Well, the day has come where old RoG is finally putting the '56 Thunderbird up for sale. Here is the history of the car that he has had in his possession for around 40 years.
Good old 312 w/solid lifters--you can hear them, yeah! Fordomatic back then was really a 3-speed, there was an intermediate gear. Same powertrain in a '56 Fairlane, Country Squire, whatever model you had. Mainly I had the Country Squire. Thunderbirds '55-'56 used the station wagon rear axle (Spicer). If this had overdrive, it would've had a 4:10 ratio. This one is maybe a 3:56 ratio.
Nice Video, But my Schooling was watching my Grandfather & Father Rebuild Engine. My 56 Thunderbird has a 312 and my 66 Thunderbird Conv has a 390. Everything is original on my Cars to include the original oil Bathing system in my 56. Again they tan PERFECT when they left Dearborn and still can run just as good. the BEST part on my 56 and 66 Is just turn the key and they start to include points. The teapot carbs are FANTASTIC. & The Autolite 4100 on my 66 Is FANTASTIC No DEAD spots at all.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I'll be sure to relay this to my father! I've got more videos of him building a small block Windsor on this channel if you're interested.
