Ryan from Rode dropped by to show us their ultimate on-camera shotgun, with some amazing new features to get broadcast quality results directly into your DSLR.
Just bought one. Thank you very much for the thorough review and explanation of which each setting does. This was so well done. Thx for helping a noob out.
Great microphones, and instructional video. All my mics are RØDE, and each one does it’s job perfectly. I have used other mics in the past, but have been let down. 10 year warranty and great customer service, so there’s no chance I’m going anywhere else. You get what you pay for, and I can honestly say that these mics are top notch. Very happy customer 😃
Hi Ryan. I'm a music biz photographer, so concert settings are important. You said -10 db setting on mic for concerts. Still keep the GH5 in camera setting around -12 reducing hiss? In other words, if using a DSLR or mirrorless, do we always keep the camera setting below zero. I bought the Pro+ yesterday. Excited.
Hello I just purchased the microphone. I have two questions if I may. 1) is the mic a Stereo microphone? no indication of that. 2) How do I turn of the feature that allow the mic to turn on / off with camera? mine is not. Thank you.
All mics will have echo if theres nothing to absorb the echo, if its not acoustically tuned all mics will have a bit of echo. To remove this add some fabric like furniture or carpet to absorb the echo. And try filmimg at +20db while pointing the mic directly at the talent
hi i buy new one rode vid mic pro plus but i see in your video the light for power is blue and for me is green why and the mic no auto off and on will i turn off the camera i have camera sony 6500
Just got one, But..When charging the supplied rechargeable battery, there is No Blue LED, but only green flashing? Also even while the camera is on, and the mike is on, All the lights on the back go out, even though the battery is full? When powered on with the rechargeable battery, the LED is Green, not Blue? None of this agrees with the instructions?
Hi Steven, I actually had the same issue and send it back immediatly. Got a replacement unit and it worked. As far as I can tell it had to do with the spring inside the battery slot. It kinda broke and got in the way as its probably a less thoughtful design (cheap parts, dunno?) and therefore the meant to be connections couldnt be achieved. The mic itself is great but I hope the battery will last almost forever and I will never ever have to replace it, which may result in another broken spring/connector thingy. Hope this helps.
Seans Tours I have tried the various settings and it will still pick up the hum of my refrigerator (where I do a lot of my recording since my channel is diet based). It even will pick up the sound of central air if I record in my bedroom. It’s super sensitive. It’s a great mic though. I even use it as a book mic sometimes.
Seans Tours the closer to the subject, the better the sound quality. If the subject is like 3+ feet away from it, it is going to pick up more background sounds.
