Observations: 1) I would buy a topper bench, but not to have at my table. I'm old, and I can't go without back support for 6+ hour marathon games. 2) With the number of great ideas and observations that came out of Matt today, whatever you pay him is not nearly enough. 3) For the love of Gorilla Grodd, can we PLEASE have some chairs with storage and that amazing Wyrmwood logo back that Ed made a couple years back?! I need those in my life. I wouldn't pay the price Wyrmwood is charging for what's basically a normal wood chair, but I would pay much more than that for a set of those for my MGT. Even if I had to buy 1 a year or something, I would pay a premium for them.
I think the storage bench is a great idea. You'd only need one of them and have either chairs or regular benches on the other sides of the table. I'd get one if I could afford an MGT for sure. Also, that Hex Prophecy looks AMAZING Gotta love Crazy Ed and the ideas he comes up with when he's left alone with no supervision.
Have you considered someone wanting to buy three small Benches, and setting them together for a "big Bench", but with separate opening seats for stuff inside them?
topper bench is amazing! maybe some kind of drop in tray for table accessories as well? take out the toppers, store the accessories on the drop in tray while you use the table, when you go back to gaming, pull out the drop in tray to store the toppers?
I think the idea behind the storage bench is good, but it feels a bit awkward beside the table, too heavy. It really has the appearance of a chest over a bench, and I think you’d kick your feet into it fairly frequently. The hex prophecy table looks amazing!
Idea for the cushioned bench. Could you do an inset cushion. Like a wood open top box that you set the cushion in. Then you get more visible wood. It could connect to the box with magnets. That or the chest idea
I'll be honest, I really wasn't planning on getting a bench for my MGT and was likely just going to find some decent chairs at Ikea...but that topper bench concept has absolutely grabbed my attention. This is something you guys seriously need to follow up on because the multi-functionality is the same reason I was convinced to order an MGT in the first place. Ian mentioned it was a bit short, if you made it longer perhaps you could add a divider for storage like books and small games? Not much, just a simple cubby. Or you could make the foam slots removable so that you can have 2 of these at a table, one for toppers and the other as pure storage.
All this shipping talk is kind of wild for a Canadian, this is just our every day. I constantly get charged $40 from UPS because they rubber stamped for a $10 customs charge, on an $80 item that I had to pay $25 in shipping on, and I'm a half hour away from the US border. I ended up buying a car partly so I can just drive over the border and get my shit myself.
The storage bench works on soooo many levels and is kind of a no brainer. Why it wasn't thought of before baffles me. Seems crazy not to be an option after knowing how perfectly it fits into the basic problem of storing your toppers. It is a must have!
The topper bench chest solves the issue where folks who have game rooms who have no more wall or floor space due to already having too many games/minis, etc, now can store their toppers. IMO it's a grand idea. As for the Prophecy bench, I'm unsure how Doug can be worried about the 'plasticy' sight of the hinges, yet be ok with that terrible looking plywood inside top and bottom. Yes, it's in a bench and possibly use much better plywood, but a veneer, at least on the top, would look so much better when that lid is lifted.
I would love an MGT bench! I would like it to just have normal storage for things like my GM screen. I like the idea of it holding the toppers, but then my topper block that was not cheap is basically a waste :( I also assume the bench is going to be too expensive. $100-200, easy buy. More than that would be tough to justify and i assume it's going to be like $400.
That hex version is SOOO much better for people in tiny dwellings. Can't wait to see the development of it. it'll really throw some crazy hiccups into production.
I love the topper bench, some ideas! 1) you need two benches for two sides, so you can possibly reduce the depth through 4 storage slots on 2 sides of the table so that it does match as a bench on both sides. 2) if you move it to a coffee table option, use those hinges from the pup table that "open flat" so the top can remain full of stuff and not be removed each time i want to store the toppers. i love the topper coffee table idea most. I have a topper block so i couldnt justify getting the topper bench for storage as it would completely negate a $300 investment, but the dual use of a coffee table option is much more appealing to "toss" the topper block. Love the idea, but im generally not going to be your purchaser however, as i have my solution already, if this had come out 2-3 years ago i would buy this.
Sadly I'd want matching benches, so if I got the topper block bench I'd like to have the other one for maybe board game storage or accessories storage.
The topper storage bench might make a good end bench which would fit all sizes of table so you can have small, medium, large side benches and the storage bench for the ends
The storage bench idea is perfect. Love the idea of blocking them off too to make them longer so each end can be used for additional storage for the other modular items.
No offense guys but if I'm going to spend enough money to buy a Wyrmwood bench for my MGT I'm getting an expandable one. And I really want a bench for my (currently) small table, for the record.
