compared to the same cube with two channels; is there a difference in sound? i bought this one because I just wanted to have those woofers and tweeters or whatever adding to the sound
Hi Paulyllow The KC series of amps are specifically tuned for Roland pianos and keyboards so they will possess slight differences in the sound compared to the Cube Street which is an all around workhorse amplifier. it'll still sound great given the full range speaker and it's fully portable! I'd head down to your local dealer and give one a try. Find your local Roland dealer here: www.rolandcorp.com.au/support/dealer_locator/
Hi there Dallas, It largely depends what you're plugging in as the BA330 is more like a portable P.A speaker rather than a general busking amp. Having the larger speaker, it is capable of pushing more air if you need more bottom end. The Cube is aimed more at instrument amplification and has the guitar amp section whereas the BA330 is more for amplifying a music mix in combo with a keyboard and voice for example. Best thing is to take what it is you will be amplifying into a dealer to try for yourself? Thanks again for asking.
What is the sound comparison to the earlier street cube? Do the larger speakers make a warmer tone? Is there significantly more grunt? I'm looking at this because I have been trying the BA-330 but experiencing an automatic limiting and distortion without being very loud, I have noticed other reviews have mentioned this also are you aware of this problem? I bought it without trying it because I was so happy with the original street cube. While it has a much larger dynamic range and quality of sound it doesn't mean much with the EQ function and lack of power past half way on the volume where the cube for example can keep cranking, and has stood the test of time doing so as well. Answer is much appreciated as a previously loyal Roland Customer.
HI Anton. The previous Cube Street had 2 6.5 inch woofers and a bass reflex port. It was also a 5 Watt system. The Cube Street EX has 2 8 inch woofers with inbuilt 2 inch tweeters running at a maximum of 50 Watts. Therefore you not only get a greater frequency range available, you also have a lot more power to work with (which in turn means that you can drive the system at higher volumes without distortion). I'd definitely suggest heading down to your local store and trying one out!
Hi Konrad. Talk to your local Roland dealer. They should be able to order one to arrive off the first shipment. Find your local Roland dealer here: www.rolandcorp.com.au/support/dealer_locator/
I saw a busker using one of these in Melbourne yesterday, and it sounded amazing. Nice and loud and warm. Just one question: in addition to being able to load AAs into it, does it also have a built-in battery? Thanks.
Hi Neil There is no built in battery but with a full compliment of AAs you get quite a bit of playing time. The unit can also be mains powered so you can save your Batteries for the street.
