Good old Roden....it's a shame that the 'extras' they include in their models is flash! Great start on the Fokker.... the internal rigging looked complicated but you seemed to do it so easily, very skilfully done. Great idea attaching the bottom of the seatbelts to the chair first.....another clever idea into the vault for future use. Bring on Part 2 :)

Thanks, the part 2, will be soon, I have some issues with lozenge decals (why I'm not surprised...)

I am currently building the 1/72 kit from Roden, the lozenge decals disintegrated when I tried to apply them, not sure I would buy a 1/32 kit from the same maker and expect the decals to work... regardless, excellent start, looking forward to the next video
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels 2 года назад
ohhh, that decal problem... I have no problems so far with this kit, but Roden is famous for a poor decal quality. I recommend you to check decals from the kit very carefully, under different angles, and if they have a lot of cracks - just use aftermarket ones. Also, it's always good to cover your Roden decals with a gloss coat and use them after, but in this case you will need to cut them precisely by their edges

A nice beginning Oleg. I wish I had half your skill with an airbrush! I like that you started the video with a brief history. If would not have the patience to do that panel stitching, but sure admire what you did. The lozenge decals worked nicely I think. This is going to be another great build.. but you know.. the pilot is still missing... 😉

Can you tell me the name and the code of the oil paint used in the cockpit? Great Job.
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels 2 года назад
Thank you Paolo, I used a very old oil paint, that I bought more than 15 years ago, the name of a brand is Nevskaya Palitra - it's a ruzzian paint (shame on me), but you can use any other brand, as long as it's an oil paint. The colors I usually use are: raw umber, burnt umber, yellow ochre, Indian red, the color depends on the wood effect you want to have. Try to practice and you can paint it as well, good luck

it's some kind of all purpose super glue - Krazy glue (the spelling is correct lol ). I bought in the Canadian Dollarstore

@@FlyingCircusModels Hi Oleg, many thanks for your reply. Can Ii take the opportunity to ask a few questions about the decaling as I have never done lozenge decals before. Firstly it seems from the video that you put the decals on to the bare plastic with Microsol and no primer. Is that correct ? Secondly it looks like you have applied the upper surface wing decal before the lower surface. Is that correct? Lastly how do you locate the strut placement holes once they are covered over by a decal. Many Thanks
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels Год назад
Sure, William, I'm happy to help with answers. 1. Perhaps i lost it in the video, but the model was covered with the grey Primer - Mr.Surfacer 1000, after I used a wet 600 grid sandpaper, then MicroSol and decals. 2. It doesn't matter which surface to do first, upper or lower, so you can start from either side. 3. After using Set/Sol solution decals will repeat the plastic surface, so you will see holes for struts and plastic ribs. Hope this will help

@@FlyingCircusModels Many Thanks Oleg, it looks like this biplane has rigging only on the undercarriage and the lines to the tail control surfaces like the DV11,which is good
@FlyingCircusModels
@FlyingCircusModels Год назад
@@williamhillocks7518 no problem, at all. Yes, late Fokkers had very little amount of rigging, that's why hey are preferred planes if you just starting to build WW1 models

Once again a really excellent work! One note for a future, further improvement I have nevertheless. The shoulder straps were most likely not attached to the back of the seat, but to the upper cross tube behind the seat. As long as you can't see that on the model, the simplification is still ok, of course. I'm looking forward to the next part.
@FlyingCircusModels

Thanks, from my knowledge they were in a "home defense" and the vast majority were just shot down and the rest captured after the war. No surprise, with only 60 produced
