Their music has remained relevant and powerful. It's one of those things in which the total equals more than the sum of its individual parts (players).
@@kurtsudheim825 I would argue that The Wall is even more politically relevant today than it was when it was written in 1979. Same thing with their 1977 Animals album.
My 9 year old son found my copy (dvd) , and keeps bugging to watch it. I told him when its just him and I at home, we will watch it because that's a movie we need to crank up on the sound system!
Rogers Waters has aged as gracefully as his majestic Pink Floyd songs have. I have listened to these songs countless times over and they hold up to a timeless standard.
I am 18 and discovered Pink Floyd’s music a few years ago. Even though I am young, I am so glad that I was able to connect with the music while Roger Waters is still alive and performing!
I also discovered Floyd in my teens - a long time ago, but still well after they had stopped performing together - and it has always been with me. I'm happy to hear that it still resonates.
I just turned 19, my father introduced me to Pink Floyd when i was 13, by putting on the division Bell cd, putting on Poles apart and skipping to the solo, since that day i have listened to Pink Floyd almost every day. They are the greatest, Ever. I went to a roger waters concert in 2018 and damn, when the factory shown in the album cover came down during the ‘’Animals’’ sequence of the show. Idk man you just had to be there. Greatest experience of my life.
@@eliassther4819 That’s awesome! It’s amazing how music made decades before we were born can still have such a strong impact on us. I keep counting down the days until I get to see Roger live. Only 12 days left!
@@thinkmakingsciencesimple2561 Yes, it’s just amazing. I hope you have a good show, try not to film and just emrace yourself within the music, Roger and his band are totally incredible. Enjoy man!!!
Dave Kilminster is one of the best known secrets in the business. I played a set with him in Chelmsford in 2009, and he'd already been in Roger's band for a decade by then.. It was actually a jazz band, no singer, just jamming. Dave has got some amazing jazz chops, too. He was playing rhythm brilliantly.
@@LoyalOpposition well of course, i mean the man jams with some of the most renowned guitarists and artists in the prog music scene, Guthrie Govan, Steven Wilson
I saw Roger twice in my hometown Brisbane Australia. First with Doyle Bramhall iii and then with Dave Kilminster. DB was more theatrical (and sang Dave's vocals) but DK was also an awesome guitarist.
It always mesmerizes me how 4 young lads in their 20s were able to capture, master and represent such a deep understanding of life, death, politics, society. We need this in music and arts in general today more than ever.
Absolutely, I was considering the whole career and the whole band…Meddle, DSM, but you’re absolutely right, it was more late twenties than earlier when the more introspective albums came out. Thank you!
@@icypick1001 young person: The Pink Floyd was a force of Nature by 1967. you are lucky: go get the tiny box sets. start PRE dark side - hopefully syd barrett days ..
@@davebertoletti you sound Obscured By Clouds / La vallée. i actually saw the movie.. bought the album when it came out - and they opened their show with that. 1972 / 73 ?
I went to one of Roger 's The Wall shows years ago, and it was so good I drove 6 hours the next day to see it again on its next stop. 12 hour round trip was absolutely worth it. Just these 6 minutes this morning has made my day, and it's only 8am.
God I really wish I could have seen one of those shows. Then again, at the time, I was 8 (at the end of the tour) and I had no idea what a Floyd was or which one was Pink.
@@LoyalOpposition I know! I'm going to see the upcoming This is Not a Drill Tour. Just wish I could have seen the dedicated tour for The Wall. It seemed so extravagant!
Front row center stage at his Tampa show in 2017. He came down and shook everyone's hand. It was so cool. It was an incredible show. My husband had just come from the show in New Orleans. He calls from the road and asks me if I'd like to see Rog in Tampa and if I could be packed and ready by the time he got home. He'd booked a room at the Hard Rock and gotten us front row seats. It was really sweet because I had never been to a concert before so it was special.
Hello there, I find it really odd writing to you because I don't usually chat with fans but After reading your comment on my fan page, I realized how much you like and follow my page. Thanks for your support and positive vibes .
Dear Roger, I love Pink Floyd. Your music is so good for tripping. Don't stop til you drop. Keep on keeping on. By the way, I'm 74 yo. Time does not alter, etc.
The Wall is a double album with only two good songs on it, you could whittle it down to a single, maybe an EP if you're really pushing it. It's almost entirely filler.
@@scottdelong1 lol, loads of people dislike the Wall, get over it. The other members of Pink Floyd besides Roger Waters don't even like it. It's got a sinister energy to it, just as Roger Waters himself is a dark type of person, he's been compared to Stalin by his band mate. I think the Wall is overrated, sure The Final Cut is even worse.
Note also the amazing Dave Kilminster. Among Britain's finest guitarist musicians. I am fortunate to have seen him twice on Steven Wilson tours and once with Roger Waters.
: I went to say thanks for all the warm comments and likes...oh well since I go too many massages over at my blue print account so I decided to isolate myself here and reach at to few of my fans without you I wouldn't have been here today kisses 💋 to your lovely heart
Dave Kilminster's first tour I think.. He's been with Roger for over 23 yrs. Excellent guitarist. I saw him in a small club in Chelmsford when I was traveling, and there were no more than 15 people in the club, jazz improv, no singer.. I got to sit in on drums. Maybe I'll upload it onto my channel.
5 rows from the stage Little Caesars arena, Detroit Michigan. I believe it's the 5th show on this is not a drill. 4th time seeing him for me. Absolutely love it
Pink Floyd's album The Wall was a reflection on fascism and the loss of independent thought and where it leads. Good for Stephen to bring Roger on - it's a message we need to be reminded of, especially these days.
The whole arrangement was impressive. In the beginning I wondered if it really was live. They must have worked hard to get that sound of the originals so close. The actual performance made it clear though. Hat off!
After 45 years of concerts and Pink Floyd 3 times, it is ABOUT TIME latenight put on some classic music!! Even if Roger did break up the band, he wrote everything!!!
I saw Roger Waters & his amazing band, perform “Roger Waters - The Wall LIVE!” at Manchester Arena, Vector Arena (In New Zealand, my home), both were Indoor Venues & I also saw him perform the same concert at Wembley Stadium, to 70,000 people. All concerts were extraordinary & the stage production was mind boggling & the sound quality, perfect. I would expect nothing less from Roger Waters! 😎👍🇳🇿👻
Roger Waters puts on the best show I have ever seen. My friends and I even traveled a handful of hours to see him in far away places a few times. Words won't do it justice. It's not just a concert - it's an experience. I also felt a strong emotional connection with Roger Waters every time I saw him.
He wasn't the singer for Pink Floyd, nor did he have a big impact on their musical sound. Even the cover art of DSOTM had nothing to do with him. He was literally just a crummy bass player who Pink Floyd replaced 40 years ago. He sounds awful, stop hallucinating on lsd when you go and you will quickly realize. 😢
Saw Roger perform The Wall Live in Yankee Stadium a few years back. That was very special. Have tickets to see him at MSG later this summer. A creative genius.
I can't fault Roger when it comes to singing the lyrics of "Another Brick In The Wall" that includes all three parts as on the album, he does it so well, however on other Floyd songs David does a grand job as well.
He's playing single notes, tonics of the chords. Hardly 'playing.' You'd think he'd be able to play the chords. I don't know if it's not a prop. He probably can't play the bass and sing this at the same time.
@@PreacherAtArrakeen he's dubbing the bass part, on Us+Them he play the acoustic guitar on several songs, even on Welcome to the machine plays electric. Maybe, he just can't play the bass anymore (he is almost 80 now) and it's fine, he's a Human after all. I meet Waters once, and, was amazing.
Mine, too, and I was born in the 80s! I can't listen to music made in my lifetime. Movies, too.. Just not good enough. I'm listening to Yoshiko Sai, another unknown in the US, but all her 70s albums are on RU-vid..
Egads, that took me back! I saw "The Wall" in concert on Long Island so long ago. I'd been to many other Bands' concerts before, but never experienced anything like The Wall. That was truly an EXPERIENCE. The movie was great, but, really, you had to be there.... 😲🤩😊💯
This is incredible! I may not be from that time back in the day but Everytime I hear some damn good music like this doesn't matter Pink Floyd all the way to Zeppelin it makes me so happy 😊
@@TheMonroemomma I think note for note he was on point with the solo but David has a subtle smoothness to his playing that guy doesn't have. I can't put into words what the difference is but its there
He looks wonderful sounds wonderful I love David I love Roger I love them all and I'm gonna be there in Pittsburgh July 6th I'm in tears right now this is what I need thank u thank u thank u
Oh dear, didn't anyone tell Mr Colbert not to shake Roger's hand? Music was epic as always. Seeing this tour in July. I'm guessing it might be his last tour ever? Wouldn't miss it for _anything_ ...... his band lineup is just amazing. I've had Pink Floyd for 50 years and I'm so greatful, more now than ever. We are truly staring into the abyss....... and it's staring back!
@@Vermoulian what I don’t get is why he sang all it all it’s just another brick in the wall height pitched ??? He tries to sang the same pitch as the girls
@@jismism9515 Then you really missed it.. Roger said, "There is no 'Us vs. Them' - we're all in it together.. It's satire" - but like millions, some are too lazy to learn before typing.
@@LoyalOpposition Gotcha & understood; But as a 'satirical' comment, u missed my point as well - Touche. RW is one of THEE greatest lyricists of all time, but honestly - some of his political meanderings are total BS / ie: Why is he TELLING bands to not play Israel? (etc etc)
Same in my opinion Roger provided the roughness for the hard rock sound of Pink Floyd but David Gilmour’s softness made it the perfect blend of sound for Pink Floyd until Roger left
He's the most vile and racist celebrity on television. Antisemitism should have brought down his career decades ago, but it appears that there are a lot of Hitler youths who still pay to see this old nazi.
If you want the Pink Floyd LYRICS delivered like that, yes. But David and Rick were far more responsible for the overall sound of the songs than Roger was. And I prefer the music that David and Rick made to the lyrics that Roger wrote.
Damn it’s so hard to not crave more after just one song. Can’t wait to see the new tour. The most magical rock concert out there this year. Don’t miss out folks, this man isn’t going to do this forever❤️🙏🏼

I so want to see this live! What courage in this music. He's my kind of guy. And I totally agree with his feelings about the horrific war in Ukraine. Biden is a fool to fuel the flames of war.
i'm super jealous haha, i was born in 2006, so unfortunately i couldn't see any pink floyd concerts since rick wright died in 2008. so i'm going to do my best to go to the roger waters tour !!
One day this will cease to be in our media....and only be in disproportionate history. I'm grateful to be here during this time. So many great directions in artistry.
For those wondering if they should try to attend one of his shows,..... his last two tours have had the best, BEST sound quality I've ever heard in my many years of show production and doing sound myself. Always a great show!
I was FLOORED when i heard the firsts seconds of “Breathe” on the last tour, sincerely i have never experienced anything similar to the sound quality that Roger brings to his concerts.
aint it ? the pros and cons of hitchiking he had a holophonic system and there were speakers EVERYWHERE in the venue . in brain dammage top hats laughing was flying around in circles in the rafters ... the end of welcome to the machine the elevator sound was really something and it raised up and shot thru the roof . it was about a foot thick and it was oscillating liek a chorus , you could really feel it . i was tripping but ... it was real .
Check out his latest album “Is this the life we really want” - very well written and retro/new sound. He played 4 songs on his last tour in ‘18 just after it came out)
It's so great to see the legendary Jon Carin up there on keys and vocals. He's an epic member of Pink Floyd, David Gilmour and Roger Waters solo bands.
I had the honor of being asked to prepare my BCNY students for a number of Roger’s live performances when he’d come to NY for the Wall segments around 15 years ago. Seeing those kids faces as they hit the stage of Madison Sq Garden was a moment I’ll never forget. Thanks Roger! Keep rockin’! ✊🏾
I like the fact that he's got the left-handed drummer on this tour...very different to see. I liked his work on the Lockdown Sessions and the "Wait For Her" video as well...KEEP ROCKIN', Roger and gang!!
You go to New York, and wait in line at Ed Sullivan to hopefully get tickets for the show. You are supremely lucky, and get a spot in the audience for the show. You're sitting there, enjoying not just the show, but the feeling of something going your way for once. Then, Roger fucking Waters comes out and plays perhaps the most iconic, prophetic, rock trilogy of all time. I probably would have cried from the overwhelming confluence of spectacular coincidences required for this to occur.
