I agree 100% with your thoughts on Apex being perfect for a beginner in the hobby. I have worn fragrance daily for 30 years but at any given time I would have 2 bottles at most and they were basic designer daily drivers. Several months ago I got a sample pack from Roja and fell in love with Apex. The price tag got me but now after working my way up the food chain I am ok with the idea of forking out what is necessary for the juice. I actually ordered it last week as a reward for clearing a massive obstacle in my life. Much love Ram!
Admittedly though I have worn fragrances daily since the early 90s I am new to fragcom and just now starting my true journey. Made my way through a Roja discovery pack a couple months ago and Apex is one I liked a lot. It's closer to the smells I remember my family members wearing as a kid for some reason. Edit: just finished the video. Exactly that. Hearkens back to a vintage but with a modern twist.
I bought a bottle of this because I grew up in the 80s and 90s and just can't get into a lot of the stuff that's around today. My favorites back in the day were Farenheit and Drakkar Noir. This kind of reminds me of stuff in the same spirit that I can wear to work without thinking. I also watched your top 100 video. You should check out Senyoko Hora de Le Verdad Sombra. It's the most animalic thing I've ever smelled. Castoreum, Civet. Leather, blood,everything...I don't think it's wearable for me. My wife liked it from far away but gagged up close. It's ridiculous.
i liked apex edp. Main reason for that is its similarity with TF italian cypress(i love it, sadly discontinued). The only thing that bothered me a lil is the pineapple note which peaks through from time to time throughout the whole transition journey on skin. for me though as it becomes more and more italian cypress as it reaches it's dry down and that works for me really well.

However I'm not a fan of labdanum overdose Quick note that Halston Z-14 was reformulated around 2010-11 and totally destroyed. So look for bottles from before that or else you get horrid Big Red cinnamon rather than a beautiful woody chypre.
I never smelled the Parfum yet but I liked the EDP... I wouldn't buy it since I have multiple bottles of Halston Z-14 & Valentino Vendetta Pour Homme... but if I had a bottle I would wear it occasionally 🤷🏻♂️
You say this doesn't smell like aventus but it actually does smell abit like aventus only its the new absolu aventus. Got my bottle last week i really like it.
I have a full bottle of Apex and I enjoy it, quite a bit actually. It’s one of my favorite Roja’s. It’s nothing outstanding or special, but it’s easy for me to wear.
Never understood the hate for Roja's fragrances (other than the prices). Amber Aoud is probably a top 5 frag in my entire collection. People who call his brand a clone brand also make me laugh...he has released over 100 fragrances and maybe 6 are an hommage to other fragrances (and most are better than the originals). Hoping to add Diaghilev and Amber Aoud Absolut Precieux soon. Great objective review of this fragrance and his brand in general Ramsey
I have a love-hate relationship with the brand. The hate is the eye watering prices. The love however is for the fragrances. Is Roja the perfumer? Define what it means to be a perfumer…do I believe he’s come up with the concept of the fragrance, it’s structure, it’s key ingredients? Yes. Do I believe he’s thought through the marketing, presentation etc. Yes. Do I believe he’s executed the process of making the fragrance. Of course not. Much like in my line of work the architect is the person defining a solution and the engineer is the one doing the work to build it. Without the architect there was no solution. And to that end has he ‘cloned’ fragrances. Copied yes. This guy knows perfume more than most of us. And the general audience for his stuff doesn’t have the same knowledge that we do of the classics he’s copied. Diaghilev is a must buy. Close your eyes and click pay now. 😂

I enjoy smelling Apex, but for me it's not good enough for a full bottle. I'd prefer Goodman's over Apex to be honest, similar vibes. Great video as always!
Love it. Both the Stars/Wild & Mapes/TB series have so far been the best of rd. 1 imo - NHL's playoff is the best out of any of the pro sports... Go Aves, and galbanum!

Love vintage. Love more than a few Rojas.. Apex? Nah.. 1/10 for me. Smells like toilet freshner that has "forest" written on it. Couldn't believe it was Roja, when I smelled it. I am not this hard on fragrances most of the time. But considering the price and the brand, for me Roja apex is even worse than Creed Viking Cologne. And that says something.. :D Worst Roja I ever tried.
@@RamseytheRam Thats why I used it in my comment :D Viking cologne IS ONE of the worst frags I have ever smelled.. And to my nose, apex is even worse. I am surprised you somewhat liked it. When I smelled it for the first time my first thought was "Oh man can't wait for Ramsey to bash this one to the moon and back" :D
