i love what you said about intro babble. Click bait titles and not getting to the info in their titles, live streams are sometimes the worst. Ten minutes fixing a tech problem then greeting a lot of people who are there. It is like get to your topic in your title a lot sooner.
I bought the Rode Procaster nearly 6 years ago for streaming on Twitch and I still love it to this day. It's warmer and more full right out of the box; I listened to a lot of samples and I just don't like how the SMB7 sounds without a lot of sweetening. Highly recommend the Procaster, it's a beautiful mic.
I'm a little ignorant on this topic. As a vocal coach and hopefully as a future content creator I'd like to upgrade from my Samsom Q8, and this Rode Procaster is interesting to me because of its noise cancelling, as my workspace is not treated acoustically and my background tends to be noisy. Would you recommend the Rode Procaster for singing too? If not, should I definitely go for the SM7b or is there a better choice or good alternative? Thanks in advance.
Hey, great video! I just have one question, were you using any preamp like a fetamp or cloudlifter? If not how come there is no noise? And what audio interface were you using? I am thinking about going with the rode procaster to my steinberg ur44 but im not sure if a need a fetamp or cloudlifter as well. If so, which one should i choose? Thanks in advance
No Fetheads or anything. Just using an audio interface. In this case, a Zoom F4(it’s discontinued) but normal interfaces should work for all these mics. But may not for SM7B.
Hi Ken, I’m thinking of purchasing the fx30 with handle and I have a cl1 cloud lifter and Shure sm7b already but I’m not sure if I can use these together if I just turn on the fantom power on the Sony handle to operate the cl1 cloud lifter or what should I do? I want to make sure I can actually use cl1 cloud lifter with the fx30 Sony handle and Shure sm7b or is it not possible?
Yes, absolutely. It should work. But your FX30 should be able to power it. But I would double check. Find the FX manual and see how much db it can produce.
Nice vid. Because I'm cheap, I've really wanted to like the podmic, plus I like the compact, industrial look. In every video I watch, even with all of the differences in people's audio chains, one thing stands out. I detest the sound. Thin and very cheap sounding. For 25 bucks, the XM8500 sounds better, and that's sad. On to the big boys, I like the Procaster and the SM7b equally, depending on use case.
