This video brought so much nostalgia from Cata to me. Many of these new abilities or passives were later removed and never brought back, like Combat Readiness, Recuperate and Revealing Strike. I remember leveling my first rogue back in Cata and having a blast, trying out all specs and finding these interesting abilities that I later found out weren't in the game before. Cata hype! Can't wait for the druid video.
Been watching your youtube guides for some time now, just wanted to say thanks and grats, the videos are great, no BS, great info, straight to the point, and well structured!
Im glad to be early to this vid, been looking forward to Cata class update vids from you. Cataclysm for me is peak WoW and my favorite iteration of WoW tbh. Looking forward to Hunter changes the most. (Always main Hunter/Warrior, even tho I play all classes atleast some.) Seeing I know getting rid of ammo, making ranged weapons your main hand ect are big changes for Hunters, and would love to see which ones I forgot.
regarding revealing strike, you can use it whenever to get the debuff for the next finisher, it wont matter if you use it to get your 5th combopoint or your first. its only gonna be consumed by finishers, not by builders.
@@mindblown42069 From what I remember, very well. Cata was when Blizz stepped away from the idea that hybrid classes had to be weaker DPS (and it was never the case anyway once people figured things out). Boomie in Cata is stronk. But its all about whether you like the new Eclipse mechanic. They changed it every expansion, sometimes for the better and sometimes the worse depending on the player. Cata's version is quite popular, so hopefully you'll enjoy it.
@@andromidiusnice, thanks for the sneak preview. I’m pretty happy with how my boomie performs in wotlk. Sure I get a little out scaled by fire mages, and aff locks on longer fights in the execution phase, but otherwise I largely keep up with most classes. Only downside is when you don’t get an eclipse proc and you’re waiting for a crit, very frustrating.
I was a rogue enjoyer throughout cata. Several things here that I straight up forgot or remembered differently. I thought revealing strike wasn’t consumed on the finisher, maybe that was MoP
Also, I thought Cata was when the ranged slot was removed for Rogues/Warriors. I guess that was MoP then? And that poisons started working more like Shaman imbues and that you didn't have to actually hold them in your bags. I'm starting to think that 90% of what I think are "Cata memories" are actually "MoP/WoD memories". I may play Cata after all since it'll apparently be a whole new xpac to me, lol.
Yo Scott! Good job with the video, i like it a lot. Here is my opinion as a long time Cataclysm P-server enjoyer. Ive played almost all classes in PvE and PvP Enviroment in the past 10 years on Cataclysm. Here is what i think about rogue. Of course its based on P-server experience and im looking forward for blizz changes. Combat rogue is one of the easiest melee class to learn and performing very well, especially in multitarget encounters where you can cleave enemies with Blade Flurry (Warmaster Blackhor a.k.a. Battle ship is rogue TOP dps) and perform decently in single target. Assasination Rogues are getting better in later contet - Dragon soul But are extremly good in AOE situations thanks to their poisons spread with Fan of knives. Subtlety Rogues are PVP master BUT! They are extremly good in single target fights BUT! They are also the hardest melee in the game. Me personaly played Subtlety rogue only in Firelands and only in one encounter (Majordomo, thanks to lowered CD on Cloak of Shadow subtlety can keep the BONUS dmg buff UP all time all by itself) But ive seen some subtlety rogues in other encounters too but as I said, extremly hard to manage slice and dice / dots and so on... And yes! U have your Legendary Daggers in last phase so the Combat rogue will be extreeeeemly insane op goood with them in PvE
3:20 It's crazy how they made this interesting change to thrown weapon damage in cata, only to completely remove secondary weapons from the game the next expansion.
Dual spec but it only 10g to buy it. Also they gutted all the bloat from talent trees. Also hybrid specs go away because you have to use 31 points in a talent trees before you can on another tree (31 is most talent points)
Wow, I do NOT remember the Blade Flurry change and I mained a Rogue from OG Vanilla through WoD! I may have primarily played Assassination during Cata, not sure. But wow, that's awesome.
FoK change is so bad imo. I read the blue post they made back in the day and even with how bad people were back then called it a nerf, which it is. The devs made a comment saying "I see a lot of comments calling this a nerf, but we didnt talk about the numbers to its just a flavor change so the ability can truly be "fan of KNIVES". Actually braindead change. Keep in mind now rogues can apply 2-3 poison effects on any targets in a radius around them(if they have a talent point in deadly brew they can have mind-numbing, wound, and crippling apply at once). This limits us to one poison effect and the increased 140% weapon damage isnt nearly enough add on top of the fact they change FoK glyph so you dont get the 20% extra damage. Should really get a buff for classic.
FOK is strong in assa, the spread dot thing is no joke they can do insane amounts of damage but yea thats just for assa, also Combat is ok with bladefurry
Ya this posion on thrown is so dope think about having this on heroic LK 0% prog and anub lol fuck man if you had 2 rouges in your group as long as both arent picked up noone would have to slow besides them
I didn't play Cata and have not read anything, but surely you would just use revealing strike if you are on 3 combo points or 4 regardless (depending on glyph procs). The only thing you would lose on doing it on 3 combo points is a potential 1 combo point proc from your glyph of sinister strike.
can you make a video about warrior in cata ? i mean arms is really good and is a pve spec now but fury ??? just played private whitemane cata server and hundreds of players told when i asked that fury is trash in cata and it doesnt work.
Early cata rogue was bonkers. I know you only explained the pve perspective but in terms of pvp, sub rogue in early cata is CRAZY strong, especially for 1vs1 or even 1vs2. People might think that recuperate is meh but trust me, recuperate is INSANE. There is no other spec in the game that can selfheal as reliably as a rogue withh recuperate. Adding to that your extensive survivability options, you can be the king of 1vs1. In terms of pve, most rogue specs are top performers in dps in the majority of raids but the only problem is that DPS is the only thing you bring. If you're hoping of pushing 10m hc content, there's sadly not a lot of spots for you. Ideal 10m hc group is BDK+Feral for tanks, Holypala+druid or priest, War, ele, lock, hunter, ret pala and there's only one left for sp/boomie/mage/rogue/UHdk. You need the other dps specs for their buffs and utility (also, their dps is nothing to laugh at) and rogue don't bring anything to the table except their dmg but their dmg is not high enough to justify bringing more than one of them.
Unless numbers are going to be changed or something, ass rogue in greens can outdps most geared classes in dungeons, i remember actively using shit gear going into HC's fav one was Deadmines. People flaming me before the dungeon even starts about my shit gear. Than dog walking them all over in DPS.
after having spent an amazing time in wrath as a double slow weapon armor pen capped pvp combat rogue(leftover room was crammed into haste) cata absolutely destroyed combat pvp.
Ok Scotte, I'm coming from fullcat, powershift happy, trollsblood debacle survivor, to Rogue in Cata, so I need to know; is rogue as much fun as feral? 😅
We dont know yet if they keep the rogue just like the same in cata or they change the class. We have no information about anything. The only information we have is that they might change the talent-tree. But how the class will be played and how the gearing-system will be changed we still have no information.... So this is just pure prediction...
Changes will likely to be smaller, balance and bug fixes for the most part. Though small changes can have a massive knock on effect - so we'll have to wait and see.
