Doug really out here fighting the poozing allegations. All I saying. Master work poozalicious prophesy could be a example of the HIGHEST LEVEL of customizability.
To answer the question in the video, "S-tier" is from the Japanese school grading system. It doesn't mean anything in English. It's for "shu," although is often (erroneously) claimed to be for "superlative." I don't know fuckall about the Japanese language, but I'm told a good translation would be something like "perfect adherence." S-rank started showing up in Japan-made video games (Mario Kart, Devil May Cry, and plenty of others), and from there entered the gamer & weeb lexicon.
I'm once again gonna reference the mullet. Keep the prophecy looking fully clean professional mode when the topper is on and only have accents visible when the topper is off. Business in the front, party in the back.
I dont get Jason saying they want the prototype to be the most affordable custom prophecy. Like, its a custom version of an already 20k table, this prototype should be maximally sick. The signature series accessories are a step above what you’re doing here. My thing with the signature series is that I expect the crazy marquetry and stringing and gnarly wood veneers. This cap stuff is sweet, but it doesn’t reach the same tier of craftsmanship you do on your signature series pieces. “Masterwork” feels like it should be even above that. So custom shop does feel right here, until you actually pull out all the stops
@@zachellis147 oh totally, I just feel like if I’m trying to demonstrate what a custom crafted version of a table that costs more than a car looks like, I’d be willing to apply some of the techniques used in my $300 dice accessories and not try to cut costs
I get what he meant. Wenge is the base model, Rogue is an upper trim but not the yet AMG/TURBO S/TYPE-R/M/TRD trim level. The "rogue" is a custom, but not customizable option. They want to leave some of the more complicated, labor intensive techniques for the actual customized tables, where everything goes as long as you have the cash to pay for it. The rogue is still going to be an item on the regular menu, if you so will. So for color you can tick "rogue" instead of "wenge". In the future there will likely be much more intense versions that those kinds of customized parts make sense for. But not this one. It's like saying luxury car manufacturers should not have different model options just because they are already expensive.
If you want to dig deep into the D&D/rpg element in the name, you have your "core" table, and the mods would be "homebrew", and instead of "series" you could use "edition"
Original series is Prophecy. For making it custom it should be the option to Choose or Forge your own Destiny. And an actual name being Prophecy Reforged
I think the signature series should be kept for limited edition pieces that are 'signed' by the craftsman that created it. I like 'Mythic' for the new series as each piece should be its own story created in collaboration between wyrmwood and the customer. Also, I think the dragon variant logo created by Jiarui would really fit the title of mythic
Providing customized furniture is great - but you actually DON'T want people to build pieces they later regret. Customers love the care they see you put into every detail and bespoke purchasers aren't looking to circumvent that process, but to be a part of it. Ultimately, the piece your team adds to that is guidance and collaboration on what the final product looks like. Wyrmwood Concierge Series
The Masterwork line is the bomb. We call people "master craftsmen" for a reason. There are some great tagline things you can do to highlight the experience. e.g. "With Wyrmwood's Masterwork line, your dreams become reality as we take you on a journey towards refinement. (Or memes.)"
What if the banding on the side actually connected to the logo itself and created the thinner border around the logo? Doug wanted a thinner banding around the logo and it would certainly match the style of the table. You wouldn't want to bring the full banding around the logo but maybe the wenge/maple/wenge strips?
for the toppers, i almost wanna change the red edges and instead just do a band that is the same shape and size as the arm rests. so when you have the toppers both on and off youll have the same stripe pattern around it.
What about making a "Necromancer" table or product where the product is made from damaged production pieces or sections of table that have been returned due to damage, etc. Make it a once a year limited item
Wyrmwood Prettyfication! As an architect, I don't understand how you guys have not built this thing in 3D and rendered it out yet. This would save you so much time and you can do endless itterations on the banding along the aprons (extend over the legs, stop short of, low, middle, high, only vertical along the leg, etc etc etc) and then only craft the best few options. All that prototyping would've taken me probably less than a day. It's nice to see a product, though, so I kind of understand why you guys build physical prototypes as furniture makers, but it's so tedious. And now everyone has to go and do that thing again, for the 2nd version of the prototype (Ian is sent back to bandcamp, for example).
First Idea You could just inlay it not in stripes but has a larger section. So the outer 6" or so is paduke and the interior is maple or a rare wood with a very nice complex wood grain. So the toppers go on and it looks like a pool of wood in the middle, but you have a flush top. Second Idea On the topper do a circular inlay so that when the topper is on the banding makes an O shape, but for it to look great it needs to follow the curve of the topper. I just think that would look way better than the way the edges of the toppers turned out.
Pre-configured options like a class-combo color set or standard wood Prophesy etc -- "Wyrmwood Masterwork" Truly custom where budget isn't an object, with buyer specified woods, custom inlay work, custom details, etc -- "Wyrmwood Custom Masterwork"
When you are trying to sell the emotional experience attached to product (sometimes called luxury), it breaks the spell if you call out that you are selling the experience instead of the product. that's the quiet part.
So many brands have a higher end series, named a series that I feel it still has a mass produced feeling to the name. Custom shop almost has a shock factor to the plain name. " My table is a Wyrmwood Signature series" vs " My table was made in the Wyrmwood custom shop" I think something along the lines of the custom shop has some more bragging rights for the customer who wants other people to know how much they spent on their table. People buy super high end sports cars to be part of the exclusive club and show off, not because they are reliable or comfortable. I think the customer for this specific product would want it well known it was a custom build and not just a standard high end 'series' anyone else could get.
Just add the banding on the long edges and modify the Wyrmwood logo to include the accent color. That will add the necessary pop on all four sides without being overly complicated or having to worry about different pieces aligning properly.
Two things: 1. For the name could it be the Signature Shield Series? Which makes it Triple S tier. 2. For the toppers could a customer have it machined to have their logo or crest on the top? Gather it would need to be filled with resin or something so its still flat. Adds to the signature shield concept.
I wonder how much a 3D artist would help iterate designs, is not like real wood but always gives a nice preview of what it could look like and is a lot faster when just changing colors of wood. I always do some 3D on my stuff before even starting with real thing
I like Signature Series, because it's also secretly S tier. There's nothing wrong with having 2 angles to market something, depending on where you're advertising, you'll have a very different type of audience, reason you can't meme it up on twitch while being classy in magazines.
IMO you have good ideas. So tier is getting me. Also if you do it as thief you want Stealth? So the accent, yes, but making it stealthy? So S as stealth!
Suggestion for the logo on the side of the table: what if you were to make it 3d, just like the screens. Layer the badge and then cnc the negative space around the tree with a v shaped bit? Sanding would be an issue but I think it would look phenomenal.
Signature series should be saved for craftsman specific stuff. Masterworks is fine, but it's okay to save that for the top of the top if Jason wants. Does make some sense since past Masterworks have been really extra.
The S-Tier signature series. I like the stripes on the legs and the body. I think there should be breaks before you reach the edge of each of the wood "pieces" so that it doesn't look weird where you break the band for the logo. (The stripe doesn't need to reach the edge of the piece of wood that it is on, but only for the sides, not the legs or topper.)
Custom implies that we as the customer will have a lot control in the final look. If they are going to be more a line of presets then its more in line with a Series. Master of Signature just fits in line with what you guys have done in the past.
do a siderail with the contrast coloring as a little perduk and maple stipe on the bottom of the rail justa tad thicker strip on the bottom rail maybe 1/4inch t most
It doesnt need to be sexy, it needs to be clear first. Custom Shop is the right thing. From a customer perspective I think you need to add inlay designs to the toppers, the edging isnt enough of a USP for a custom shop build. Have you done any customer research on this or did I miss that video?
Personally i like Prophecy as the line name. I'd make it a SKU of any custom work you do. Say someone wants to buy a dice vault. You have your Master Vault, and then you'd have the Prophecy vault. Or a Prophecy GM Screen. Anything you do to a specific customer spec or designed specifically for someone. Its a cool word, its unique to you and people know it. Personally i'd also generate a "prophecy" only logo that every prophecy product line gets.
"Masterwork" all the way. Also a thought - instead of the shield being on the aprons, what about having them on the legs? If you made them a little thicker and mitered them around the corner, that might also be a cool termination point for the banding on the aprons.
Wyrmwood Customs Then from there you can sub categorise like CAP (classic adventuring party with preset combinations) , Signature Series (wyrmwood design combinations including inlays, marquetry etc) Masterwork (full custom choices by the customer, one of a kind type, sky is the limit) That way you can over a range of experiences depending on how much someone wants to spend and also have clear delineations of what is on offer.
I think if you could make the banding look work on the edge of the toppers, that would really complete the look. It’ll be difficult with the chamfer, but I think it’d be worth it
Alright, feedback on the actual appearance... what you really need is MORE PADUAK when the toppers are on, the wenge still dominates 90% to 10%. With how striking the color combo is, you actually want to balance the colors out more, so it looks less like a wenge table with added bells & whistles & more of a combination of both the primary & secondary woods. Some thoughts on how to get there: * banding you are already talking about adding * lean harder into the padauk & maple with the logo - of note, I think the best looking logos in isolation are the ones with all 3 woods, & a wenge tree on a maple background... but in the context of the table with the topper on I don't think you want ANY wenge in the logo, it needs to be dominated by the secondary & accent color to balance out the rest of the table * triangular 'backgammon' style inserts/veneer, specifically fairly large paduak ones pointing up along the legs with no maple border ala the banding. This will let you subtly increase the amount of paduak shown without looking too garish, greatly balancing out the colors. It would also be an alternative to the banding on the legs, and less susceptible to issues with aligning the banding.
Wyrmwood Bespoke. What that topper needs is more padauk. Create a star pattern ala the navigation star via inlay or using the same technique as the edge across all the toppers. The difficulty level will be much higher and would break up the monotone of the solid top.
How about repeat the band inlay from the armrest onto the toppers? Really would give it a heirloom feel, since if you look at old master European furniture, that is a high end thing.
"Ascend" - "Ascension" Fits with the fantasy theme of Wyrmwood as well as the increase in tier from every perspective (quality, accents,...money...). You can mix and match the two as a command and an idea.
i like using masterwork or signature. I think adding something to the legs would be away to add a pop of color if your not going to add stringing to the apron of the table. I think naming it S tier just brings it down and doesn't elevate it like the prophecy is.
would love to see what it looks like with the banding only on the aprons and not the legs, I think that could look pretty sharp. Also if you put the banding on the toppers (not a fan but if you did) then I think you would need to go back to not having the different woods on the edge, could look interesting.
I like the banding near the ankles of the table. And the table could have different "shoes". Maybe a harder wearing material, vacuum cleaners mops etc. interact a lot with the thin veneer at the base of the legs.
You have the answer in the video! Wyrmwood Superior. S tier but without the colloquialism. What’s superior? The product, the craftsmanship, the experience, the customizability… all of it. Make the S in the word superior really ornate and golden so it looks rich but still fits the wormwood logo styles and now the logo is a bright golden S which most people would think “S tier” if they’re in the know but you never need to say “S tier”
In the guitar world custom shop usually means something that was nice made "better" by professional customization. And very expensive. So, I'd say it fits.
I like the banding on the armrests, but I'm not a fan of the new topper borders. It makes the toppers look unframed. Like the edge of a canvas where the paint stops, it looks like the padauk is bleeding out from under the wenge. Suggestions for names: "Wyrmwood Gold" - like the medal, not the metal. "Wyrmwood Craftsman's Choice" - to go with your Craftsman's Promise. "Wyrmwood Eleven" - This one goes to 11.
I really like the anklets around the legs, i wouldnt want the banding on the aprons to wrap around the legs and id like the weight on the banding on the armrests to be thicker but not crazy. I also think the banding on the aprons would look better placed on the top third instead of the bottom
Vertical banding on the outer edges of the apron against the legs. Anything with series in the name feels like it should be a stock item (perhaps limited/premium stock, but still stock). Wyrmwood Reward Tier, Wyrmwood Indulgence.
Banding along the sides is going to give "Guy pimping his Honda Civic" vibes. Might as well bolt a spoiler on it to go along with the go faster stripes. On the other hand, the banding around the base of the legs does add class and help balance the piece.
"Wyrmwood Next Level+" With the tag line " Elevate your furniture experience to the next level..." The + sign at the end would signify the customization options .
Look real nice. I think something said was that the padauk would age and become deeper later. So when your making these decisions don't forget that the color your picking is going to change. It might be too red now but in a year or two it will be the color you want it to be and stay that way.
I feel like if the Prophecy only ever came in the adventure party schemes I’d wish you could get one “plain”. It’s nice to see the Prophecy line getting some love though. Topper blocks when?
I think Wyrmwood Masterwork really encapsulates the effort and output of what you are working on. Signature works too, but Masterwork feels more... Upleveled. Also I love these design discussion videos.
Wyrmwood Legendary Line for alliteration or Wyrmwood Legendary Edition for a more gamer oriented feeling. Both reference the best items in games like World of Warcraft or D&D.
I think the Topper has the right colors, but swap the paduke with the maple. That high contrast is already going to come through with any color change, but the colorful paduke would add a tasteful highlight to your highlight. It'll be a multi-layered contrast instead of a "WHAM" in your face contrast. TLDR- Regarding the topper, swap the wide band of Paduke with Maple and shift the small crossbanding layer over to paduke.
Saw somone say Masterwork Series and i think that works best. It's already used in your other items as I recall. For like dice towers and vaults specifically I believe?
"supercilious masterworx" its was popular from the 1800's. its on the rise of popularity. meaning : behaving or looking as though one thinks one is superior to others
They're doing 3 new tiers of prophecy, Rogue ie new colorways, then signature series and custom which is the top. I would call this first tier Wyrmwood Deluxe.
Legendary series, or Wyrmwood Artifacts. I love the banding, but with the toppers on, it looked a bit boring, and slightly less classy than the original. The lower banding around the shield looked good, especially rounding off before hitting the legs. I feel like the toppers need some detail on top to pull the red in a bit more. Perhaps a large shield or custom logo in the centre?
The dark brown table with the orange colored banding is not a good contrast in colors. The padauk banding would look better on a lighter colored table like maple. Using the middle Wyrmwood logo that was on the second board that had the white outline and the red colored logo would look great with the color option I listed previously. The banding for the dark table would look good if you completely removed the red color in the middle and replace it with the same dark color as the table or go just a shade lighter.
"Travelling Encounters" ; "Traveller's Encounters" ; "Encounters in the Wyrm Wood" ; "Woodland Encounters" ; "Wyrmwood Encounters" "On your travels, you will meet many a folk. This series encapsulates all of these strange kin. Meet your first encounter in the Wyrm Wood: The Rogue Prophecy" It ties into wyrmwood, dnd, gaming, the already available "lore" of either wyrmwood products or dnd chars and practically wears it's marketing on it's sleve.
For the banding have the side banding terminate at the legs with the legs having a separate banding close to the ground, or just have the banding on the sides, or just have the banding on the legs.
When I heard "rogue table", I was thinking a more stealth look that maybe shows a very traditional look on the outside and keeping most of the custom designs on the interior where the hobbyist's experience would be.
just throwing out a few options: Wyrmwood Platinum Wyrmwood Platinum Series Wyrmwood Customs Wyrmwood Custom Selections also as a side, you should call the set of class tables either Wyrmwood Adventurer Series or Wyrmwood Adventurers
