awesome video of an actual real world user! you have a really good voice and manner of speaking for this. i'm honestly surprised that you don't have more subs. keep doing what you're doing!
Good review ! Since you asked for advice : - saying « bye » at the end of your video or « thanks for watching see you in another video » (for instance) - when playing while comparing 2 console, you could split the screen in 2 (left/right) so we can clearly see and appreciate differences 🙂. - when pointing out differences you could show us your test. Ex : when you talk about the sound you could have let us hear it in a game so we could hear it Ps : sorry English is not my mother tongue I hope you could understand my advice to you.☀️ Good luck 🍀
Yeah its a two for one, you get a great review and some nice scenario, and I'm from another country so I've never seen that scenario before. Also with regards to OLED on the screen, it would bump up the price even more but the battery life would get even better.
I cant wait for your videos to grow more, so underrrated man. youre the reason why i got into hand held gaming!!! I dont do it at the moment due to Valve support being the worst . but still love to support
Actually if steam company was bad with customers steam will be like unknown today unlike asus and lenovo being so rude with customers in X when they talked to him and this why I used SD oled over lenovo go because I still remembered when they fooled people with gaming phones updates, and asus with one plus said just 2 year's android Os update unlike Samsung gives 7y old for updates even with galaxy (A) so why I should think asus was changed just because they made other steam deck and I cam imagine why ally fans don't like when asus 3 models in 1y unlike steam deck was 2022-2027 and oled was actually steam deck lcd just a pro vr , fact ally x is ally 2 even if it was a pro vr but why in very close to the older models?? I am sure everyone know there's ally oled coming maybe tomorrow or after month and the price of car price same when Ayaneo and onexplayer made thrie devices so cheap just 1000-2000$ XD 😆 maybe they will a gaming car 🚗 with oled screen in the front, yeah steam deck not the strongest but still the best choice same as Nintendo switch was actually weak for ps5 and Xbox but switch still used in more people like a good device.
I find a lack of videos like this in youtube. Firstly its somehow cool looking at you just being out in the nature talking about these things. Secondly, huge thanks for going through every other device and honestly comparing one characteristic after another. I find it too time consuming to watch reviews just talking about one device when I'm comparing them before buying. Thanks
Regarding some feedback, I lacked an outro a bit but I liked that there's no big intro like others do. I'm more than ok to just have you saying "hi, it's me, check out what I have here"
really enjoyed the review man. I'm at the point where I'm doubting I'll learn anything new from watching multiple reviews on the same product, but I loved your performance analogy regarding driving a car at high revs and how it's a less enjoyable experience regarding handheld gaming. Also, you highlighting the importance of immersing yourself in a game and how that's a huge factor in handheld gaming regarding battery life and such. It was very refreshing to see these points addressed in a tech review, keep up the great work
I'm an old gamer. My cousins and me had the original Atari 2600 the Xmas it came out. And as an old guy, handheld gaming is great because we've got competing family demands but can snatch a few minutes here and there easier with a handheld (Incidentally, thank you for the Bazzite dual boot video -- linux greatly helps for little snippets of game time with the amazing pause-and-resume). Anyways I followed your advice and now use a ROG Ally X where I swapped in a 4 TB SSD and 1TB microSD and dual boot Windows (Game Pass Ultimate afterall), and Bazzite. This is the Mercedes-Benz of handheld gaming. This old guy would like to say thanks for your videos, your tone and your vibe is perfect.
As you might know I switched from an Legion Go to the Steam Deck because of your honest reviews. I find it refreshing that you are not in the bubble of MOST and MORE. You are really doing a great job here helping to make a good decision what to buy or not, depending of the use cases that of course differs for everybody. Well done, AGAIN!
I played MHW on performance mode for 2 hours, my battery went down from 73% to 43% with average 58 fps. The crazy thing is the ally x is not hot at all. Even at the two exhaust fans, it is only warm. The body never got hot unlike my SD oled and GPD win mini. Asus did a very good job in heat management on the ally x.
Well done you will be very soon at above 150k subs. Plan out your ideas and videos as that will be the only thing which could hold you back. I wish you countinue this way!
WOW Awesome review bro, filming outside is a great move very creative. I been watching alot of other handheld reviews and you are the best, I appreciate your hard work and your honest opinions, well done!!
You asked what you can do to make the channel better - and I would say nothing. Love your style of content. Just please stay consistent and keep making gaming handheld content!
You’re doing great bro just keep doing you! I just got the ally x which is my first handheld gaming console and to be honest your channel was one of the main things that had me feeling like I needed one. Super happy with the purchase.
I'm testing both the SD OLED and Ally X right now to see which to keep. I'm leaning SD OLED. The Ally X has great build quality and is a solid device (although the SD OLED is more comfortable ergonomically). Dealing with Windows isn't terrible but it's not as seamless and enjoyable as SteamOS. I'm seeing about 10-20% more FPS on the Ally X in some titles than the SD, but usually it's like when the SD is pushing 90-100FPS in TW3 and the Ally X is getting 110-120, so it's good either way. The thing that's doing it for me is the screen, but mostly the screen size. The Ally X is nice and sharp at 1080p, but the screen feels really small compared to the larger 16:10 screen on the SD. When you're jumping back and forth, it really makes the Ally X feel small, almost too small. The SD OLED is that little bit larger and more immersive, and I think more enjoyable overall to play on.
@@JMYChannel After testing both, I returned the Ally X and kept the SD OLED. The SD is more comfortable to use all around and it feels like the more complete handheld. The higher resolution of the Ally X is nice but the larger OLED screen of the SD is nicer. Windows on a handheld is still clunky and, just like the original Ally, it was buggy switching between Desktop Mode and Console mode, and navigating Windows with a joystick is tedious after a while. Native Steam OS on the SD is a better gaming and console-like experience and I really don't have a desire to go through the hassle of installing Bazzite on the Ally X. I do think it would solve some of the software-side bugs of Windows, but there was more than just software that had me reaching for the SD far more than the Ally X.
I bought an LCD steam deck 256gb last week. Mint condition. Brilliant for indies. Took delivery of my Rog Ally X today. Loving it too. Obviously the whole initial setup being windows based is a pain, but once you're up and running just wow. I'm seriously considering selling my 3070 mobile gaming laptop.
i would use the ally X only with bazzite... windows is a pain without touch pads... i dont care about cod or something l ike this i have a big pc for competive games
Thank you so much for this video. I needed the perspective form a normal user that focus on the little things. I want to buy the Ally X and was looking for something like this. As feedback: if you want to improve, I'm not an expert, but you already have some b roll footage on your videos. Perhaps just a bit of low volume background music that changes every few scenes. Besides that, I'd say it would be also good if you had a script so your voice comes out more fluidly. Other than those things, I really likes your video.
Dope Garth shirt, good review. I think i want a legion with more oled and more ram since you can remove the controllers but that battery and the ram needs update. Subbed and liked the vid. Ally seems cool.
Love the video my guy, you always seem chill. Keep up the good work, been watching for a few months and i already see the increase in production value.
Create vid, man. Very real and honest. I hope you can keep it like that. I was between an OLED deck or this and it helps reframing that the portability will be great to play my indie games and SOMETIMES some AA. With some work I can also have other services on my Deck, so I can use my epic account if I really want to. Congrats again and keep keeping it real
5:28 other people have run across similar issues. It turns out to be a buggy audio driver. Deleting the driver store and installing the drivers fresh fix it. I imagine they'll also fix it in a update. As for feedback, for improvements, you need to remove filler words like "uhm". I enjoy your content and I do seek it out and watch it, just something worth mentioning.
Man like the way I’m watching this video (and I’m not a subscriber, this is my first time I’ve come across your channel) you’re already doing too many “right” things. Video is clear, concise and straight to the point. The visual stimulus is also very nice, I liked looking at the beautiful scenery combined with the product in question. For improvement, I can suggest doing the same thing but with a better camera… like more cinematography maybe? More film-like experience but it’s not really necessary, you’re doing everything right.
I have the Steam Deck, ROG Ally and now I have the ROG Ally X and now I can play games that the previous Ally don’t. Is a game changer. Thanks for let me feel good because I got the ROG Ally X!
Just picked mine up, figured I’d pick it up, test it for a week and POSSIBLY return and see what black Friday deals there are. But if I find myself not using it too much, I’ll get the Steam deck OLED like you recommended. Great review, I subscribed!
Bro your review feels so authentic unlike others reviews which feels somewhat fake, stick to this style as it's unique and very relatable to us as audience 👍
I'd like to see you walk through the desert next time you do a video. I think it would be interesting to see how you interact with your environment. I'm sure you'd find some interesting things to show us, and I'm sure you'd find a few things to comment on as well.
Brother your videos are amazing. Its not just the quality of videos and editing that makes it amazing. Its the depth, passion and care with which you explain that makes your videos so special. Loads of ❤ from India. Keep on growing. *Also subscribed.
Wow amazing video. Very relaxing in nature. Makes me wanna go out with my (hopefully future) Ally X and just be outside while gaming somewhere under a tree :D
Hey Cyber! I would love a video along the lines of "How I get the most out of my Ally X" im relatively new to pc stuff, i love my ally, but im sure theres things i could be doing better!
Great review man. Like the vibe of your vids. And agree about the systems. I have the OLED Deck and the 1st Gen Ally. Both are amazing but I only play the Ally if I'm near a charger because the battery just isn't practical enough. But with frame gen it runs Hogwarts at 40-90 fps at 900p and looks amazing lol. OLED Steamdeck is just the smoothest easiest experience. For a busy dad it's my go to but most people will be happy with either device.
Man.. I have an LCD Steam Deck and love it, but the temptation to pick one of these bad boys (or the "old" ROG ally) is extremely tempting. Also, just discovered your channel and you're doing great
hows the build quality? i see lots of ppl just brushing over it is it solid? does it creak? does it feel sturdy enough to use all buttons with no worry they will get stuck?
Been watching a couple of your videos because I'm currently trying to figure which PC handheld to get and I heard you ask for feedback in all of them :) From my perspective as a maybe less intense gamer (I play a couple of heavy duty games here and there, but nothing competitive, so I'm more focused on ergonomics, battery life, and good graphics), I'll back everyone else in the comments who also said that what sets you apart is definitely that you think about the products you review from the regular user's perspective and not a tech fanboy's perspective. Most people wanna know how it will perform when they take it to spend the weekend at a friend's house or on public transportation during long drives, not at your house with the device plugged to your TV. Your content is more approachable and relatable in that regard and I really like your real world application examples. Would definitely keep that up. For feedback, I will say your stuff is genuinely really solid, so this is really gonna be very nitpicky stuff... But maybe presentation of information? A little less filler words like "um" or "like" and less silent pauses. It's very small stuff, but it does help make you sound more confident and knowledgeable about what you're saying, which I can already tell you are. Just a manner of conveying that properly.(I have the same problem, so no dig here, it's such an easy habit to slip into lol) Next one would be something another commenter brought up: more side by side comparisons. As someone who loves to compare graphics quality, your side by side comparisons of the steam deck OLED screen vs. the Ally X and Legion Go ones was one of the most useful parts of the video. A lot of people are very visual beings and having it side by side like this really helps to see the difference real time. Other than that, this is all great stuff :) Just stay consistent and cover things people are interested in and you'll do great! Earned a subscribe from me
Great review with nice environment. I'm excited that the ROG Ally X is so great! It means when Valve release the Steam Deck version 2, it will match or surpass it!
The Ally X makes me want an SD2 even more. All the SD needs is higher performance and game compatibility. If I can just dual boot it with windows for a few games, dude I’ll be so set.
Awesome review man keep up the great work. I’m selling my Oled deck and getting the rog ally x. From my experience the ally has better speakers than the Oled deck and the fans are much quieter on the ally than the steam deck. Excited to have all my games in one place again.
Just had my rog ally z1 extreme refunded because of it killing 2 sd cards and I paid the difference and upgraded glad to see I didn't waste my money upgrading for the battery alone as I fly alot for work thanks for the update on what to look forward to
Thank you very much for this honest review! I absolutely appreciate it. Stay as you are, your sincere nature is what makes you authentic. I'm always torn about a device like the ROG Ally X. Precisely because I can get a Gaming Notebook with at least an AMD Ryzen 5 and an RTX 4060 with at least 6 GB VRAM and 16 GB RAM for the same money, which is insane! But I probably think that way because I'm not the target group for handheld gaming. Games like Octopath Traveller or Ni No Kuni are a real splendor on the Steam Deck OLED and the Steam Deck enables an experience like on a console. WHEN Windows 11 - then for ME: Laptop or stationary PC with all its advantages and also disadvantages. So personally I'm sticking with the Steam Deck OLED, which is also attractive because of its price.
Hey dude! Thanks for your quality content really! I really don't know which one to take between the Legion (GO) or the ROG (Ally X) . I play mainly with AAAs which of the two would you advise me? Thanks again to you
would you reccomend the upgrade to this from an LCD steam deck? I'm itching for my next upgrade but cant decide between legion go, oled deck or rog ally x....fairly casual gamer but I would want the next handheld to be able to handle a bit more of a range than the standard lcd deck :)
There's a lot of improvements with the ROG Ally X. Really tempted to get one. I just wish it came in white like the original Ally. It's a much more aesthetically pleasing color and looks better with the RGB lights IMO.
It's not about liking Windows or not. Because the huge majority only knows Windows on a PC. It's about the handheld experience of Windows, which is quite bad compared to the experience of Steam OS. And about if you want to play games with launchers and anti-cheat. And EA games, as they are incompatible with any other OS than Windows.
I do not have any portable atm, but the impressions I get is that the ally x will give you a portable pc gaming experience which means you will need to treat it more like you would a pc and the steam deck is a pc console experience. Little things like turning off your device for 10 mins to go for a smoke will work with steam deck but you should just keep the ally x on while to take your break. You should also exit the game you are in if you are done playing as opposed to suspending it like you would on console
Love your vids and wanted to offer up my two cents as a low impulse control tech junkie lol.I have the SD OLED, Ally X, and Legion Go and I honestly feel the Legion Go screen is a bit over rated. It looks nice but if you're trying to play more recent games on it you're stuck at 800p and it loses all of it's appeal at anything closer than arms length. It works well on a table with the controller detached but at that rate you could consider a laptop. The Ally has the smallest display, but it's 1080p and VRR gives it the boost to make 1080p work well. You can hold it 6 inches from your face and it looks SHARP. I'd love for it to have a 7.5 inch display but I think there is a such thing as TOO BIG for a HANDHELD device. Legion Go is more PORTABLE than HANDHELD.
