My grandfather fell on Namur; Feb 1, 1944. Pfc Edward Pretaboir, 24th Marines, 4th division, B company. From memory, I believe that's right. He hit green beach 2. I was fortunate to visit the battlefield about 20 years ago. It was a proud moment. Ya it's something to listen to you describe details of the fighting, and those Japanese firing positions on green beach 2; and everywhere else for that matter. Good video

This was absolutely great. Thanks for this historical video about little known Roi Namur. I especially took interest having lived on Saipan and Guam and indulging in its ww2 history. I didn't hear any mention of Lee Marvin. He was with the 4th Marine division on Kwajelein and wounded on Saipan. The 4 th Marines were reservist as was 70 percent of the Marines during ww2. They went on to Iwo Jima after Saipan. They took the brunt and took names.

My great grandfathers purple heart was from the island of Roi when the Japanese fire bombed it. He was in the 302nd naval construction battalion

Shoutout to the 1/24th of the 4th marine division, they fought hard and pushed the enemy to the edge of the island with their sister units

Thanks for this tour! My Great Uncle, Lt. John V. Power was killed here and was one of the 4 MoH Recipients. Is the island open to civilians to visit?

I am familiar with your great-uncles story since my great-uncle was also killed the same day on the same island (Namur). Lt. Power was Company K and my relative (James R. Zarillo) Company M. I worked in Worcester back in 2005 but didn't know a Lt. Power's story. I will be sure to visit his statue next time I am in Massachusetts.

Can someone, any Subject Matter Expert, that know about events that happened during WWII particularly, Kosrae Island, explain something to me. I have a question in regards to the bombing of Kosrae Island on 18 January 1944. I want to know where did the US planes come from. Please email me or leave a message here. OR direct me to where I can get the answer. Thank you.
