Roland Garros: Who was Simonne Mathieu?
In March 2019, the new third show court at Roland Garros - replacing the old ‘Bullring’ Court One - was completed. The name that would adorn it, following those of Philippe Chatrier and Suzanne Lenglen on the other two courts, was that of Simonne Mathieu - not only a highly decorated tennis player but a decorated war hero, too.
