Scales embodies a 9layer that may not have an abundance of natural talent, but his plaudits come from his work rate and hard work he puts in to his performances. Liam Scales shows what you can achieve with hard work and belief! Well done Liam Bhoy! 🍀🍀🍀
Engels = what an excellent purchase!! He's going to really raise the level of the first-team starters & really bolster the attack/the midfield & the defence, whih his overall game a joy to watch. Big Liam was brilliant, as was every other man in the Hoops last night. Maeda & Kuhn tearing down those wings was exceptional. Maeda has a V-8 engine, and then some - what a special player! Fair chuffed is putting it mildly... all the very best to the supporters @ Paradise last night, *and* Hamish (John & Stevie) for their excellent analysis - a happy auld man in Japan x HH!!
Congrats to Celtic from Bratislava, the fans and the players were great and you guys did everything right. Again Congrats! But don’t get too carried away. We, Bratislava, aren’t necessarily the best team out there. See how you do against Premier League or La Liga teams 😊. I wish Celtic came to play at Bratislava like the old format it would be a whole different game. Good Luck going ahead
Nobody thought scales was a bomb scare, they just wanted a better player for Europe but he's stepped it up so good luck to trusty if scales keeps it up
He has had man of the match performances in Europe for us before and I’ve lost count of the people I’ve heard saying he’s ok but we need better for Europe. It is an accusation that gets levelled at mainly Scottish or Irish players though the years. Nothing new but I’ve never understood that mentality and people forget we conquered Europe with a team of homegrown players. You don’t need to have an exotic name to be a great player at the top level.
You guys are right about the fans in the stadium. We were frustrated that we went in at HT only 1-0 up but I was impressed by the team’s patience and said to my son “we’ve got this, it’s coming.” I think it was a mature performance in the first half and a swashbuckling one in the second. Sterner tests to come but a truly magical night and wonderful atmosphere for my son’s first CL game. It was a privilege to be there.
Liam Scales is learning on the job at a big club. It's not easy to do that. We should stick with him through his bad periods. He could become a captain and stalwart of celtic for years to come. Keep the faith with him. HH
So much more a unit than any team Ange put out. Brendan deserves so much credit for how he's got the team playing. The board have also done a great job and backing him. I hope they are looking to get him signed on a longer contract. The longer the contract Rogers is on the better it's going to be for the overall running of the club.
The pressing triggers were much more intelligent than Ange's singular high press that allowed us to get picked off and concede silly goals in transition regularly.
Agree Rodgers deserves credit as does the players as does the board as well as the fans who didn't break into a panic stricken frenzy over the perceived lack of signings and trusted the board to deliver.
The dream team!🍀👍😂😂 The noise and atmosphere was brilliant!👌 Scales is doing a Starfelt! Started off a bombscare ,now you’re not worried about him at all!
Nice lads, we were very good all over the pitch a bit scrappy at times over playing but a win at least was expected with the quality of Bratislava and Weiss enjoyed that game im sure 😛... no illusion tho some pretty tough games ahead as long as we compete I'm happy and it was good to see Idah score a classy goal.
I believe Engels will prove to be a amazing signing . What I can’t understand is why another Germany team looked to recruit him . Well Brendan and the recruitment team
Hate when we win games and comments are full of "werent that good". They were good and showedbit in spells. Weve slipped up against worse in the past. Need to make teams look poor and thats what happened. Pressing and concentration. Bits of quality when needed from Hatate and Kuhn. One of the best movement strikers in the CL in Kyogo.
In fairness - Neil Lennon on TNT sport didn’t understand how Johnston got booked even though he clearly sent the guy into the air, if you missed it they didn’t replay it often.
Im probably late to the party but I'm turning a corner on Scales ( I was a big doubter) but it's been over a season, we have seen more than enough to say it isn't a purple patch. It seems like this is now the level he is it. We can win leagues, beat Rangers regularly and compete in Europe with Scales in the team. Crazy to imagine a year ago.
As soon as Engels starts scoring from open play then we have an absolute baller. He is constantly moving, never stands still and he has some engine to get back and win the ball and drive us forward.
Good to see Enda again after a wee while. He was on his best behaviour too. I fully expected him to talk about Liam Scales for 5 minutes while flicking Vs and GIRUYs at the camera to all the Scales haters out there😂
One of the reasons Scales is so derided is that he is easily put off balance which would be a major problem for most but for Scales it's a purely optics thing as he routinely wins duals even off balance. He doesn't dominate the individual dual, but he so often comes out with the ball that he does dominate the dual over 90 minutes. But why is this of such value at a high level? Surely it's basic? You'd think so, but many players will only challenge when they know they are in a dominant position. They don't want to be embarrassed in front of 60,000 people. Nawrocki would be a great example of that. Scales, might not have the same athletic or technical ability of Nawrocki - but he is willing to put everything on the line in every moment and he is absolutely superb at competing even when not fully balanced or 'dominant'. Even if you are still wary of his limitations, surely any fan with any understanding of football can now see exactly what Rodgers sees in him? And I don't see any player taking his shirt.
The biggest problem has been his distribution, dwelling on the ball and not playing forward quick enough, but he seems to be getting better with that. A bigger worry was CCV looking out of sorts, hopefully he isnt carrying an injury.
dont be fooled by the Brugge Dortmund score, was never a 3 nil game, Brugge could have been 3 up before Dortmund scored. They are a million miles from Slovan Bratislava. Skov Olsen, Vanaken, Veltesen who tore us apart with Bodo a few years ago. Winnable game for sure but far tougher test than last night against the worst team in the competition.
Stan Sport coverage was pish, up there with Celtic tv , did enjoy the 500 replays of scales goal at halftime though. Watch the highlights show for a laugh Hamish, Bosnich is aff his nut 😂
I've heard a few ones talk about this money per goal but I can't see it mentioned anywhere in the articles breaking down prize money. Anyone know if it's true and have a source I could read?
All the podcasts I seen pre-match said it was going to be close. Do none of you believe in this team? My prediction was 4-0 and thought we would be top of the league after day 1. Didn't predict BM scoring 9.
