The analog heat heats the audio signal: adds harmonic distortion

You can certainly get the ball rolling with just the J-6 (and a drum machine maybe). The J-6 has reverb, delay, envelope and you can choose to do chords, arp patterns or just play the vanilla sound. There are a lot of different traditional Juno -sounds to choose between, so you can get quite a lot of different sounds out of it. There is also a sibling -machine (or two). One is a drum + bass sequencer called T-8, so you could make full tracks with just the J-6 and T-8. There are several examples of it on RU-vid.

Also with "Chord" turned off you can start with a note and add up to 3 more notes. I find dub techno doesn't need complex chords, just a minor triad is the best, it's the envelopes, filter and delays which bring the sound.
