You could also say derailed. The deep notes on this version's base is insane. And it's a masterful combination of both into one offspring that's even more mad than his two parental predecessors.
I think of it as the first two being sadistic with a touch of madness but the prince being truly insane, unpredictable, and with enough wit to take down his opponents without raising a finger
I like to think that there's a story happening here with the Mad Ruler songs. We start off with the King, probably in his old age and wearied by it, has a mental break from the trauma of seeing too many horrors in his life as well as committing all of those horrors himself. The Old King breaks under the weight of years. In response, his wife the Queen has him assassinated for showing weakness and breaking under the pressure of said atrocities. She assumes power and rules with a Cloak and Dagger. A true Queen of Ice and Knives. The Prince is raised by his mother to believe that his father was a strong man who gave into weakness at the end of his life and so she teaches her son to be strong no matter what. How does the Prince respond to this? By staging a coup on the Queen and placing himself on the throne, drinking his parents blood and believing that by "becoming" them he has a chance to exceed them! A Prince who saw his parents murder as the only sane thing worth doing.
PTSD after dealing with the devil himself. Queen usurped the throne. The Prince after both parents dead now has a throne to himself... Until he is dethroned by the next mad being.
@@Niyto I'm in favor of a Mad Princess. Not just to complete the set of the family but because a purplish/pinkish little girl sitting on the stone throne with all three of her family's heads sitting at her way-too-short-for-such-a-big-throne feet while she smiles the biggest and creepiest smile imaginable for a little girl.
Yeah? With a child princess, she could easily poison that drink over there. Don't know about the head though. Sure it's a crazy family but that would mean she dug up the previous monarchs.
@@Niyto fair enough. I just want to see a little kid ruin a bloodline and proudly own it like it was easy as learning how to walk. Also I feel she deserves some Joker vibes for her story because she's the one who succeeded her family's blood feud, even though by rights you would think that she should've been the first one to die or the last to be remembered, like Joker.
Actually, life spans could be surprisingly long in the Middle Ages, especially for rulers. The primary forces pushing down life expectancies were war and a truly absurd infant mortality rate, but in particular if you made it past childhood even peasants could live into their sixties regularly.
"Father dearest, mother mine, your bloodied throne, how divine; Maddened King, hear her sing, by my strings, tattered wings, father's head severed, his kingdom left tethered to her grin mired in sin - - Father dearest, have you seen? Your lovely Queen, her fate obscene, she joins you now in hellish dream~ Your bloodied throne, how divine~ You're both dead, and now it's mine~" The Mad Prince
“In the early days, we believed the bloodline had been culled of its twisted corruption. That the madness of the king and queen would not bleed into the mind of their son, our prince. It seems I must admit with great regret, we were mistaken; we made the wrong bet..” ~ Anlo Thorp, Burgomaster.
"Most unfortunate indeed. He now has lost his sanity, perhaps more so than his parents before him. And yet, there is hope, for my sources tell me the Crown of Spines has refused his head. Perhaps one other will stand to rule in his stead?"
@@thecomposerchanginggames5250 “A bittersweet revelation, truly. Such is the darkness held within his heart, that the crown would fear to rest upon his head. You say there is hope that another will carry the weight, I believe for that; it may be too late. The Crown sits at his Feet, a badge, a reminder of our most sinister defeat. The king we feared, the queen we loved, the prince we failed.. this curse is ours..” ~ Mykal Fayed, Prophet of the Eyes of Rok
The cursed bloodline must be purged or the curse of the crown of spines will continue to befall us. Just like those who came before the King, Queen and now the prince I fear it is the only but if there is a light somewhere in the darkness we must find it to end the war and chaos of madness. Thel Tuarc, Primus of the Sanguine Angels.
“We called his parents mad. Aye his father was cruel with a penchant for executions, and aye his mother plotted and schemed the downfall of her enemies with no remorse but now. Now we see what two people like that can make. He’s unhinged, decadent and worst of all he’s strong enough both in body and mind to keep hold his throne. This Prince is madness unleashed truly, one can only hope his sister is an exception to the rule of this bloodline.”
The mad prince: I like this one she has very nice eyes Royal advisor: should I arrange a meeting with her The mad prince: no you misunderstood me I like her eyes. I want her eyes Royal advisor: as you wish your majesty
I can just picture the advisor's face after the prince says: I want her eyes. The pause as he stops to think about it for a moment and then is like: As you wish your majesty. lol
This is really good. I think this is what happens when People Blindly elect someone to a Higher Authority without his qualifications. This music tells the fate of that Nation's Downfall.
“My parents failed to see a greater goal, they had only wanted influence over the lands but I see peoples minds, while my parents played war with generals from nations across the seas, I wove my influence into the societies of every great empire of this age, at my whim I could crumble nations to dust just by saying it true, you may have heart hero but everyone falls eventually, you will just fall far sooner the others.”
"Speak not of the prince. He saw the horrors of the second war of madness and decided they were lovely." Perhaps it would be best to actively purge the scions of this accursed lineage from whom it seems madness is entrenched. - Last entry of a bloodstained journal belonging to the archmage and a disjointed response. "You first"
My parents were small minded, whiny, and slow. They failed to grasp what larger powers lay within our lands. Gold and silver and precious jewels lie beneath the mountains. And I want them. We shall unbury the rushes of our lands and use them as vessels for our great machines. Let them fund our armies efforts. And when we are finished, I and I alone, shall sit upon a throne made of gold
" In that moment of passion they had sewn all of their sadness, hatred, grief, and madness into a beloved child. So bright he was, our sun had finally risen......we could not imagine what horror could become when passed down through generations.....Blinded as we were by his light.....we could not see the red at the edge of the gleaming horizon."
God, this is my favorite now. It's so heavy and intense. I knew it was going to be badass when someone joked about "First king, then queen, what next? Mad Prince?" and you liked it. I just knew if it was going to happen it would be glorious and look now. Glorious indeed!
Can't wait to see if we'll get nobility after the royalty... "The Mad Baron", "The Mad Count", "The Mad Knight", all that....Can't wait to see and hear it!
I am pleased. I enjoyed the deep bass background thump (the best I can describe it as) that happens for the breaks in the song. I also feel the high discordant tones compliment the theme of the song well. One idea, if you want to do one last Mad song, you should do “The Mad Exile.” He is basically a member of the family who was cast out from the kingdom and has returned to take the throne since the kingdom is weaker now. He is bent on revenge, and when he takes the throne he will restore it to its former glory (or better).
I'm doing the same. I'm hoping we get the Mad Jester at some point. Also, someone else had commented that this series of songs should end with the Mad Throne because that is what all of them are fighting for. I thought that was a cool way of thinking about it.
'Ghosts of the past have come, haunting empty halls. Knocking on cold bones, where once I knew love. But... I need not no such luxury while battling foes of my ill-begotten father. Yet, I yearn, deep inside. Mother, oh mother, whatever have we done? I'll die ... feeling the warmth buried within.'
The lead up to that snap, you think you catch your breath and then it continues with the taunts of the foot steps as the prince runs up to you. My god he entices me. He mezmerizes me. Im happy to be his victim. Im not kidding this makes me smile so big!!! It soothes my soul! I almost feel his maddness coursing through my veins!!!!!
Rok Nardin is back at it again!?!?! Yaaaaaaaassss!!!!!!!! This was well worth the wait, and I wait with excitement for the next addition to the mad court!!! This was brilliant!!!!
Let's goooooo!!!! This series has got to be some of the best """"Epic"""" music there is tbh. I love using it for my private dungeons and dragons sessions, for those insane (Mad if you will ;)) encounters.
After the Mad King, the Mad Queen and now the Mad Prince, the last Champion of Chaos remains! The Mad Jester!!! Laugh! Laugh to your Hearts limit!!! Hahahahaha....
As the fight for the broken throne continues, the remaining royalty look out over the kingdom and see what is left. Nothing, only the people they have forsaken in there petty fight for a now meaningless seat in an empty castle.
This "Mad" series is so amazing, and has so much material for expansion. Can you imagine a Mad Jester? You could go pretty chaotic with that. I see others asking for a Mad Princess too, or you could do a Mad Knight. I'm just finding myself playing these 4 songs on loop for the last several weeks.
So here the MAD series continue...thank you so much!! we shall wait for arrival of the princess, maybe even knight Mad dragon would be badass name as well
"So far as he is able, a prince should stick to the path of good." "But if the necessity arises, he should know how to follow evil." "The prince dare not let ethics keep him from doing whatever evil must be done to preserve himself and the state." "Between good and evil, those who are good and would fight evil, adopt the ways of evil, evil always wins."
Incredible song. I've never feel like that much of a mad scientist while studying chemistry with this song in background. Thank you so much Rok Nardin !
And thus, the King, long forgot, shadows under the goblet of fresh wine. And the Queen, sundered from the throne, trampled beneath the boots of progress. But the Prince chooses to recline instead in the ruins of successes before.
OMG, I'm just now realizing that the Mad Prince is using the Mad King's head as a table for his wine & the Mad Queen's head as a pillow for his feet! WOW!!!! This family really is mad!
