how beautiful... the machine responsible for such greats as "Fuck The Pain Away," "Slippery Dick," "Operate," and "Shake Yer Dix" oh how i wish i could find a beat up old one for sale. heaven is where i'd be!!! though i'd settle for stumbling upon $1000 to just buy one outright. nice stuff dude.
I am looking to buy an Mc-303 groovebox. I have never used anything like this before, is this a good piece of equipment to start upon? I know they are are £100, $150 ish, is that the right price on E-bay? Although, as it is electric, it'd be far easier to buy it new and with a warranty, but where can i buy one new, or one similar new, at the £100 - £150 price range? HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks.
Its always been Roland for me. I had one of the first MC202 units when they came out and miss it greatly. I still have a Korg CS10 and Casio CZ101 in the loft but the Roland sound is my favourite by miles. I must treat myself again sometime. Nice sounds my friend.
So true I have a 505 I love it. The planning and skill on this vid are great. I'm thinking of upgrading to an 808 or ideally a 909. I lose hours just sitting jammin and can't imagine not having it. I used to play keyboards years ago as a kid and always wanted to try and produce (Dance- House) type music well now I am thanks to watchng youtube I found out about grooveboxes and got myself a 505 and also a Novation Circuit although I've now sold the Circuit. Once again great work please keep them coming.
I was wondering if I should get a 505 or 808. I am just starting out and want to use my macbook pro to make beats and find out if there is a way to use both together. Any advice and help is appreciated.
i use to have an MC 307, but have moved on to korg electribe esx1 sampler at the moment and have used a mpc once or twice...and love em....but, there all good in different ways, the one thing i will say about the rolland grooveboxes is that they have a strong synth engine in them!, for grooveboxes, as weel as a heaps of arpegiator choices....
@ddaynyc I hated tweaking this thing. I love it's sequencer and the previous 303 was a cool unit as well. I think I actually like the arp on the 303 better but then again I don't like to tweak, I like to go! You got some nice sounds outta this for sure.
Did you design each patch from the tone up, or are these mostly preset patches in the 505? I notice the basslines you create with the 505 have a much cleaner, crisper sound than those on the 808. Just curious if you're designing your patches from scratch. Peace, Jim
You are right BUT the 2 Elektron machines are very expensive (2000€+) and not comparable to the Roland "MCs". I had all the Roland, Yamaha and Korg grooveboxes. I liked the Electribe MX1 (VA+samples) most. Very great and affordable.
@Bilbo107 Argh! I meant my 1970's Yamaha CS10. Got mixed up with my Korg SD200 analog signal delay thats also lurking in the loft. Its been far too long since they say the light of day. Grief, Tascam and a Fostex 4 track to tape. Where does all this stuff come from. Ha. Horder I am.
Great track,I`m thinking of buying the 909 and running it through Pro-Tools. Best wishes to you and all positive party-peeps out there. Greetings from Amsterdam;Eric. ( PEACE ! )
I agree but i got the 303 now simply because 505's in good condition in the UK are alot harder to come by i am thinking about getting an SP-808 sampler to go with it so i can make some proper sample filter house without using the PC at all just for the Part mixer though the 505 is obviously much better
When an instrumental part is the most prominent in an arrangement, it is leading the rest of the tune. What I meant was I find the 505 does not have a very strong bass sound when the bass is either played on its own or as the main part of a song.. it sounds very flat (as compared to an actual analague synth)
Przypomina mi to jeden z utworów zespołu ART OF NOISE 5/5 Poza tym ten groovebox ożywa w twoich rękach, a nie to co niektórzy męczą się z tym sprzętem.
Also the proud owner of a 505, definately better than the 307. Though I have the concede getting a convincing bassline/lead out of the grooveboxes is a challenge.
one of my best mates got one after he had a 303. hours and hours of fun. we're talking a good half decade ago+ ...this though on here is whack. each to their own.
