So informative, clear and concise explanation of features and functions. Thank you for making this tutorial it has given more understanding of my options and given more confidence within myself. Cheers.
how are the performance pads on yours? i feel like i really gotta jam my finger down into the pad to trigger it even though i adjusted the sensitivity to it's most sensitive
Really useful thanks. For info I couldn’t quite read the labels on the buttons if you could zoom in more it would help since the unit only takes up about 1/4 of the screen in this video.
I plan on using my own creations in Serato which I am pretty sure that is possible. I am also going to have interaction with my audience where I plan to capture through the mic in the 505 or on Live and then play that back to the house. Can I record to the 505 directly. Seems like I can.
Thanks for TRS demo. You show how to switch between TRS patterns, but pls could you explain how you assign/save a pattern you've created to a number and also how to clear a saved pattern and also the pattern you're working on. The Clear button just doesn't appear to do anything! I am having to manually switch off each instrument in turn to return to an empty pattern. Really annoying/time consuming. Excellent video by the way!
I bought the roland 505 used. Can you confirm that the performance pads do not have the "click," such as play or cue? I have no feedback when I press them and I would like to understand if this is a problem with my purchase or was it born that way. I am selling from the native instruments world where pressing the button gives feedback. Thank you
Does anyone know if Serato has a batch BPM detector that could scan a folder or "crate" and assign a BPM tag? Currently, the only way I know how to do this is load each track individually.
I have a issue with my TR. When i press play the sound goes direct over the master. The vokume knob is the mix area is disabled. How do i reset this setting. Thx in advance 😁
I’m trying to figure out why the Split Cue Function setting is so difficult to access. I literally just found it by starting Serato but not hooking up the hardware (my DJ-505)
hey when i havea mic connected, the crossfader impacts the mic volume, when i have it all the way to the left it fades the mic volume, when its set to the right i get full mic volume. any issues on how to address this?
The start/stop button for my drum machine is going very fast and when I press start the drum machine is going ridiculously fast as well do you know how to fix this?
Don't see too many replies from you in these posts, but maybe someone else will reply and answer my question if you don't. I want to get the Roland DJ-505 but I also was attracted to the Pioneer ddj-sp2 which has 32 pads and controls for Serato and looks really cool. But will the Pioneer unit play well with the Roland one?
Sir I have been using Roland Dj 505 product for few years while playing for the gig its freeze thought my laptop issue changed my laptop but problem seems with the Controller from beginning how can I solve this problem
It's time for a second generation DJ-808! We need a standalone 4 channel with bigger, center display rubberized/motorized platters like the Traktor S4. Cuepoint headers with selectable RGB rings around platters. I would have bought an 808 but, it's pretty old & so I went with the 505. Oh, and DJ12 inch skins says that you guys won't communicate with them on producing skins for any of your controllers. Sup wit dat? I want to cover my 505!
I agree, bought the DJ-808 in 2017 and believe that its almost time for the DJ-808 MKII. I love my DJ-808 but I will say it makes no sense that the 202 and the 505 have an 8-voice polyphony for the TRS section as opposed to the DJ-808 which only has 4-voice polyphony. That needs to be addressed. I agree, bigger display, rubberized jog wheels, RGB color scheme profiles, RGB platter halo rings, perhaps a 4% resolution for the pitch sliders for a more precise beat matching DJs, perhaps direct motor drive in the MKIII version. Either way go Roland.
So, after watching the whole thing, I probably forgot what you said about it (if you did), but if I hook up my real 80s TR-909 to the DJ-505, will Serato record that ? Otherwise there is no point of adding a midi-capable DJ device to my setup. Are the DJ-505 and DJ-808 still in production ? I was saving up for the 808, but now that stock is very limited since the pandemic (actually, the chip shortage was caused by major floodings in Thailand in 2019, the pandemic just increased the shortage), I can't seem to find the 808 ánywhere in stock. Haven't seen it for roughly two years. On Twitter, I keep getting the reply 'it is probably coming back in stock soon', but I am sceptic about it. Another question, I do have the Serato full package suite, thus including DVS/PnT/ et cetera, when I connect my turntables to the DJ-505 (or 808), can I (with the timecode vinyls I have) control them with all stuff on the mixer including the TRS sampler ? Oh, one last question, can you turn off the green leds under the jogwheel ? I love green 'n stuff, but when I played around on the DJ-808 in 2018 in a store, it was annoying during mid day. In the dark it's blisteringly awesome :) Thanks in advance.
I have to say this was one of the worst controller purchases I’ve ever made. For the entire summer I was trying to figure out why my laptop kept freezing while using this controller and I did every type of trouble shooting you can imagine. It wasn’t up until I grabbed my old DDJ-SB2 and I did an entire party with that with no hiccups, freezing or stalling at all. By the way my laptop is about 7 years old and I’ve DJ’ED on all types of controllers and have never had an issue ever within those years. I spent hours doing research on what could be the cause up until I found a site that told me that the Roland DJ 505 has an internal glitch of some sort that causes Serato to freeze and there’s no fixing it at all. I can’t use sound effects, the drum machine or my streaming service without it crashing and freezing my computer entirely. It’s not worth the investment at all save your money.
I have been having the same problem... Rolands support dues not help... my 505 freezes up...I have windows 10 enough ghz.. and 32gb ram.... still glitches and freezes.... don't know what to do... But it's right now collecting dust.
