fyi without frame gen it hits like 30 fps.... and you should not be using frame gen with 30 fps it just feels like shit amd even said its supposed to be used at a minimum 60 fps

@firstblessings8777 22 дня назад
Why would you activate frame gen when you already have 60fps?

You would think by now a manufacturer would’ve made something so powerful with 120hz VRR display that it’s the clear handheld king even for a premium price. Every device has drawbacks somewhere in power or display tech. I thought the Win Max 2 2024 would be that crazy device but they went and released it with a 60hz non vrr ips panel. Fail.

I mean you wouldn't be talking shit if these devices were connected to an eGPU thru occulink

@@JorCal-ev8fq I have a Z1E. I’m just saying I’d spend for $2k for a high performance handheld with a better chipset all in one. I don’t want to buy peripherals for a mobile device. Defeats the purpose of it being a handheld.

@@Energydrinc you'll likely have to wait 2-3 generations further down the line for AMD handhelds chipsetwise. In the meantime I'm enjoying black myth wukong on my AM4 5800x3d build with an 7900 xtx card I plan to skip AM5 for AM6 potentially around 2027-2028(literally squeezing my build atm)

@@JorCal-ev8fq I think the Ally 2 might be what I’m looking for. Asus is still leading the pack imo. Z1E and Ally X still best bang for your buck with high performance and amazing 120hz VRR display.

@@Energydrinc yer always gonna be waiting for the next best thing no matter what. I factor in other things before I buy stuff. Like I'm replacing my OS for bazzite , Linux, for my ally X. The screen staying at a nice 120hz and at 1080p, a proper dpad, I heard the og ally has a crappy dpad that Asus fixed with the X edition, and then theres the use of non recessed hall effect joysticks. The battery being twice that of my win mini is also a huge plus. I might not even boot my operating system through the pcie 4.0 M2 slot. Instead I might simply use a nice portable external M2 drive and plug that to my thunderbolt 4 port and use my internal pcie 4.0 slot to route a diy occulink port

Which one would be better to use just for connecting to a bigger monitor and a tight space for playing online first person shooter games mostly? Do i need a eGPU to do that? Do both both brands sell everything i need to make this setup happen?
@BarelyAverageDude
@BarelyAverageDude 9 дней назад
1. They can both connect to an external monitor with a single cable, but the ally is better if you have a dock because most docks are made for that shape of device. 2. You don’t need an eGPU to connect to an external monitor, it will just improve your performance. 3. GPD sells an eGPU, and ASUS sells portable monitors but not both from each. Do you have a controller or planning to use the built in controller?

@@BarelyAverageDude wow thanks for the quick reply! I rarely get a answer on RU-vid when I leave a comment. Well I’m a truck driver and I’m trying to find the best way to play PC multiplayer games in my truck! Laptop got too hot used too much power, desktop takes up too much space! Just learned about handheld two days ago so this is all new to me and possibly the way to go? I play mainly Hell Let Loose I need a mouse and headset to talk to the team and a big enough screen to see the map, and of course the enemies :) when driving a tank and playing spotter I need to look around 360° and fast so I think a mouse is best for that? I do not know I have not found the solution to playing comfortably in my truck yet!!! I guess I should use a dock but I don’t know nothing about them yet. And from my little bit of research I think the steam deck might be good for what I’m looking for?
@BarelyAverageDude
@BarelyAverageDude 9 дней назад
@@skinz1234steam deck is a good affordable option, but it is much less powerful and doesn’t even have the option to connect to an eGPU if you ever want to in the future. I think the Ally X could be a suitable option for you based on what you’ve said so far. Do you have any budget limitations?
