If you'd look at the number of wins between Garcia and Corteza, Clearly Le Van Corteza won the game. That is why I'm not in favor of this "shoot out" format.

This format seems to protect and giving hope to the one on the losing side. Overall, Garcia had only 4 wins whereas Corteza compiled 7, yet Garcia won. Where's the logic there? Why require two race-to-4 short sets when race to 8 would make it more simple?

Thats the reason why we dont use international rules here in the philippines when we play pool to avoid such arguements. There are only 3 rules we use here,

7 to 4 and Lee Vann LOST...???? This is a absolutely stupid format...!!! I hope players refuse to play this format...! and Lee Vann gets a slug rack because he's not "allowed" to check it...? This is RUINING pool...!

Selected random thoughts i had while watching: 1) 43:50 (42 seconds duration) BOSH! There's "nothing you can do about" human error, but there's certainly something you can do about a slug rack: _void the break and re-rack the balls better._ Rack or match results _should not_ turn on human error *on the part of the referee.* 2) 1:05:25 (5 seconds duration) Please tell me that the referee is not checking with someone about what happens next here... 3) I see that two sets of races to four keeps both players engaged right up to the end of the match in a way that may not happen if a player is down 6 to 2 in one race to eight. But, i still see no advantage in a shootout tie-breaker (as opposed to, say, a deciding set -- or rack, even). 4) Van-Van: 10 successes, including 7 nine ball racks; Roland: 8 successes, including 4 nine ball racks. Roland wins the match. 'What's wrong with this picture?'
