I just found a dealer selling the Procaster at 85€ and the Broadcaster at 215€. Couldn't resist and bought two of each. I love them both. The Broadcaster brings the details and crispness of a condenser but also comes with that very dynamic response which requires a little more discipline. The Procaster is more forgiving and has a very pleasant warmth. While it has less high frequencies in direct comparison, it still doesn't sound muffled or bad. It still manages to understand speech perfectly fine and is less exhausting when listening to longer texts.
Amazing and detailed review on these 3 mics. I own all 3 and currently use the Broadcaster almost 100% of the time. The Podmic is tempting for most because of the value proposition of a $99 mic that isn’t that far off of more expensive ones.
While the broadcaster is designed not to be in a shockmount, there is a shockmount from rode that fits which is the SM2. That's the same shockmount that fits on all the condensor mics Rode released around that same time and still use for their more premium offerings. As for the high price. I agree. It's literally a FET Rode K2 mic flipped to be end address minus all the switches the other mic has.
I feel the Procaster & Broadcaster have a different flavour to offer, the Procaster is darker, kinda warm, smooth and the broadcaster is nicely pleasant, has some brightness but not very overpowering, nice crisp and weighted sound
The comment about the lack of label on the bottom of the Broadcaster actually is evidence of that it is quite a vintage version you have got yourself - that version is the one from the late 90’s / start 00’s where the bottom had a black sticker on it with the name. The new versions being produced today (last ten years’ish) has the branding engraved directly on the mic without the indent space.
