Back in January 2010 I was originally going to get the Roland SC-88vl and placed a few bids on one at a low starting bid but unfortunately I was outbid but in March 2010 I got the SC-88 Pro and wasn't going to be outbid! I forgot how rich some of those instruments can sound especially if you have chorus on them. The vibraphone sounds gorgeous with chorus.
Very cool! I'm interested in the SC88, as one of my favourite game composers Nobuo Uematsu used it to make music for Final Fantasy games. For todays technology, how would I go about connected a SC88 to a modern computer with a keyboard?
I use a focusrite scarlett 2i4 as my audio card, it happens to have a pair of midi in/out on the back, it works well for playing (and capturing) the sc88vl
I have a SC55 and an Axiom midi keyboard. I tried connecting the midi keyboard (midi out) to the SC55 (midi in A), but it doesn't show any signals. Do I need to do something? Do I have to turn of the midi keyboard before conneting to the SC55? I know the SC55 is working as I have used it previously with a x68000 computer and used midi out from that and heard music.
Dunno if solved your issue or still have it, but you can change it from Piano 1 by pressing the instrument buttons. You can also send a program change over MIDI.
profesordeturismo This sort of sound delay happens when a MIDI keyboard is playing using a piece of software when it is connected to the computer. Either that, or it is just the video.
