Here are some simple methods to fix your internet or WiFi if it isn't connecting to your Roku stick.
If you are still having problems connecting to wifi then get one of these devices to use as your main streaming player instead of using the system on your TV -

I had an Amazon firestick hd, it failed all the time. I hated the stick! I bought the roku stream bar and overall it works pretty well but sometimes it gets stuck, I’m not sure why but usually a system restart fixes, sometimes I have to unplug but this morning it took restarting over and over and now the apps work except discovery + which always seems to be bugged

Gotta share that even though Wi-Fi was working fine across other devices, and I assumed my router was not the problem, I tried this method and it didn’t work, I repeatedly restarting roku, and only then did I restart my router (new house, had to contact roommate to find router) - and restarting the router finally fixed it. Just wanted to leave a comment encouraging people to TRY EVERY SINGLE STEP before giving up and buying new hardware!! Good luck everyone

Im in a hotel, I suppose I could ask them to restart the router. ? Disrupt everyone's wifi that is probably working just fine. The Roku is becoming more trouble than it's worth.

@@amypola5903The real solution is don't ever buy a Roku TV because they are defective. This is the fourth video I've tried; followed all steps three times in a row and this is after already trying everything the Roku website recommends; even did a factory reset and updated all of the software. Still doesn't work.

89 year old mom just had this problem with a roku I installed for her. She has covid and is quarantined in assisted living and the buildings direct tv went out. Roku was her only entertainment. I was able to talk her through this fix today and you really saved her week! Very grateful!

After following the steps, my Roku did not automatically reconnect like I assumed it would, but when I went to Network and setup the wireless connection, it connected immediately! I have a Roku Ultra that is less than a year old and this has been driving me crazy. It happened at a hotel after a few months of being there and working fine, and then after a couple of weeks of being in my new home it happened suddenly again and rebooting the router and Roku would not fix the problem. I am not a fan of RU-vid videos because in most situations it takes way longer to get the information needed then a printed article, but I have to compliment you for making this video short and concise AND you put the text on the screen for the buttons to push and that helped a lot! Thank you so much for your video!

I had to try this several times…. The last time I left the pings off, restarted it, then turned them back on and it finally worked!! Thank you so much! This has been driving me crazy! The weird thing for me is that this is the newer of two rokus that we have. It’s the 4K one… my other cheaper one has been working fine for years!

After I did the first part (disable portion), I didn't want to restart the system as I thought that might wipe out my channels/settings, so I did the following on my Roku 50S421 tv. I went to SETTINGS / SYSTEM / ADVANCED SYSTEMS SETTINGS. I chose Network connection reset. After that, the tv recognized my WI-FI network. It worked. This video was extremely helpful. Thanks!

This worked for me, at first I couldn’t find system restart in that hidden menu, selected “Power” from the menu, and System Restart was in that submenu. Chose my network in the settings, and all was well! Thank you SO much!

Did not work for me, but I connect the Roku to my cell hotspot and the damn thing finally connected to the internet (I didn't want to factory reset my router, I have 2) After the initial setup, everything worked. Then, I connected the Roku back to the home network and got internet connectivity. Thank you guys

This seems to have solved the issue for us, thanks so much for the video! We were having no trouble at all with our Roku up until yesterday morning, where every time we'd start it up, it wouldn't connect to our Wi-Fi. I change batteries , nothing. I moved the router box ( After moving it back n forth 8x) and tried it again, IT WORKED!!! 4 days without it. It was MURDER! 😂

Seems to be more of an intentional thing from Roku. I have 3 older boxes, all stopped working the same day. Won’t connect anymore. But I have 2 newer ones that are still working fine, even if you bring them to different TVs around the house. They want you to keep buying the newest ones

Great video showing all these backdoors. Why is this is so secret? But unfortunately did not work for me. I can't tell whether it's Roku, my Dennon AV receiver or some intermediary software. in the past I simply hooked up Roku and it worked like a charm immediately. Now something is blocking it.

@@JuanCamacho21 you are right. After a frustrating 24 hours here's what I determined. No one is talking about this. It will not work with 5 GHz wireless. Only 2.4 GHz. And for some reason it will not connect with my Wi-Fi extender. So I am left with the lower speed 2.4 GHz non-Wi-Fi extender. Then I was able to connect.

I called customer service and we tried a whole bunch of stuff , even after factory reset it still won’t work and now I can’t even get to the Home Screen either . I have a Roku device, still won't connect on one TV but, the others are fine. We have 4 Rokus on 4 tvs. Only one is consistently problematic. They keep telling me to reboot everything modem, TV, router, Roku but nothing works to hold the connection. Once the TV is turned off, it never reconnects without unplug, reboot, etc, it's awful.

I got the secret menu to come up no problem, but disabling the network pings did nothing. I did a factory reset & it finally connected & started downloading updates but now it gets stuck at 49% & says it can't finish. I'm worried it's my router now.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me either. What worked was logging into my ISP's account (I have Xfinity) and changing the Wi-Fi channel mode to b,g,n.

How long is the restart supposed to take? It never comes back on after I hit restart. It behaves like off. Then the screen says no signal. I have to unplug the roku 4k streaming stick from the TV then plug it back in. But now that doesn't seem to be working either. And before when it did come on, it wouldn't show the name of the device in the wifi list to connect to. Im close to giving up using it. Constant problems.

Thanks for the video, well explained. I have tried this solution before, and sometimes it works, most often it does not… My roku express has been unable to connect to my wifi now (router standing 3 m away) for almost 4 months. Only system on the market that cannot do the basics, even my watch connect without issues. I will definitely not purchase roku again.

We do not get the Roku platform secret screen when following these directions. We got a connection set up screen and following those directions did not work. So, I tried turning off the router for a minute and that fixed it. The ISP had done "maintenance" 2 nights ago, but I didn't think of that as a possible issue at first, since the other Roku in the house is still working.

Thank you, Juan. Same issues as other, Roku just stopped connecting one day (right in the middle of trying to get caught up on Yellowstone, of all things). I tried everything last night, unplugging router, changing batteries in remote, resetting the Roku multiple times, spinning in circles and chanting, throwing things at my dog, nothing worked. So I did everything you suggested here, and it still wouldn't connect. So, I went into Settings and reconnected the Roku to my internet, and shazam! Thank you, thank you, and my dog thanks you as well!

I just wanna add if anyone has a Roku device that hooks up to their tv through HDMI and followed these steps and nothing worked, try factory resetting your WiFi router. That was the only way I fixed this issue!!

Ah_this Your router should have a reset button. If you have a manual for it it will tell you how to reset. Possible you will need something pointed and small like a pen to push the reset button in.

Have network pings disabled. Every time I reset my router or lose the wi-fi signal my roku device will not connect for 1-2 days. It is a pathetic design. No matter what I do even when my wi-signal strength says "excellent" it will not connect. Do not buy this device.

I have xfinity/comcast and resetting the router always seems to do the trick. Sometimes my internet will be fine on all my other devices but the Roku will not connect. Just have to sacrifice the internet on the other devices for a few moments while the router resets.

I have a tcl Roku smart tv and it randomly stopped connecting and keeps giving me the error 014.50 code, is there a different way to help with the built in Roku version instead? This sadly didn’t work ):

my roku stick works for like streaming services except the roku channel or when you use ROKU to search for a movie or TV show it will bring up the results but when you click on the movie or show it says network error and if you go to the ROKU channel nothing loads FAILED TO LOAD CONTENT also my roku temperature says 86C thats pretty hot yours says 48C
