hey mate, the ducking on channel 1 is so that if your guests are talking, and the ducking is turned on then the HOST (Mic 1) will always come through louder if he starts talking.
The RodeCaster Pro Firmware 2.0 firmware update incorporates a superb new feature. You can set the monitor output to cut out when the mics are open so you now don't have to worry about feedback.
Nice review. I concur, it has been a great rig to record conference podcast interviews, especially using the audiotechnica BPHS-1 headsets, which are ideal for noisier environments. Question: Would it be worthwhile getting some extra clean gain by using a cloudlifter between a Shure SM7B and the Rodecaster? I'm thinking another 25 dB or so sure wouldn't hurt. Thoughts?
For a 7B, absolutely. That’s the only mic I have trouble getting clean gain with. A client of ours has a 4ch Cloudlifter with 4 7B’s and it sounds fantastic
Based on RODE's videos you can't use the USB for use with Skype. They recommend you connect to the Rode Podcast PRO via Bluetooth. Are you saying that SKYPE works through the mixer if SKYPE is loaded on your computer? They state that is not possible. Thanks in advance.
Correct; I’ve used this with Zoom and SquadCast, and those apps receive audio from the entire RODECaster board, not just channel 1. I don’t use Skype tho, so I haven’t tested that
@@thepodcastmasters the video from RODE says use Skype via bluetooth into the RODE as they say the USB is not designed to work as an output, only an input. Now I am confused...LOL
I have a new Rodecaster Pro. What is the input on the back in the upper left corner. It looks like a small lock with a "K" on the lock? I can't find any info on this.
@@thepodcastmasters Though you can use a RODE NT USB by powering its usb locally (in my case via my laptop) and using the 3.5mm output to either a 3.5 to xlr or pop it directly in to the 3.5mm input with this set up I am able to use a mix from the laptop and run skype, viber etc along with voip calls (I use bicom Systems) in addition you can still use the Rodecasters BT for another phone input.
Hi there, I know you did this video in 2019 and I hope you still using it-but I have a question to you?!? Is it me or I’m doing something wrong. After recording on the Rode Caster Pro I transfer the audio to my MacBook Pro and play it to iTune and the sound seems to be a lower quality or the volume seems to be much lower. It’s not as vibrant in the headphone like I hear in the Rode Caster Pro..I would love some help please..Ps. I am not sure if you have experienced that
Just did a new video on this - you are probably hearing the raw recordings with no processing. While when you listen through the RODECaster that processing is active. Double check your multitrack settings
Podcast Masters ok thank you, your videos are excellent. Can you do a short video on how you actually Livestream? Like what cables are used and what service is good? Just an idea.
Have to disagree here. If there’s too much noise then likely the mic you’ve chosen needs a preamp. I use this with the SM58 or the BPHS headsets and have had no issues whatsoever
