+Curtis Judd I love the fact that you can adjust settings on the mike to save work later on. You may may know of other mic's that do the same thing but so far I love it.
GuitarPlanetVideos Thanks for commenting. Yes I will record using the mic in a couple of different ways to show both the benefits and limitations of shotgun mics.
Wish they added an XLR cable and XLR to 3.5mm adapter, that would be so sweet. Nonetheless, this is a great package and great sounding microphone, which shows in post.
Yes that would be fantastic. The main issue of course is that the NTG+ needs 48volts to power it. A 3.5mm jack only have about 2volts. Even so there are some like the Saramonic unit amzn.to/3pzBmWA are a great bridge for a mobile phone.
Nice review, sir. I wish I had seen / heard some samples but still. New sub! Question: I need to improve the quality of my shotgun mic so, which one of the Rode ones would you recommend?
I have seen so many reviews and still think the RODE NTG4+ is good value. Please check out Curtis Judd's comparison videos on shotgun Mic's. i see your making your own videos on Mic's on your channel. You have the channel set up well.
More and more of us are using a smartphone to record videos, you are unable to use a standard adaptor to connect the mic. The iPhone and others need a small tweak to make them switch from the onboard mic to the external mic. I will explore that in a short video soon. Thanks for the interest.
У вас самая лучшая обработка звука, которую я когда-либо слышал в роликах на RU-vid. вкратце расскажите, какие настройки редактора вы используете для обработки звука.
+Diego Marinho The NTG-3 is a more robust mic designed for professional production field recording. It has much better durability than the others. Check out this video from RODE: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-paCT4zdyAQI.html
Hello Gary, I've purchased the mic a while ago, and looking at the 3xlr pins, I noticed one of them is not aligned with the others, it is more in front ... is that normal ?
+Ionut Draghia The pins should be the same length. There is a chance that one of them has been drawn out by the attached lead if it is a bit loose. If it is too loose you need to contact RODE. Try to gently pushing it back into place with a blunt instrument.
+Diego Marinho I have used the mic with an adapter an it works ok but it performs much better with a powered adapter like a Beachtek unit. I am working on a video to show how it works well with a Zoom recorder connected to a DSLR camera. This is the video of the mic being used with an adapter: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g9ObxtZVtYM.html
What is the best quality shotgun mic for doing indoor talking head videos but in a very large space like a warehouse? I keep getting a TON of echo in the mic's I'm using because the space is huge. I don't really have any way of sound dampening the space. Help!? Also I don't mind spending money, I want a pro quality mic. Thanks!
You have a problem that is faced by many people who want to improve their audio. The most important thing is to get the Mic as close as possible to the person talking. A lav Mic is good for this. In most cases booms are used to keep the Mic out of shot but get it in as close as possible. I don’t know the limitations or makeup of your equipment. If you are limited to having a Mic stuck on the top of your camera a Rode VideoMic Pro Plus would be my first choice. Remember this can be boomed with an extension cable to get it closer. If you use shotgun mics like the one in this video you have to add extra equipment between the Mic and the camera to get the best sound and shotgun mics that have a long interference tube at the front and room echos upset their efficiency. Hope this help a little.
