RIP Sinead - I am born in Berlin - living with the Wall between East and West Berlin over 30 Years - and I was at this Concert at Potsdamer Platz . And hope for a new world - we are One. And now - War in Europe - and Sinead is dead. I am shocked - just another sad day in these times .... now one perfect voice singing for God !
...be happy that God has blessed you with such emotions... this song is my Psalm, by text but also melodic line.... do you realize how happy we are to be contemporaries with Pink Floyd?
Roger Waters probably wasn't thinking of Sinead O Connor when he wrote this song, but it hit the spot with her. They apparently didn't hit it off during the show, and Waters said a few things which he probably now regrets, but he will never get a more honest heartfelt interpretation of his song. RIP SINEAD O CONNOR.
Man , it's so SO bittersweet finding all of these clips of her performing , now that she's gone, and seeing all this love for her now that she's gone, and wondering if she had any idea of how her voice, her words, her bravery, touched so many.. heartbreaking ❣️❣️❣️ You were a teacher of strength , courage, and yet , humanity, vulnerability.. I hope your beautiful soul is at peace, Sinead..
Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb Mother do you think they'll like the song Mother do you think they'll try to break my balls Ooooh aah, Mother should I build a wall Mother should I run for president Mother should I trust the government Mother will they put me in the firing line Ooooh aah, is it just a waste of time Hush now baby don't you cry Mama's gonna make all of your Nightmares come true Mama's gonna put all of her fears into you Mama's gonna keep you right here Under her wing She won't let you fly but she might let you sing Mama will keep baby cosy and warm Ooooh Babe Ooooh Babe Ooooh Babe Of course Mama's gonna help build the wall Mother do think she's good enough for me Mother do think she's dangerous to me Mother will she tear your little boy apart Oooh aah, mother will she break my heart Hush now baby, baby don't you cry Mama's gonna check out all your girl friends for you Mama won't let anyone dirty get through Mama's gonna wait up till you come in Mama will always find out where You've been Mamma's gonna keep baby healthy and clean Ooooh Babe Ooooh Babe Ooooh Babe You'll always be a baby to me Mother, did it need to be so high
Her innocence is disarming...and she had to go through heart wrenching experiences because of her vulnerability and transparency of being human and angelic at the same time in a world hostage to the juggernaut of power and greed. A heart full of love and reverence for you, and your awareness that you really were a living 'Witness to Truthfulness'.❤
I was there, 300.000 people at Potsdamer Platz. After the helicopter flew over the area, everyone was covered in dust. So many artists all singing the Pink Floyd songs. Best concert ever.
I grew up with this live and this song always excited me. Seeing Sinead singing in front of this huge audience with his fragility, emotions, humility, her smile and her perfect voice, made in my mind the example of the real artist.....rest in peace Sinead, the most beautiful voice in the universe!
Who is here for Sinead? Such a brave soul. May your voice and heart live on forever. Great song....Sinead you were right! I hope you had some comfort in knowing you were always right...
The way Roger smiles at her as she does his brilliant work such justice! Just a beautiful thing to see. The whole performance and the players involved is a truly epic tribute to the power of music and collaboration.
i never saw this before now. Ya RIP Sinead what a beautiful voice . Then i noticed Garth Hudson then Rick and Levon. Big fan of the band. Sorry we are losing all these talents. i wonder how they came together here
Sinead losing her mother when she was young made this even more poiniant for her to sing this masterpiece of a song with her voice from the heavens RIP Sinead gone but will never be forgotten 💥💫
Never heard this version before...just Beautiful...Beautiful Sinead ❤ & this version! Fan of Pink Floyd 44 years and saw them live in my 20s...just awesome💝🌠🌈🌠
Sublime. Surely the pinnacle of what music is about. Poignant, lyrical and majestically sung by Sinead and played by the others. The squeeze box guy adds another dmension to something already full of wonder. What brilliance. I can't stop listening to this and only discovered it this summer of 2023. Where have I been all my life?
Big Thanks to Roger Waters to pull this of...one of the few musicians nowadays standing his ground in regards to everything that is going wrong on this planet...some might not like him, but he really is a true hero! Keep going Roger!
incredibly moving moment. this is perhaps Sinead at her finest. RIP. Maybe Roger's also. Such a beautiful song. No doubt the best version of it I've heard. Being able to listen to songs like these, to witness performances like these is the only thing that has made my life worth living. Art......, it is everything to me.
makes no sense to have a woman sing this song though. It's about pink's personal experience growing up and about him singing it. No hate towards her I just think it was kinda pointless for them to do this.
I was there after I and two friends caught the ferry to Ostend and drove all the way to Berlin, we were allowed to camp in the Tiergarten, a fantastic concert and a look around the city the next day.
I don't care who's in the room, nor matter the point in time, I cannot keep a dry eye listening to this music. There's just no way. Even though my mother is still alive, it's still a very emotional impact song for me. I think of my dad a lot who has passed on now for almost 9 years. Thank God for the song. And no! I absolutely do not trust my government. Not anymore
I listened to this song obsessively as a 12 year old. Hearing Sinead sing it was like nothing I’ve ever heard in this world. I’m sorry, my precious Angel, I’m sorry that you couldn’t stay. I’m sorry the world was cruel beyond imagining. Be free now. Forever loved.
Love you ever..sinead, you are always in my heart ❤...thank you for All your amazing and greatfull Songs ....its a great Song with pink floyd ..thank you ❤❤❤..and 🎉sleep well sweet😢😢😢
one of the greatest song writers of all times got one of the greatest voices to do one of his masterpieces! Respect! So happy i was part of it back then!
Amazing work of art beautifully done by legends. Rest in peace our beloved Sinead. You have gone to a better place. You will never be forgotten, you will live in our hearts forever.
I am gone see Roger Waters together with my son in Antwerp on the 14.5..23. The Wall. I was 25 in 1990. Just married. Now i am 58. Roger is almost 80. Unbelievable. Greetings Dirk Belgium.
That, sweet, shy, almost embarrassed smile @ 0:44 is how I will remember Sinead. People have commented on how brave she was and they're right. She called out the abuse by the Catholic Church a long time before the scandals started coming to light. Inside, I think she was still that abused little girl at heart.
This was a rehearsal unfortunately there was a power cut during the live performance so they added this into the performance overwise we wouldnt have got this great version
My mum was there and brought me back rocks from the wall. I wish the past in every country could be forgotten now and we put our every moment into our kids now.
There's a LOT of talent on that stage. Some aren't with us anymore but the gifts they left me with I'm forever grateful. Godspeed Garth, Levon, Sinead. Forgive my ignorance if I left someone out.
She sure as hell did. Her intense vocal delivery, facial expressions, it's obvious she was totally emotionally into the music. Roger Waters had good reason to smile at her.
Sinead O'Connor singing Mother, her beautiful singing here pierce through my armour like nothing shred my hart, it all made sense when I learned about her troubled past with an abusive mother. RIP Sinead.
From the first few words, this song became hers. I can think of no other performer so powerful and yet so fragile. I’m almost offended when the chorus comes and others sing along with her.
This compilation sounds and looks perfect at the original live concert many things went very wrong. F.i. Sinead forgot the lyrics of the song (Roger had to whisper them into her ear) furthermore there was a powerdrop which made parts of the PA system fail..... So for all sake's they had to redo this song from scratch during the gig. This footage is mainly shot during the full dress rehearsal from the night before the actual concert.... I know because i was there back then on the 'real' night ;)
The only Floyd that was there was Roger Waters. It was a bit of a controversy at the time. They put a big pair of balls on the giant pig to differentiate it from the Floyd pig
