I love Snowy White! He looks like he has just turned up for the gig, got off the bus having slept late, but FUCK can he play! Just AWESOME! He is one seriously cool unpretentious human...
Snowy White is, yes one of the greatest guitarists ever but I just watched a YT vid of him after SELLING his guitar, no BS, he sold that guitar in the vid, look it up! I cried loudly! HOW!!!
Absolute amazing from Snowy White and Doyle Bramhall 2, simply this is one of the best solos of comfortably numb. Snowy White's feel, tone is out of the world. The sound he creates from the les paul is truly amazing and his phrasing is just mindblowing.
I often come back to this version of Comfortably Numb, sure David did the solo best if you want it to sound like the album, but these two did something else, and it's fantastic!
Dainese Aldo.
👍 I’m familiar with all these guys on their own, however for Snowy’s more laid back blues style, which is how I recently discovered his music. But THIS combo and song’s performance is something I hadn’t expected to be so great ❤! The song it’s itself, hearing only the instrumentals w/ no vocals, and really just focusing on the guitar’s 🎸sound (while watching them play) is what grabbed me. I was completely surprised when the video started, and then when it ended I had to continue watching it on repeat - all the while wishing it lasted MUCH longer! Now my search will begin to find more videos from this same group of musicians and the concert.
The concert this was from is called “In the Flesh” and is on YT (from 2001, I think). PF from various album is presented in a well produced show. There’s also a 7 minute or so version of this “Comfortably Numb” Really passionate guitar: one is piercing clear and other is crying with reverb
@@shirleymuhleisen683 Thank you for your reply and info on the link for it. I’m going to look for it on YT, and I’m sure it’s going to be just as good as this one!
I’m not a guitarist, but I was a classically trained pianist and organist since I was 5 (I’m now almost 70), and it’s the same for ALL musicians! If they don’t love ❤️ what they do, they’re never going to be good, let alone 🌟 great! (I always liked ALL genres of music - back then - and now even more so now that I’ve gotten older, and I already said in a separate comment, this is just beautiful!!)
This gig sounds out of this world, as a whole, in great part thanks to James Guthrie, the great sound engineer, but to me the very pinnacle of it is when Doyle plays the solo of Time. No one has ever come close.
Gotta say, , , , never seen Snowy in his street clothes before, , , looks fuckin’ hard - and plays to match- and great covering by Doyle , , , , , Great Stuff 👍
If it wasn't for the genius and management of Waters; Gilmore would never be Gilmore. Most of Gilmore's solo albums are undervalued. Roger Waters also made the Amused to Death album with the late Jeff Beck, whose solos are unique.
Saw the 99 tour....half full arena in Oberhausen and loads didn't come back after the break! The Wall was brilliant but was very much a tribute band with RW doing very little apart from stomping about the stage and miming! ....... which is has continued to do since on his newer shows!
