Roger Federer joins the ESPN Tennis desk to talk about his win over Daniil Medvedev at the 2019 Miami Open to advance to the quarterfinals, if he’ll win another Grand Slam in his career, how much longer he’ll continue to play before retirement, how his body has held up over time as he continues to play without pain killers, his love of the game, the road to 100 titles, why he enjoys playing matches outside of Grand Slams and if he can pass Jimmy Connors’ 109 career titles.

Obviously he's probably talking peds to keep playing. Tsitsipas is 20 years and he's exhausted. He's playing three tournaments in a row and he's not even showing signs of fatigue and sweat. He's enjoying power and he has the privilege to negotiate his scheduling. They help him, to give him easier draws to reach finals when Djokovic and Nadal are absent. He wins ONLY when Djokovic and Nadal are absent. As for the Grand Slams, he can't win anymore. His Grand Slam journey is over. Djokovic and Nadal are laughing now. Djokovic won the last three Grand Slams. He will keep going to win surpass the 20 Grand Slams next year!!
@katerinapatiniotis5598
@katerinapatiniotis5598 5 лет назад
Dana M And probably peds. His daddy works in the pharmaceutical industry and he's probably has access to the best peds...I doubt if they ever test him. Playing three tournaments in a row and he's not even showing signs of fatigue and sweat. That's suspicious to me. Tsitsipas is 20 years old and he's exhausted and sweating like a pig.
@katerinapatiniotis5598
@katerinapatiniotis5598 5 лет назад
Erşan Kuneri You're delusional. Thinking that Chokerer wins fair.....reaching three tournaments in a row every weak, and he's not even fatigued, and nearly 40 years old. They helping him win to get attention. The real deal is the Grand Slams...and Djokovic will be laughing.

Well in Chris's defense, I also always cry when Roger wins a grand slam tournament... It's tears of joy, like I had for Senna (RIP) and for my closest family and friends. It is reserved for special people that touched me trough out my life and as I get older I appreciate them more and more. I just feel that when Roger stops playing watching tennis will die for me as F1 did when we lost Senna... and just thinking about that brings tears in my eyes...

I do not believe in 1 GOAT, but this guy is truly one of a kind and so much of what he does is a notch or several above the rest. For one his graceful and forceful style is the most beautiful I have ever witnessed and I have been watching tennis for about 40 years. His charisma is also something that cannot be imitated. He really is loved all over the world and grownups, successful people, people from all backgrounds seems to be excited like little children when they get to meet him and be around him. And, finally the way he treats fans, reporters, volunteers, etc. Always kind and patient, like someone who never forgot where he came from.

In absolute terms his record is phenomenal. My favorite player due to his elegance and creativity. Not conclusively the best in my opinion however. Controversial I know but hear me out. Losing record against both Nadal and Djokovic. His record in grand slam finals against those two is particularly poor (Won 4 Lost 9). He won 9 of his 20 slams pre-2007 before all the others turned 20; beating opponents like Philippoussis, Hewitt and ageing Agassi. His longevity is commendable but no coincidence that recent 3 slams have happened when Nadal, Djokovic in decline. I think if Federer was the same age as Nadal and Djokovic I think we'd be talking about an all time great player but not one with 20 slams.

Man, it's so wild to talk about him like he's old and about to die. He's only 37, which is still VERY young, but in terms of tennis, he's ancient. It's wild to think about.

People have different opinions on who is the GOAT which is reasonable if you focus on on-court only, however if you consider off-court behaviors into account, there's no doubt Roger is the real GOAT for the game of tennis.

Stop asking him about his retirement ffs! Avoid that evil and heartbreaking topic as long as possible and maybe we can forget about it for another couple of years! Sheesh!
