Roland RD-88 - How to Layer 3 Zones 

Your videos are very easy to understand and thorough. I have been researching many and I mean many videos trying to find the right keyboard for me. I have made the decision to get the rd 88 based on what it's capable of and your videos explaining how to use the features and especially the ones I need. Things have changed so much in the last 7 or 8 years. 8 years ago we could go down to our local music store and they had demo models of most of the keyboards out there. So you could see, play, hear the board and have a tech there to answer questions. Now I at least depend almost solely on the youtube videos to help me make a decision on what to buy. There is nothing like playing a keyboard before you buy, but as I explained that's pretty much a thing of the last. All of the other videos I have looked at were 30 to 45 minutes of good players, playing and not explaining how the board works and if they did, they just kind of touched on it. Your videos make it easy to understand. Thank you for that.

It shouldn't be this complicated. And I don't get why there is no scroll wheel/dial.. pushing arrow keys for everything gets old fast.

I got an rd88 used. When I try to switch banks for zones 1,2,or 3 during this process the ext ctrl/daw ctrl button lights up. If I push the right cursor key the "internal" changes to "external" and I can't look at any other sounds. I tried a factory reset then off/on, but nothing changed. Help?

Do you have to save the custom scene you made before registering it as a favorite?

Hi Ed, I like the split and layer 3 ways on the RD88. Is it possible to control the volume of a zone of two zones with a volume pedal (like the RD2000)? I want to be able to bring in horn or strings sounds with a volume pedal. I didn't see that possibility in the manual.

I got this layer "problems" when playing two or three layers sounds with supernatural piano (ex: piano, strings, pad) if we play many notes, the piano sounds that played early will cut off. Is this something related to polyphony? If yes can we someohw "manipulate" it by making the piano zone never cuts off (or any selected zone) by sacrificing others zone (string and pad)?

Such a complex Instrument should get a software editor, sholdn‘t?

It’s overly complicated. Would rather have a bigger screen and better/intuitive user interface. Somebody needs to fire the interface designer.
