In this classic segment, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper takes matters into his own hands as Billy Red Lyons interviews him ahead of his upcoming match with Salvatore Bellomo at the Maple Leaf Gardens. (Maple Leaf Wrestling, July 28th 1984)
Billy Red Lyons, what a legend. He was wrapping up a 30-year in ring career at this point. He was still actively wrestling up in Canada when this promo would’ve been cut.
Piper should have won the title at the War to settle the score match and turn around and drop the title back to Hogan at Wreslemania. I thought that would have been better than the tag match they had even though that turned out well
The man had a hard, hard life but he ate it up and spit it out...no chip on his shoulder. He was one of the best shooters in professional wrestling and not to mention starred in one of the best John Carpenter movies. RIP
I remember watching this on CHCH when I was 11 years old. Over a decade later, the company I worked for was looking for a new office. One of the places we looked at was the former WWF Canada head office. There were holes in the walls from the wrestlers punching it.
Slaps are usually real. Vince probably pays extra money to the person who receives a slap. A real slap helps Pipers character of being a real villain. Like the one Lord Alford Hayes got on TNT.
Piper liked to talk about never being beaten. Funny he should say that. Everytime he was in danger of losing to his opponent Ace would jump in and stop the three count.
that's a great point. If Piper would've stayed after wm 3 and Savage was still a heel that would've been better than anything Hogan did until Dibiase got there in Late summer 87
