraft by an advanced US Navy fighter!
Always nice to see some love for the original Rodan, glad to see the tidbit about the ending was mentioned. His movie's title theme is still so chilling, I can't explain why but I become immediately unnerved every time I hear it.
I'm surprised you didn't include in the trivia section that his original Japanese name is actually Radon and that the american release switched the A and O to make it sound less like something radiation related. It became his international name ever since.
I love this series. It always wants me to immediately watch at least one of the movies. I’ve never seen the 1956 “Rodan” and now I really want to! Excellent work.
The ending is so heartbreaking, you feel every second of it in the original Japanese cut The American cut has this intrusive narration that kinda cuts into the moment a bit
Ironically enough, Rodan was initially planned to appear as the antagonist of _Rebirth of Mothra III,_ until Toho cancelled a planned King Ghidorah solo film and worked him into _Rebirth of Mothra III_ instead.
I absolutely love the new video for Showa Rodan. I was wondering if there was trivia interesting behind the scenes and creation of the pterodactyl monster. I also appreciate the notes you forgot to mention in the video about Rodan destroying Fukuoka instead of Tokyo. Other than waiting for the 2019 sequel for Legendary Godzilla, I can’t wait for the second prequel novel “Project MechaGodzilla” to be published in translation by this channel

Idk the almost all the old Kaiju movies have this Jim Hensen-y vibe to them, like they’d fit in perfectly within the Labyrinth/ Dark Crystal Universes. Heck, they’d even work in the original Star Wars!!
Just found new this new channel. Tbh after gojifans empire fell, I thought the yt godzilla community was over so I left the community. After seeing the new Godzilla trailer I got interested in godzilla again and did some yt searching and found this channel. I also learned gojifan returned. The Godzilla community is still alive!!!
Can you tell the Godzilla fans that Godzilla was never meant to be in Ultraman? Because as far as I know the Godzilla suit was used to make the monster Jirass so technically the suit itself is a reference to Godzilla but that doesn't mean he made an appearance in Ultraman.

Every time I see that ending seen and hear the musical score it makes me cry because monster or not, that's a horrible way to die and hard to watch and for the added drama of I will die with you. Yanks the tears right out of you.
I think something that could have possibly been added to the Trivia section would be that at first Rodan uses Godzilla’s roar in Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster. This was a technical issue that wasn’t fixed in time before the final film was released.
I've been waiting four long years and now it's only a matter of time before I see what the MonsterVerse Rodan looks like. He's one of my favorites so I've been looking forward to him the most.
In _Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster_ the prophetess said that Mt. Aso's volcanic gases were going to _resurrect_ Rodan, so it's likely that it was actually one of the Rodans brought back to life.
The Godzilla lore is fuckin awesome, theres something very intriguing about following the kaiju and how its not all about us human beings. Every goddamn movies about us humans today, so its very refreshing to see the kaiju as these living creatures, monsters that are not human, and have been arnd on earth (or in space) way longer than us humans. And they have their own rules and ways inwhich they live.

Tristan Manuel Acuña shin godzilla has amazing practical effects most of the time. Watch that one shot where the huge tail overs the city, it looked damn amazing than any shot in last jedi. Cgi effects in shin godzilla could use more touch ups though
You know there's a beast in JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion that's so large it crushed 3 large mountains when it fell to the ground and was felt throughout the continent and destroyed even the great cities of the Elves and Dwarfs hundreds of miles away were destroyed. A dragon created by Morgoth the Dark Lord was named *Ancalagon the Black* .
I just realized. You do kaiju profiles on showa series kaiju, then move onto heisei kaiju, then millenium to monsterverse. So Showa series kaiju including King Ceaser, Megalon and Ehirah are going to pop up soon.
So after looking it up, only Rodan from the GBA game has the radioactive poison mist attack. That's a shame, I thought at least one other incarnation of him would have it.
