The "History of Battleship" series we were working on was due part 3 -- Lord Horatio Nelson at Trafalgar -- when Ukraine sank Russia's Black Sea Flagship. We detoured to important things Russia forgot in their Invasion of Ukraine: Stalingrad, Przemysl, and Babyn Yar. When we wanted to resume the series... another event... a leak of Roe v. Wade's potential reversal.
Many on both sides are emotional. We chose to create a middle-of-the-road look at this difficult issue. It's important and many should understand both sides so they can choose.
Is Abortion another Holocaust? We go back to Babyn Yar's horror and explain how it was possible as Nazis decided Jews, Roma, and Slavs were subhuman. Aborting whatever is growing is then -- to some -- allowable as it is not human... at least not yet.
Others believe that life begins at the instant of conception, and thus the small and defenseless innocent is not guilty -- even in cases of Rape or Incest.
We also ask does it matter if whatever is growing is capable of life outside the womb?
It is a painful, difficult subject. We have tried not to take sides, and hope that this short look is useful.
