Excellent video: straight to the point: you described all the equipment you were using and tested all three options right there. I've watched other videos that have taken 25+ minutes to get to the point and some of those didn't even get to the point.
For a little while I lost inspiration, but just this week I've started filming again - I'm filming a short documentary and also filming behind the scenes, so there'll be some videos coming up in the early new year 🙂 I'm also going to try and do some more gear reviews as my setup has changed a bit, and there are some new gear additions.
Cheers for that Tamara; I am on Amazon uk now and before I pressed that button to pay for the Rode NG4+ and Blimp I wanted a proper review to satisfy myself that this is cost effective and works. I use the Zoom H5 as the recorder so everything is good and now that button will be pressed. Cheers.
I own the same blimp. I recorded at a windfarm two years ago, and it was strong winds that day. Without the blimp and the deadcat, ...aaaahm, dead-wombat, those recordings would have been broken at all. Heavy stress onto the diaphragm of any condenser mic without such protection. Kind of worst things you can do with sensitive mics. So glad to have one and all fits to what you said in the video.
Great sound! Yes, definitely useful. I had a really windy shoot last week, and I noticed a huge between the deadcat and blimp. I wanted to know if I could solely rely on the ws6 itself, as opposed to the deadcat I have. I see the blimp is definitely the best way to go.
When filmmaking, I only really shoot with the 24-105mm because I don't have time to switch lenses, I'm always on the go because of the nature of the content I shoot.
Hi Tamara! I am purchasing some equipment for work and would really appreciate if you could explain for me how to get this set up working? Like how you get the sound from the Zoom H4n to the camera? I'm a bit confused as to set it all up to work!
Hey! So to sync your audio from the H4n to your camera footage you need to do it in post. I have a video that explains how if you use Premiere Pro, but essentially you'll want to make sure that the audio you record on your camera is loud enough to be audible, but this video will explain ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wjiJogs1JaA.html
For the record to anyone reading the comments, blimps are great but not a magic wand. Positioning the blimp to cut down on external factors like wind is something that takes practice and is more effective than any piece of gear. But also blimps are heavy and so can be a hassle if you're a run and gun shooter. They're the type of thing that tends to get left in the house when you go out because they're just more trouble than they're worth if you're on your own and they also attract a lot of attention so those are things you might want to consider.
@@TamaraGabrielUK There are some videos dealing with the Blimp and the general wind issues online - but your video is outstanding with your love for details and quality. My decision to buy exactly this combination from Røde was easy...after seeing your video.
Hi, just got mine so nice test BUT if you do a new version leave a few seconds without voice/music for each comparison i.e. only wind/noise. Keep up the good work!
Hi, Tamara. I have a question: is the DeadWombat you used in the video the same as the kit or another? And this DeadWombat that Rode sells separately is the same as the kit? en.rode.com/accessories/deadwombat
