The step sequencer is totally underrated imo. The bars for different scales are printed on the faceplate above the keys. They can give you a good orientation on where to place the steps. And changing scales doesn't affect written notes which means you can start out writing in 4/4 and switch to 3/4 any time and insert triplets, which is something so many modern machines cannot even do. Maximum length in the MC-303 is 32 bars vs 4 in the Elektrons.
When I got the Machinedrum I was very dissapointed that there is no micro timing, everything gets quantizised while real time recording... The Pattern length sucks as well...
The P-Locks are nice on the elektron machines. Ofcorse the MC 303 has less options, but you can get similar results by recording Modulations during a slow bpm.
Just discovered the MC-303's ability to sequence external instruments with one MIDI channel per instrument slot on the top row of buttons. So I've been using the arpeggiator to record long patterns with the volca bass, definitely makes up for both the lacking pattern memory length on the volcas and the lackluster acid sounds in the MC-303 samples. The quick muting feature is also very handy with this kind of setup.
@@BeefyTime1 ...poor guy just expects his gear to make his music for him I had a mc303 10 years ago and sold it and just bought another one had it a week and already programmed this track recorded only with mc303. copyrighted and distributed on routenote. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PbCkL0KshkI.html i can throw the midi from the mc303 in a daw and use all the synths i want but why bother the mc303 is great. Let the synth snobs slagg they can't programm.
I cut my teeth on this machine when it first came out but I soon realized the limitations in the tone it produces. But yeah, definitely the best Arpeggios I’ve ever used. Good review.
Great video! The MC-505 and the MC-303 are both amazing to make music with! The 505 can do a lot more but the thing is - people also expect more of it. And the MC-303 can sound just as good but is soo underestimated, that's what's so cool about it! 😎👍
@Ibrahim Darwin Another trick: You can report spammers here on RU-vid and get their comments removed in case they decide not to do so themselves... Want to try it out?
Thanks for the vid. I haven't used mine for ages. Needed some inspiration to get it out again to arp some other synths. I'm going to try and get it to sequence other gear. I'm pretty sure it can do that. I never figured out how to program fills either. I'd way prefer and mpc though
I use an MPC now, still learning it but so far everything about the sequencer has been more intuitive and made more sense. Still loads more it can do aswell. I do miss that arpeggios though...
