I really enjoyed this film. Very fun and entertaining. The gritty attention to detail, the costumes, the new planetary settings and cinematography, all helped immerse the viewer and give a fine sense of the epic scope - something Force Awakens never really managed to achieve, in my opinion. At the end you wanted to cry because you saw just how much the Rebellion had to sacrifice just for a little bit of data, which made that ending all the more chilling to watch.
My thoughts exactly. The plot made sense as well, unlike Force Awakens where plenty of actions from the characters lacked logic. The whole "Star Wars" atmosphere is way more present as well... Better than TFA on every level actually.
I got actually bored during episode 7 at multiple times. The fact that no characters seemed to be really engaged in the plot took me out of it as well. In RO, every character wants to go further, to push their boundaries even if that means death, and to me, that felt very "Star Wars". I felt the same emotions that I felt during the battle of Endor. You actually felt danger for the characters all the time and that is a great deal to me. Rogue One was everything I imagined as a kid and it feels good to be back home. Force Awakens never managed to take me back just there even for a minute, it felt like a parody. Rogue One is real Star Wars to me.
***** i think that the characters in rogue one are the ones that are not engaged in the plot at all..maybe its just you but if this makes you feel star wars then i guess it is what it is
@@gkay8889 not engaged in the plot?!?! The whole plot revolves around the actions of the main characters. You just want to hate on this movie for no logical reason
in TFA most Resistance weapon and ships were in the system that the starkiller base wipe. So yeah they lost their whole fleet and have to destroy starkiller with only handful of X-wing and Y-wing In here although they look better equip but you can consider it to be obsolete compare to episode VI, the rebel flagship can't do shit despite it massive size lol
The director had no other choice. Because not a word is said about these characters in ep IV (because they were non existent back then), so the only real solution is to slaughter them all in Rogue 1 :)
Thank you Gareth Edwards for delivering such an amazing movie, and thank you uploader for this video. RIP Carrie Fisher. You are one with the Force Now.
Superior film in every way. I cried happily to see it then screamed hooray at the end. Phenomenal job director Gareth Edwards and story by Gary Whitta.
"But if you're too respectful of it that you dare not do anything new or different or take a risk, then what are you bringing to the table?" Take that, SWVII.
I didn't act like it's dog shit, I just said it's not nearly as good as IV or V. It's still enjoyable though. Also you talk about film making and say Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One are on par? You may like them equally but the cinematography in rogue one is far superior.
Screw that, I am treating The Force Awakens like Dog shit because that's exactly what is was. It was literally a rehash version of A New Hope. The film was hardly enjoyable. Yeah sure it had a few good moments but nothing phenomenal or breath taking to redeem this movie. The characters were just there, Rey was so good at everything she's practically the Mary Sue of Star Wars, Finn who was a sanitation Stormtrooper who was able to hold his own against Kylo Ren. The Force Awakens was un-original and had the sense of emptiness. The movie didn't do or improve on anything. Rouge One is recognised by many fans and critics as being on par with Empire Strikes Back. Did your retarded comment really just say: "If i want to watch a war movie, I'll see Saving Private Ryan. Hmm what if i were to tell you Star Wars has the word 'Wars' in it, implying Wars take place. Rogue One literally puts the War in the Star Wars. It's Dark, Gritty, Adventurous, Action Packed, Has outstanding cinematography and action sequences, doesn't follow cliche love stories, filled with easter eggs, Great CGI (especially bringing back Grand Moff Tarkin) and so much more. This movie captures what a real Star Wars movie should be. Also when you get the approval and praise from the creator of Star Wars aka George Lucas on Rogue One it means a lot, especially since he disliked The Force Awakens. but that's just an added bonus.
Rogue One is not a war movie anyway, it's for the most part an adventure movie. It doesn't have much more war in it than other star wars movies. It has plenty of funny moments too. So your point doesn't really make sense...
weird? what am i then, insane? when i heard your father would be proud for the first time at home after I've seen the movie i cried for solid 5 minutes mate
I keep seeing Jyn running with the plans and it kills me every time that they re-shot it, but it was still such an astounding ending so I don't know how to feel
Same, I'm so curious how the film would have turned out and how different it would have been. Obviously the final ending they went with was amazing and I trust that they made the right choice creatively to give us the best possible film, but I'd still like to know how the story was planned to end originally...
A much more experienced actress, now 33, though she looks ten years younger - widely praised for her role as Stephen Hawking's wife in "The Theory of Everything" - and, boy, seriously attractive...!!
This is the best Star wars movie since The return of the Jedi, the last hour of the movie is pure gold and the ending was incredibly familiar and jaw dropping at the same time. Movie of the year for me. The force awakes was kinda boring to be honest.
Rogue one was fucking boring, force awakens got shit done. The characterisation was shocking in this film, we learned hardly anything from them. Darth Vader was also shite too, except the last sequence of him.
Tam Koeberle it wasnt boring...and we also didnt need to learn anything from the characters unless we going to see them in other movies..this film had the purpose of showing the sacrifice that some must make in order for the good guys to win..i liked it alot by my cinema experience in the force awakens was a bit better (for obvious reasons of course :D)
This movie was Great! Well Done Cast and Crew! Got a Standing ovation at my local theater in rural West Virginia. THAT is how you know a movie is great! It was a great experience and well received! Can't wait for next December for Episode 8!
Yes, toothy... but what a great face... it works - and she should never lose those two front teeth, which she's doubtless aware of... And she moves so well too, in this film....
The Brits essentially INVENTED modern theater, which directly translates into movie making. They've been doing it for centuries, which is why they are so good at it. Plus, as noted in the middle clip, there are very few "prima donnas" generally (although some recently have become infected with the Hollywood Disease), which is why you get Sean Connery doing toothpaste commercials... because he's an actor, and that's his job, so he acts. Same thing goes for the crew members as well.
MrJest2 I worked in England on a show back in 2011 (editor) and loved it. Especially the professionalism in the actors/crew. Prop makers etc. They were equally respectful of Canadians which I think was just a courtesy. ;)
there are plenty of memorable scenes. Vader in the pod, Yens as kicking of troopers, the injured rebel being shot in the back by the hero of the film, the deaths and Vaders end scene are extremely memorable. Episode 7 had "Traitor" and Solo's death. The rest is forgettable
Gareth has the right attitude towards directing a star wars film . He has a genuine child like enthusiasm for the franchise but also the maturity to understand the responsibility and the need for bringing something new to the table whilst being respectful of the legacy of the saga. He s also very modest and likable which is quite rare in this business. Hopefully , he will be directing more films.
That's actually pretty funny to know; BTW: I had heard there is a 'formula' to create your own 'Star Wars' name: Don't remember exactly but it's part of your last name, part of the street you live on and part of a few other things...
I don't know what it is, but something about all of these clips are so powerful, and emotional. When they all talk about feeling like a kid again on set, and the dedication and passion each and every cast and crew member put in to the film... it just hits me
afterglow this spinoff is best star wars movie ever with great storyline and best casts. 6.5 will be awesome where it'll involve large scale space and planetery battle like 3.5 near ending part.
I just figured they cut it entirely, i feel like an alternate ending would mess with theories and answered questions. I know they cut alot of the trailers seens.
It's good but you can't beat A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. There is just something about the time it was made and how much art went into them in the 80's that they seem so amazing to me. If these new films keep this up I think we are in good shape. Prequels? What Prequels?
This guy should have been the director on episode 7 instead of JJ Abrams who just copy pasted the 4th episode A New Hope, JJ Abrams should just stick to Star Trek.
Man, JJ never understood Star Trek. He took a clever franchise about humanistic values, and turned it into action flicks. Now he did the same with Star Wars, thinking action sequences and cheap humor make a good film, despite numerous plot holes and a total lack of world-building. He's just an overappreciated Michael Bay. I wish Gareth had directed episode 7 too. Rian Johnson is our only hope for the new trilogy.
Agreed, Force Awakens was a miserable fan film with a huge budget. It failed on every level ; intensity (no music in key scenes, making Ren take off his mask during a fucking interrogatory), consistence (every character doesn't seem to give a shit about the galaxy, even luke) and a whole lot of other shit like those corny "funny" scenes, when Han picks up Chewies blaster like he never did that in all those years... To be honest, Force Awakens is even worse than the prequels to me. It's not Star Wars at all, It's a parody.
Watching this after seeing the movie made me love it even more, if possible. Gareth did an incredible job bringing something refreshingly new and yet original to the Star Wars saga.
I wouldn't have minded this story being split up in multiple movies. I think there was so much potential with the chemistry between all of the characters
thank you for uploading this, this has to be one of my favorite videos about Rogue One and you put together so many parts, it covered a lot about the movie that just makes me appreciate more.
Anakin and Vader are one in the same... We got Vader's origin story and so I can say firmly those are Vader movies. Spiderman 1 was the transformation from Peter Parker to Spiderman. Are you going to argue that Spiderman 1 is a Peter Parker movie? Nope before you go on about kids being illiterate today maybe sit and listen to what someone says... Sounds good?
I loved this movie so mutch and the trailer is so short but so many good lines by lines i mean what thy are saying and the backround music made me want to watch all the movies yep all of them before i went to watch rouge one omg i loved the movie and so funny i like the new trooper design that they made but its sad they didnt add them in a new hope ... and the rest
It's because Disney thought the movie was too dark and thought it wouldn't make as much money if it was taken from a PG-13 rating. You can't really blame them though since they invested billions of dollars into the license.
Well they really changed how the plans were taken, I mean they kill everyone, you can't say that isn't dark! The Tie fighter at the tower and you see her running with the plans on the beach, she never gets to a beach in the final cut.
Heheheheh...Warwick Davis has probably been involved in ALL the Star Wars projects--he even did the voice of Rukh (Admiral Thrawn's personal bodyguard) in Star Wars: Rebels.
I Loved it! I commend Disney for allowing the film makers the leeway to make the ending so incredibly powerful yet sad. Truly and incredible piece of film making. Take a lesson JJ. Abrams, this is how Star Wars should be made. Epic!
Uhm.... This was between Episode 3 and 4. At the end, Episode 4 begins immediately. Kylo's parents (Han and Leia) didn't even know of each other at this time, so there could be no Kylo. And neither Finn since he was born 11 years after the setting of Rogue One. If a film releases after a previous one in the series, that doesn't mean they come later chronologically. An example are Episodes I - III, they are Prequels. This is both a prequel to the originals and a sequel to the prequels.
I stopped watching trailers for movies I know im going to watch or I watch one trailer to see if I would like to watch it or not. trailers sometimes ruin surprises in the movies so I usually go blind and I tend to enjoy the movie more
OMG i do that 2, i want to experience the movie from scratch not knowing anything. like you said i know that I'm going to see the movie and trailers are just to promote.
